Can I regulate the pressure of the machine to wash cars? And if so, what pressure should I set it for and how?
Asked by: Roy
RYOBIOutdoors response is contradictory to the recommended pressure control accessories (RY31019). The accessory states that it must be a min of 2300PSI. This is 2000.

Will I be able to use 100ft. garden hose? Can I use a 50ft. extension cord ?

Asked by: bonbon
You cannot use a "normal" extension cord with this pressure washer. the motor quits working within five minutes and then you have to wait 30 minutes for it to reset. Good pressure washer except for this restriction!

2,000 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4556.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Marginal Purchase - Expected More From A Ryobi Product Ryobi was the only electric in the store. Price point was ok. Assembly was reasonable except for the pressure hose leading to the pressure wand. - others do not and are made of much heavier gauge hose line. The reel mechanism is for high pressure line storage only and not to reel in the high pressure hose - no documentation declaring that fact. Wasted time trying to figure out the reel in configuration - finally called tech support and shared it right away. Must be a common mistake. Plenty of electrical connection cord. Cons: 1. Reel needs work for usage and is annoying when you have to reconnect everything with each use 2. No directions about the reel being exclusively for storage - add to assembly instructions- wasted assembling time 3. Presssure on box list 2,000 psi but appears to be no better than my 1,800 electric. 4. Jet nozzle is marginal for cleaning performance - I saved my other tips 5. Pressure line is not heavy gauge - flimsy - but most importantly - it kinks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You will love this pressure washer After tons of research I ended up purchased the Ryobi 2000 psi pressure washer after my electric Karcher model died. I wanted a gasoline model but understand the ethanol in our gasoline is causing all types of issues with fuel lines, rubber gaskets, carburetors, etc. I used it to pressure wash grease stains off my concrete driveway and it worked flawlessly. The steel frame is stable so the unit does not tip over like my old Karcher model. It's easy to roll around because of the large wheels and it features a nice steel wand, many competitors are plastic on the outside. My only suggestion to Ryobi is to eliminate the hose reel that comes with the unit. I removed mine and simply installed a Velcro strap on the handle to hold the high pressure hose. MUCH easier when using the machine and makes for a simple and effective way to hold the hose during storage. Trust me, this is the model you want if you are in the market for an electric pressure washer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job with no problems The unit was unit easy to assemble and operate. It has plenty of power for the job. Cleaning old bird droppings and paint off our brick patio was a breeze. Mildew and paint droppings came off the flagstone with ease and no damage to the soft stone underneath. Any more power and I'm afraid I could have damaged the brick or stone. One thing I was presently surprised about was the length of the power cord. It was long enough that we won't need extension cords at our home, but we have exterior plugs on all our patios. The other nice thing was how quiet the unit was. Also, the cart was good and stable and the nozzle storage sockets are a nice touch. The only minor complaint is the need to unspool the high pressure hose all the way before use. It seems like it wouldn't have been that much more expensive to have the take-up reel engineered to allow use while the hose was still on the reel. Overall, though we are very happy with this unit.

I wanted a strong-ish psi for cleaning stuff but preferred electric so I wouldn't have to deal with buying and storing gas, draining the gas tank, etc. I first took it for a test drive cleaning some outdoor furniture that hadn't been touched in 10 years. It stripped the old weathered stain right off. Have also used it on some BBQ grill parts and to clean my front sidewalks. Driveway is next but that's going to be tedious -- the turbo tip helps, but you've still got to keep it close to the surface to clean heavy-duty grime, so it only covers a narrow strip at a time. but it's fast. The "build" seems sturdy enough -- plenty of plastic but the hoses and connectors seem a little better than other comparable models I've looked at. Have only used the soap once, but each time I start it up, on the first trigger pull there seems to be a small amount of soap in the line that has to clear. Really don't have experience using other brands, so all I can say is, it does what I wanted it to, and I'm happy with it so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WONDERFUL I bought this pressure washer about a month ago and have used it everywhere. My curb, sidewalk, porch, and driveway were so black and this cut right through. I can't believe this is my house so white and clean. I also used it on my screened in back porch to clean the pollen off the furniture. The turbo nossle was great for the curb. Cut the time in half. I also purchased the 12" surface cleaner attachment to make it quicker and easier to do my driveway and porch. Because of the gravel type concrete the wand inside the attachment would get small particles stuck in it. I would just take it off, rinse it, and it was good as new. We are big Ryobi fans and didn't want to mess with a gas powered washer. So glad I found this. The power it gives is exactly what I needed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The First time I used it I had to play with the water pressure and power switch to get it to pump, once it began it worked well. The second go around, fiddled with the GFI power switch, the water pressure, and everything else I could think of, including a look at u-tube tricks to get it running. Finally after an hour of messing with it, I finally boxed it up for a return to Home Depot. Credit back to my account was easy. Sorry I had to return it but it would not pump!!

So far I am very satisfied with my purchase. Assembly was easy and the use of the pressure washer is a lot better than my old engine powered washer. What I like the best about the washer is that when you need to stop washing the unit shuts off and starts back up when you engage the wand trigger. With the engine powered unit you always run the risk of burning up the pump. A great product at a great price.

I finally decided I should own one. As a mid 60s woman I wanted an easier start option. I spent several hours doing research online, reading specs and reviews. I’m very pleased with this Ryobi.

I purchased this to replace the gas powered pressure washers I've been using on my pool deck. Although not as powerful as the gas models I have, the unit did a great job so it appears that I did not need 3000 psi after all. I would have to scrub my vinyl fence each year but with this pressure washer, I do not have to. The unit gets all of the winter dirt off. Highly recommend if you have a vinyl fence. The only issue we had was the rolling of the hose - it's a little difficult but the clean fence makes up for it.

It doesn't have near the pressure necessary to do a good job. This is more of a car wash type pressure washer at best. The soap application runs on low pressure. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Picture shows the high pressure hose coiled up on reel.... Picture shows the high pressure hose coiled up on reel. It is deceptive in that one has to disconnect the hose from the washer in order to wind up the hose. Ryobi should have added a rotary union to the center of spool so that disconnection is not needed.

I have good pressure at my outdoor spigot but I continually get surges in pressure which results in inconsistent flow. Also after about 4 uses is started leaking like crazy right after the handle. Called support and they said to lube the O ring where the hose attaches, I did but knew that wasn't the cause from the large volume of water coming out of the connection and the wand body. I ended up taking the wand handle apart and saw water was spurting out from the plastic right above the brass connection in teh handle where it transitions from vertical to horizontal. It looks like that part has a seam which will potentially leak as the plastic is not a single piece, mine was squirting water right out of that seam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shower ever I got this pressure washer for personal use with the optional foam attachment, let me tell you this is an outstanding purchase. The included high pressure nozzle does an excellent job of getting dirt and grime out of those hard to reach nooks and crannies. The hookups are standard to garden hoses. It really beats running back to the meter to feed quarters in when you want to spend a little more time on that one area. The best part is you're not getting yelled at by motorists trying to wash there vehicles; saying things like "come on guy get some pants on" or soccer moms screeching about how they have kids in the van. The optional foam attachment really soaps up body wash (much better than a loofah I might add). Hands down the best shower I have ever had!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good!!! Have only used power washer once so far. Does not seem to have the same power as my old gas powered washer of the same power rating, but still did an OK job on my deck. Washer only comes with 2 different pressure nozzles (most competitors washers come with 4 or 5). More would be nice. A longer basic power cord (maybe 50 ft.) would also be nice since the manual says only user a 12 gauge extension cord of 25 ft. That does not make for a very large operating radius. Also, the wand on the sprayer is rather short. A wand 6 to 12 inches longer would make the usage much more versatile and easier on the back (less stooping.). Still, the washer did work well given the uses for which it was purchased. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely satisfied.... just 1 suggestion Was looking for a power washer for some time now and found this model for sale and bought it right away. The power is perfect for home usage and it has far surpassed my expectations. Though I have it a 5-star rating there is one siggestion I would make. The ability to reel the hose without totally removing it from the unit would be a major plus. The first couple of times I removed the hose from the unit and rolled it in the roller. I got tired of doing all that work due to the awkward placement and spacing between the reel and the unit itself. Now I just roll it and hang the hose on my wall separate from the unit. Overall, still very satisfied with the unit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the price. I’ve always owned industrial sized Koehler gas operated power washers but after numerous break downs and buying overpriced parts I thought I would downsize to another brand and an electric operated one. I was very skeptical at first but after speaking to other satisfied owners of electric washers, I gave one a try. Keeping in mind all I need to do nowadays is wash the vehicles, deck, and the occasional lawn furniture, this model is perfect. If power washing large areas I would recommend a larger model with more gal./min. The best thing about this model is it’s small enough to store in the basement during the winter and no fuel treatments for the engine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I've used this pressure washer on a couple of projects around the house and, so far, it has worked as expected. I'd note that the hose reel is not as handy as I had anticipated. Users have to disconnect the hose from the washer in order to wind it up. The connectors on the hose have to clip into the reel in such a way as they don't hang out and block the reel's rotation. This is rather fussy to do correctly, Accordingly, I find that it's something of a bother to use the reel and that it's far easier to simply coil the hose up and hang it over the handle. Other than that, the washer seems to work as expected. We'll see how well it holds up over time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than I Expected With the Quick Reference Guide, I was able to put the pressure washer together easily and without any problems. I had it put together in 20 minutes. Ryobi thought of every detail in designing this unit: large wheels for easy mobility, long electrical cord with a place to wrap it for storage, a reel for the pressure hose with a fold out handle, storage for the three nozzles, easy access to connect hoses, and the spray wand is perfect. I couldn't wait to try it out and it works better than I expected. It is quiet running, and the pressure it puts out made my work enjoyable. For the quality of performance and price, I highly recommend this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for pool decks I bought this for my pool service company and it works great for what we need! It is lightweight and collapsable which makes it very portable as we carry from house to house. The reel keeps the hose from kinking up and keeps it stored safely durning transport. It has just the perfect amount of pressure for cleaning off pool decks and covers. The only negative thing I found was the soap container is held on loosely and does not stay on well during transportation. Luckily we dont use it so I took it off. Also the hose that came with it is not ideal. I put a more heavy duty 50ft hose with quick releases on both ends for quick set up and tear down. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK at washing, "convenient hose reel" is a joke This unit has decent power for an electric unit and the detergent injector seems to work well. It's "homeowner quality", meaning I don't think it would do well with regular, heavy use. One of the spot welds on the frame already popped. The most ridiculous feature, however, is the "convenient hose reel". You would think that means when you are finished using it, you can simply crank the pressure hose back on the reel. Not so. You have to unscrew the hose from the wand, unscrew it from the machine, clip it on the reel on roll it up. When you want to use it again, unclip, unroll the entire hose and screw to the machine and wand. Very inconvenient. I have an idea how this silly feature may have come about. Marketing people may have decided that buyers wanted the convenience of a roll-up hose. Engineering may have told them the rotating high-pressure fitting would either leak or price it out of the mass consumer market. Compromise: a reel that looks good on the packaging, but doesn't actually function the way people would expect a hose reel to function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall a great little power washer Of course a homeowners unit will never match the power of an industrial one and being electric, it will never be as powerful as a gas powered unit. Knowing that, it did an amazing job washing my patio. There is plenty of power to blast through algae and peel suck on latex paint drips in concrete (I often finish furniture projects on the back patio). The included nozzles did a great overall job scrubbing the back porch and it did a great job of getting the outdoor trash cans clean. I have two gripes with the unit that I can overlook, first off it doesn't spray the soap at high pressure. You have to use the included blue plastic nozzle which lowers the pressure and sprays the soap haphazardly on what ever you're trying to clean. Secondly, the hose must be detached from the unit to be rolled onto the hose reel. Other than that, plenty of power for the home-gamer at a reasonable price. The rolling cage keeps the weight of the unit low to the ground so it's not top heavy and it takes up very little space in the garage. The unit was also really easy to put together, insert the handle into the unit, install the wheels with a couple of cotter pins, connect the hose, insert the nozzles, and you're on your way to getting your job done. Rated 5 out of 5 by from exceeded my expectations. I bought this unit with kinda low expectations....two varieties of washers were available at the Big Box Store; this one at a couple hundred, the next step up was over four with all the stuff I wanted. Rental of a pro level tool was almost a hundred a day and I had several days of work to do, so I bought instead of renting. I also figured I'd be able to justify buying the more expensive (gas powered....) one after I tried this cheaper, electric version and returned it ( all in front of the wife/financial coordinator, of course!) since there is no way it was going to handle what I had to do. After the assembly and set up was through, I fired this thing up and , whoa! it really made short work of the ten years of neglect on my pool deck! Now I'm looking for stuff to blast! Am I going to put the pro company out of business? no. Does it do everything I need around my property? yes....and better than I thought it would. comparatively quiet, easy to maneuver, versatile enough to do a lot of jobs around my house....I'm actually blown away, and I am a hard sell. I am a shade tree mechanic as well, and cheap tools really kinda make me mad. I always buy the best I can afford....this IS that. Time will tell about its durability, but so far so good. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid machine for the money I have had this washer for 6 weeks and used on siding, porch furniture, concrete patio, and grill. I love the pressure delivered without sucking my well dry. The 4/5 would be for the peripheral functions. Great power cord but the cord wrap is down at the ground. It has a good length of high pressure hose but the hose wrap is a spool which is only usable if you disconnect the hose from the wand each time. The documentation does not state how the soap dispenser operates. I was expecting a separate valve. I wanted to add a quick connect extension to the wand but none was available. Had to order from 3rd party. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously Great For me, this replaces a 1650psi Husky pressure washer, and it's a world of difference. The core features and attachments are great, but it's the little things that really add up. Big, solid, metal axles and pins for the wheels! A built-in hose roller! Retainers for all three attachments! Metal parts all over the place, instead of plastic! A detachable handle for easier transport! The Husky I had before literally fell apart until I could no longer use it, all due to low-grade plastic parts that could not be replaced. This Ryobi, like my other Ryobi powertools, feels like it will last a lifetime. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product Poor Design Bought this product to use for our Building and Grounds students to use to wash off tools and large equipment. The pressure washer works like it is supposed to, and the soap mixing on exit is a nice feature. The only complaint I have is the reel storage system. When purchased I believed that I was going to be able to leave the hose hooked up and just reel up the hose for storage. You still have to unhook the pressure hose from the pump before your hose. Not that big of deal, except where the hos attaches is not the easiest of places to get to. I would still recommend the product for purchase. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pressure washer I did a lot of research looking for a good electric pressure washer. Many reviews on various well known models and wasn’t so pleased by them. Finally went to my local Home Depot and bought this model and very pleased with it used it for about 4 or 5 hours doing siding, gutters and patio. No issues with the operation just followed all instructions to the t. Only real issue is the hose reel put the hose on when I first bought but have to take it all off to use so the hose is staying off now. Also bought the pump protector and warranty with it just to extend the life as long as possible. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
