Q:Will this break up caliche

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Bobt - Thank you for your question. If the caliche is soft then it should work. I would not recommend using this first on caliche that is more rock-hard. I hope this helps! Additionally, if you need further support, then a RYOBI Customer Experience Professional is here for you, Monday - Friday from 9 am to 6 pm (EST) when you call or text us at 1.800.525.2579 or through email or live chat when you visit us at https://www.ryobitools.com/support/contact. A:  It was just scratching the surface and shooting the soil backwards.

    by|Jun 8, 2023

A:  That only thing that'll break up caliche is a heavy digging bar. You're basically working with dirt cement.

A:  hold the button than depress the handle. its almost a 2 hand job. I flip the upper handle and made it easier to start and to hold the tiller.

A:  Hello, Ajl71 - Thank you for your question. To start the motor: Connect the cultivator to power supply. Always secure extension cord to unit by using cord retainer. Failure to use cord retainer may result in damage to the unit and/or extension cord. Place your thumb on the lock-out button. Pull the switch trigger toward the handle. Release the lock-out button. I hope this helps! A:  Well that all depends if you have a 110 outlet pre-installed or if you have a converter box to make it work from your cigarette lighter. It's been my experience that as long as you have an extension cord for the tiller and if your are only expecting to use it for a short period then it works as long as your battery will hold a charge.i do think that it's speed seems to be a bit slower and it will definitely drain the battery, but it does work in a pinch. If no other sorse like a generator is available.

                Great Tiller
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this tiller to loosen up the dirt before laying some stepping stones down in my backyard. It works great and is very powerful. It’s fairly easy to assemble and easy to use. I recommend this product.

                  Breaking early
So I bought this 2 years ago. But it hardly gets used. Pulled it out to cultivate a small garden area yesterday. By the time I was done, it was making a racket and spinning slowly like the gears are wearing or motor or something. Only really used once before to cultivate a flower bed. Still looks new!! Think I want my mantis back.

                    It’s Ok
This electric tiller will work well in loose soil and mulch but won’t break ground in clay soil. Overpriced in my opinion, look at other brands for less if you just want something to stir the soil.

                      Missing pieces
When installing the wheels on Till, the hitch pins where missing. Wheels fall off when you try to move the Till. I can’t find any phone number to call Ryobi and report this

So far working great. Definitely worth the money spent. As for how long it last we will see.

                        Ryobi Cultivator
I needed to till my backyard for a large patio pour. Renting a proper rototiller is fairly pricy and I knew I’d need it more than a few days. I decided to buy this little Ryobi tiller. I can’t believe this thing got the job done. Hard dried clay, this thing bounced around and chewed it up in the end. If you’re looking to get the job done fast, this will not be good for that. If you’re retired and have more time than money, I don’t think you can go wrong. This is one tough little unit!

                          Doesn't work on clay
Easy to assemble but doesn't work on clay at all. It was just scratching the surface and shooting the soil backwards.

The machine seems ok to work with, but labeling it a tiller I don’t believe is correct. We did use it around the perimeter of the house to put in a flower garden. To use it as a tiller I had to stay in one general area for about 20 min to tear up grass and get deep into dirt. Oh and the wheels are attached by a pressure washer. It came off and bent in the first 30 min. A company cannot cut corners like that to hold on the machines wheels!

Looked like a solution to our 200 square foot vegetable garden needs, although I was concerns about my wife handling this tool in our clay rich soils. Tried it out and found it works best by letting it move forward and the dragging it back. It would grab into the ground and self regulate its cultivating depth easily. It also self cleans without choking on any sod patches and the motor never sags. Included a picture of how she did in about 15-20 minutes. Great tool!
