No, this is essentially a sump pump, it needs to run full or it will overheat.

I use the same 18v battery I use in my drill. Not sure what plug you are talking about. I have always used the battery and have now for about 2 years.

Can this pump be used for an outdoor sink to pump fresh water thru a faucet for washing hands and/or dishes.

Asked by FRANK July 19, 2020

Answers

Yes, but you would have to turn it off and on every time you wanted water out of the faucet, as there is no pressure relief valve. If you just left it on, it would build a higher amount of pressure than you wanted, and the pump would burn out fairly quickly. Sureflow makes 12v pumps just for this purpose that are used in RV's and boats. Check craigslist for a fair price on a used one. New they are about a $100

Is this ok to use for drinking water?

I see no reason you couldn't, but you would have to turn it off after every use as there is no pressure relief valve on the pump. Surflow makes a 12v pump for this purpose for about a $100

can I use this to supply water to a campus tankless waterheater it requires 2.64 gpm

Does the Job
Customer review from ryobitools.com logo
Overall I like this pump a lot. I live on a small lake and always need a small pump. Because it can be operated on a battery it is particularly useful at the water’s edge. Currently we have very high lake levels and I use it daily to pump overflow from a sandbag wall. It is easy to use and priming it is simple. My only negative (like others) is the plastic threads on the hose connections. When I use it I spend most of my time carefully attaching the hoses. Getting them attached without damaging the threads is the hardest part of the job. Once attached the pump works great.

I hooked up this pump to twin 45 gallon rain barrels and it worked fine with a sprinkler attached to water my garden. It took about 20 minutes to empty the barrels. I am using a 6 amh battery on it. This was the first that I used it so far as long term reliability I will have to wait and see.

(What's this)
I ordered this from homdepot. Then I found use for it filling gray water tanks to food trailers and also used it to drain water from fresh water 400 gallon pond but on battery two and four amp batteries drained battery's in 12 minutes of use and 26 minutes on 4 amp battery moving water upward by 4 feet below the pump ground level. When using it made noise when air bibles are sucked in but noise is cut in half with steady stream of water This pump can be tricky to start because it needs priming but once primed works nice but for a bigger job the plug in adaptor for hours of uninterrupted pumping to fill and drain water.

(What's this)
Ryobi put a lot of thought into this one. It is able to run on any of their 18v batteries and it comes with a power supply that you can plug into a wall and run the pump that way. A super nice feature is that the pump comes with an extra impeller and o ring. Included with the kit is a hose with a filter at the end to keep large bits from being pulled into your pump. That is a really nice touch. I was testing this pump in January, and the hose was pretty stiff. Hopefully when it gets a little warmer, that will be less of a problem. I will admit I was pretty surprised by how loud the pump is. Definitely not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of. It has pretty decent suction, but the out put pressure is not very much, so you will not be using this as a supply pump. Over all, I like this device.

(What's this)
The Ryobi Hybrid transfer pump is great if you have a Ryobi 18V system because it can use your existing 18V batteries and chargers. But this pump can also be used with just a power cord (provided). The transformer pack is a bit bulky on the power cord. The pump itself, when running, is a bit noisy because it is a centrifugal pump with a flexible impeller. But it moves the water fast. A spare impeller is included. I was not able to find a place to buy any more spare impellers. It has one included supply hose. You will need a second hose for the outlet. The hose is stiff, so I recommend purchasing (2) 6 ft flexible leader hoses. The pump requires that you oil the inlet port before and after each use. They do include a small bottle of oil, and a place to keep this oil on the stand. But be aware of the maintenance requirements. If you have an existing Ryobi 18V tool system with chargers and batteries, this pump might be a good accessory to add to your kit. If not, check other pumps that might be better.

(What's this)
I ran this on 110 (my batteries were dead) - and was impressed with how much water this pumped! It is simple to get going - just lift the lid and plug it in. The unit comes with a hose and inlet filter (see pics). You will want to have a second hose for the outlet (not included, but who doesn't have a hose?). It also includes a spare impeller. I did not run on battery - but the specs say it will move 200 gals on one battery - pretty impressive. It is a little noisy - which I consider a good thing to know this is running.
