Yes if you need a 100 foot cord, you'll want the 12 gauge MINIMUM for up to a 15 amp tool, which will keep the voltage drop over that distance to less than 5 percent. DO NOT use any gauge smaller than 14 for a 10 amp tool over a 100 foot cord or you risk damaging your tool from overheating, or worse, overheating your line and starting a fire. Don't use a 16 gauge for more than 7 amps over 100 feet. Don't mix different gauge cords or you'll be limited by the smaller gauge. For lengths greater than 100 feet you'll need a 10 gauge, which will cost more than the tool itself. If 100 feet is not enough, get a cordless or gas trimmer. Don't mess with electricity, and don't be cheap. Do it right. These DIYers on here scare me. Why is Home Depot allowing this misinformation on their boards?
You cannot use a 100 foot extension cord with this mower per the Ryobi manual. The longest you can use is a 50 foot 12/3 extension cord. A longer extension cord will cause a voltage loss greater than the mower is designed to handle resulting in possible motor over heating and burn out.
I have never seen a trimmer that is as easy to load.... you have to take NOTHING apart... just stick the line into a hole and pull out another and wind it in and you're done... only takes seconds!
As long as whatever extension cord you have or buy.
No. It is an electric corded lawn mower. No battery. No charger. You plug an electric cord into an outdoor outlet and plug the other end into the lawn mower. That's it.
If you are doing the start procedure properly and it isn't working, check the A/C outlet to verify that you actually have power. Any small appliance or lamp that you know is good will work for a test. All newer homes use GFI outlets on exterior outlets as well as in bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms. If there is no power, you may have tripped the protector and need to reset it. If it's an older home, check the breaker/fuse panel.
The max length 16 ga cord I would use is 50'...a 14 ga 100 ft cord should be fine, but a 12 ga cord is better. I am a retired builder. Some homes use 14 ga wire. If the wire gauge is too small, it will burn out the blower motor
If 75' is long enough, I would go with 14 gauge. 12 might be ok, but 10 gauge would be way too heavy to pull around the yard.
I'm 5'6" and use it just fine. I adjusted the handle on the pole to be at just about balance point for the whiole unit so the weight is not really an issue. Unlike ones with the motor at the bottom, it's pretty well balanced unit.
Not for cutting high weeds
