Why when the tools are on sale you don't have any. But the day after the sale there magically in stock?

Search nearby stores or sometimes you can pick up in store to get same deal...They're a battery hog anyways, standard picnic table takes 6-7 3 amp batteries.

Is this tool recommended for kitchen cabinets and kitchen cabinet doors?

Hi LenRoc, thank you for your question! This tool is recommended for sanding wood, metals, plastics, and other materials, smoothing rough boards, chamfering, rounding edges, and removing rust, paint, varnishes, and stains. It would certainly work for your intended purpose, but I would advise caution so to avoid uneven sanding. I hope this helps. Best Regards, Ryobi Support Team

Does this come in a corded edition

Why would you want a corded one when you need a cordless one for practicality. As for a corded one yes I think so but never used a Ryobi corded belt sander.

That would be great, as long as the sander is not heavier. Cordless is nice, but even the large batteries don't last very long on a job. BTW, the bag doesn't do much good.

Can a 18 v Dewalt battery be used with this?

No. The Dewalt and Ryobi batteries are not compatible. The shape and placement of the connectors is different.

The directions that come with this say that it shouldn't be run while it is upside down. I would assume there is a reason to include this specific cautionary advice and therefore it is not advisable. I haven't tried to verify this myself, though.

can i use the ryobi 40v battery on this belt sander?

Hi Dominator, The 18v Ryobi tools will only accept 18v Ryobi batteries. The 40v Ryobi batteries will only work on the 40v Ryobi tools. The connections are different and cannot cross with each other. Thanks for asking. Greg

How well does the dust collector work?

Asked by Chris July 31, 2018

Answers

Does what it's made for, which is removal of material. Doesn't take much effort to remove material with the supplied 80 grit belt. Changing and adjusting belts is relatively simple. It does take concentration to keep it steady and not become unwieldy on the piece on which you are working. It's noisy, like all sanders. Biggest negative, for me, is that it uses-up battery life much quicker than an orbital or sheet sander.

I purchased the P450 belt sander and I cannot keep the sanding belt on track. It slides off no matter how far I turn the tracking adjuster.

You need to turn it the other way, or send it back

Almost great
Customer review from ryobitools.com logo
Been using for a while and it works very nice. Only reason for the 4 rating is I was not happy with the dust port. Don't like using the dust bags that come with these types of tools and with this one I could not hook up a vac without a modification. After taking a 1 inch 45 degree pvc elbow and applying a little heat I now can hook up the vac. Wish Ryobi had taken this into consideration with their design, other than that it nice to lose the cord.

Dust port hack
I own most of the Ryobi one+ tools. They all work great and being cordless makes them even greater. Having said that the recent purchase of the one+ sander (3in x 18in) left me scratching my head. I never use the supplied dusk bags that come with the tools and prefer using my vac. The way that they have positioned the duct port does not leave room to attach a hose. And being a left-hander using the bag gets in the way of sanding. The fix was easy enough, but I wish Ryobi would the design to make it adaptable for a vac hose. To fix it I purchased a 1in 45-degree elbow. Of course, that was too small for the dust port and too large for the vac hose. Out comes the heat gun. Heated up the elbow enough to slip in on the dust port and waited for it to cool. Then heated up the other end and compressed it to fit the vac hose. Now I can hook up the vac and it keeps it out of the way of my “left” hand trigger use. So there it is, my fix to what I consider a design flaw, and I recommend it for anyone who want to attach a vac hose.

Crown Jewel of My Tools!
Customer review from ryobitools.com logo
I buy tools and use them (see picture to see a sample of what is in my shop; doesn’t include my work trailer). I expect tools to perform well and hold up under hard use. However, the Ryobi Brushless Sander exceeded my expectations so much that I want to give a shoutout for it. I have several sanders but this is the best by far. It is lightweight, easy to manage, and most importantly does a great job of sanding even treated wood. This is one tool that has earned a permanent place in my workshop!

Just what I need
Customer review from ryobitools.com logo
I have this belt sander for about 3 months and I’m glad I go it, so easy to use from the moment you get it out of the box. I have done at least 50 signs ( that’s what I make) and still long like the first day, no cord great power man I can’t explain how good this one is, I wish it came with a bag for storage but that’s ok.

Chews through batteries like crazy
I really wanted to like this sander for all the obvious reasons but in the end I had to return it for a corded version. All I wanted to do was to sand an old oxidized 8'x9" board to prepare it to take stain to become a shelf. Using the 1.5ah batteries that came with my other cordless Ryobi One+ tools I was able to only get about 10 minutes of sanding out of each battery. Four dead batteries later I still hadn't finished sanding the board. I considered purchasing a larger battery but the cost/benefit ratio didn't make a lot of sense when I could get a corded sander for half the price paid for this and not worry at all about battery life.

Good, but Consumes Batteries quickly
Customer review from ryobitools.com logo
The Brushless Belt Sander is a bit pricey, but does an adequate job. The only issue I have with it is that I need four 3ah batteries to get through a project.
