Anyone here use this for their CPAP machine? I have an S9 and the rated wattage is 300... anyone willing to test it?
Asked by: Rich
Hello, Rich - Thanks for the question. Our unit is rated for 270-300W. A lot of people say this works well with a CPAP, but there are a lot of different types of CPAP machines. If it does run this particular 300W CPAP, we would recommend a high Ah 40V battery for as much runtime as possible. We hope this helps.

No it does not include a battery. But you can use the 40v battery that come with your; Lawn mower or Leaf Blower or Weed Wacker. You get the message correct?

This is an awesome little inverter which I'd been checking for in my local store and online almost daily after seeing it unveiled on a tool review website six months ago. My initial impression of this inverter is that it is as good as I'd hoped it would be. It does deliver a pure sine wave and I'm surprised that this fact isn't mentioned more prominently on the packaging or in the advertising. It's a big deal for me, and a feature which I really wish had been included in Ryobi's 150W 18v battery inverter which was released a couple of months ago (model RYi150BG). I have a cheap 20" box fan which runs fine on household AC, but when running from any of my modified sine wave inverters (MSW) including the Ryobi 18v RYi150BG the box fan runs a little slower, draws a little more power, and is accompanied with a noise which sounds as if the fan is struggling to turn. This same box fan operates perfectly on the Ryobi 40 inverter and it sounds and feels exactly the same as when operating on household AC. I did make some measurements to try and determine the conversion efficiency of the inverter. I used my cheap 20" box fan (3 speed settings) and a corded Ryobi model HG600 heat gun (2-speeds and variable temp) for the loads. I used a Watt's Up meter to measure DC voltage/current/power drawn from the battery and a Kill-A-Watt meter to measure AC voltage/frequency/power drawn from the inverter. First I measured the draw from household AC as follows: box fan on lo/med/hi = 56/66/76 watts and heat gun on lowest heat setting and fan on lo/hi = 175/206 watts. I then measured these same loads on the Ryobi 40v inverter and got the same results. This suggests good quality AC output. Next I compared watts drawn from battery to watts drawn by load using the two loads mentioned before to create 0/56/66/76/175/206/262/272/282 watt loads. What I observed was 7.25 watts drawn from the battery when the inverter is powered on with no AC load, a battery draw of about 15 Watts more than the load for 56/66/76 Watt loads, a battery draw of about 30 Watts more than the load for 175/206 watt loads, and a draw of about 45 watts more than the load for 262/272/282 watt loads. For all loads the frequency remained steady around 60Hz and the voltage dipped just a little as the load increased from no load (122v) to nearly full load (119.3v). I'll conclude that the inverter produces a decent AC signal, uses 7.25 Watts when idle, and has an average efficiency of ~85%. I did not try to measure radio frequency interference (RFI) nor did I observe the AC waveform on an oscilloscope. Again, I've now measured the efficiency at about 85%. Therefore the "1.1" constant I've provided in the Q&A section should actually be "1.15", e.g. estimate run time in hours as (Battery Wh)/(Watts consumed * 1.15). Overall I'm extremely pleased and I'm sure this little inverter will see a lot of use. I checked the USB A port and it charged my iPhone at more than 1.5A which was fine. I don't have any devices which can utilize the higher charge rates of USB-A or USB-C so I can't comment on how well these do or don't work. The light was the only disappointment for me. Actually I'm not sure if I care whether the device has a light or not, but since it has this feature I figure it should work. Actually it's the light *button* which is infuriating. One should be able to select one of three light modes by pressing the light button: on, off, and strobe. But I find that I have to press the button many, many times before the light will change mode, and when changing modes it seems to randomly select the next mode. This could just be a defect with my unit and it's not important enough to me to bother with attempting an exchange, but I thought I'd mention it in case other reviewers experience the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 300 watt 40 volt I mainly purchased this for blowing up my twin size air mattress for camping. Runs the air pump with no issues. Comes with a built in light on it which is great if you are setting up camp at night.

I bought this, along with a 5 amp battery to replace a power setup to run my internet router and modem during a power failure. I was using another inverter plugged into my running car with a a 50 foot extension cord running into a basement window where it connected to another 25 foot cord leading to my router. That inverter was another brand and cost about $130 for only 150 watts. This inverter just sits by the router and I plug it in when needed. It has Sine Wave power with 300 watts which is very important.

I immediately put on a 5amp battery and plugged it into a small 100 watt 1.5 amp refrigertaor. It ran for an hour and the red flashinng light came on indicating an overload. This occured when the fridge cycled on. I reset and set the fridge to its lowest setting and it ran for another hour. You will get one hour run time for about 1.25 amp battery, or about an hour with their smallest 40 volt battery.
