Product Overview
Even a novice can master this 18-Volt Ryobi drill to perform various duties around the house and yard. An adjustable clutch lets user’s select ideal torque and a spring-loaded trigger supplies more RPM as the button is depressed. If low speed isn’t enough, switch to the high speed setting for more RPM (1600 MAX). A no-hassle bit-changing system allows operators to simply twist the chuck to secure or loosen accessories. Use this device to drill holes in plastic, metal and wood or fasten bolts and screws (bits sold separately).

AnswersHi Laniiz26. The battery with this unit is Ni-Cad. The tool will work with the 18 volt Ryobi lithium if you upgrade. However, you would have to upgrade to the lithium charger as well.

Fantastic Drill for the price!
This has been a fantastic drill for the price. Over the last year, I have remodeled our home that was recently sold. This drill has done it all, from building a new fence, to mixing mortar for 1200sf of tile flooring, replacing blinds, sheetrock, and fiberboard siding. Through it all, the two batteries have been plenty for me to consistently use. I'm a huge fan of Ryobi. Always the best bang for the buck!

Pros & Cons
The Ryobi 18 Volt Cordless is a decent drill at the price point. We have purchased these drills for our employees for many years. The self-tightening chucks seem to slip quite often. Occasionally the chucks seem to be out of alignment and do not turn in perfect circles. Batteries wear out after about a year of service and are a major expense issue. Otherwise, the drill has survived falls from eight foot ladders. The torque and strength and 1600 RPM speed are quite sufficient. The load settings are simple and adequate for most projects. We use these drills daily with one battery in the charger as backup and rotation. The retail price point is the major draw for our firm. At the given retail we can employ these drills for designated period about one year and replace drill and batteries. Our experience has indicated that most cordless drills, even the higher priced, begin to fail in about twelve months given daily usage. Best bang for the buck.

bought this and it was obviously a returned item, but couldn't pass up the deal. the battery needed to be replaced, but the drill works awesome. I have done numerous jobs around the house with no sign it will quit anytime soon.

Do not believe the total interchangable story as it relates to ni-cad batteries. The lithium batteries WILL NOT fit in the ni-cad charger (as told to me by a totally uninformed customer service associate!!!!
I purchased lithium replacements when told they'd work only to be disappointed when they did not fit in the charger.

Great drill bad battery
Package arrived on date promised. It came with an old ni-cad battery that won't last 5 minutes in use. Fortunately I have several lithium ion batteries that I used for my project. Drill works great with the lithium ion batteries and had plenty of power to run 3" hole saw through 2x4.

No Problems
My wife bought me this kit probably 15 years ago for Christmas. The drill gets the most use and I had to replace the batteries because after we moved it was in storage for probably 2 years. I asked for a new drill for Christmas this year because either the trigger is going out or the battery is not getting full contact but it will act like it's dead. I have never had any trouble out of this and hope the next one I get is of the same quality. As long as its of the same quality as the first one I owned, I would highly recommend this.
