Is that okay to get a new pressure washer with oil in the air filter?

Asked by Ganzo12345 November 29, 2020

Answers

NO.....it is NOT OK! It's a paper air filter and should not have any oil on it what so ever! Air filters that have oil on them are made of foam. Was your pressure washer covered in oil like mine was? It took me over an hour to clean mine up and then it only lasted 3 hours before the pump started leaking oil. I got a replacement 4 weeks later and after less than two hours the engine started leaking oil. GOOD LUCK!

Yes it does. I wouldn't be able to use it without one as it is pretty heavy for a 65yr old woman. I used it to pressure wash my own house.

Great question Floridapl! The RYOBI 18 ft. Extension Pole with Brush for Pressure Washer RY31EP26 is recommended for ground use and up only. If you can reach the roof from the ground using the extension pole, then yes, it will work. We do no recommend using this extension pole while on a ladder. I hope this helps and thanks for asking! - Eve

which psi pressure washers adapt to the ryobi 18ft extension pole

Asked by wyne September 25, 2020

The pole should work with all pressure washers IF the pressure washer hose has screw on connectors on both ends. Some have one screw on connector with a slip on quick connect on the other that may not mate with the Ryobi quick connect provided in the box. So, you either need to buy other Ryobi quick connect adapters or just get a hose with screw connectors on both ends. Also, get Ryobi pressure washer nozzles since none are included.

this pole/brush looks ideal for cleaning solar panels....anyone using it for this application?

I have not used it for that particular work but I have cleaned solar panels offshore removing inches of of seagull waste. I am positive this wand with brush would definitely work. However you must be very careful when releasing the trigger thus removing the force that could cause the wand to suddenly fall into the panel causing damage to panel and assembly.

Pros and Cons to consider
Ultimately, I returned the wand. It wasn’t suitable for two-story washing. Pros: The telescoping poles are cleverly designed. Shorter, thicker pipe pieces are more rigid than competing wands with fewer, longer poles. The pole clamps are far easier than the twist clamps on other wands. Cons: 1) No soap delivery. You must use a soap bottle accessory on the spray end apparently. I didn’t test this. 2) In my opinion, the pressure washer should be at least 3,500 psi for second story cleaning. Otherwise, the spray is under-powered. 3) See pics. Wand uses a horseshoe pin to fasten the wand’s internal hose line to the handle. It falls out unless secured with tape or wire. 4) 18 foot length is barely adequate for second story cleaning. Expect to get wet from the overhead spray. For second story homes, I would hire a service.

It gets the job done. Once it's fully extended it's a little hard to control. What it needs is a belt holder. I was setting it on top of my belt for leverage. As you can see I wasn't tall enough for the whole side of my house, but was able to power wash the other side just fine.

Although I was arm tired after using the device, I can truly say it was well worth it and it preformed well past my expectations. Easy to extend and to adjust back as needed and cleaned so well. I attached before and after pics, was fantastic at me age not having to use a ladder as well. Completed whole house in a day. A long day but still one!

Works ok but the pump takes at least a minute to fully prime even after I let water flow all the way through the wand before I start the pump. Then all you have to do is look at the water pump to see why “made in PRC” that why it stinks. Chinese garbage for roughly $500 gimme a break. I will return this unit and getting something American made so my $500 last a lifetime. Buy made in U.S.A. for American jobs!

cool tool, worth the cash
I was thinking that the price way too much, but it took a dangerous job that would have taken over an hour into a 15-minute job without getting off the ground. Why worth the money.

The pressure washer was easy to assemble, and the instructions very thoroughly explain assembly and the first start procedures. Everything went together simply, and the needed engine oil/lubricant is supplied with the unit. The pressure washer is very powerful, definitely should be able to handle most home projects. We pressure washed our exterior shed walls due to green algae growing from rainwater splash, and the patio. The 35' long pressure hose makes larger projects, or odd corners or areas far from the unit easier to reach. After filling with gas and oil, the washer started on the fifth or sixth pull with full choke, then on the first or second after adjusting to no choke. The gas tank is just under a half gallon, and it ran for around an hour and a half before needing to be filled. The unit's power is impressive, and it blasted away all dirt on bot the siding and concrete surfaces. The quick-change 5 in 1 nozzle is fantastic! It's so easy to switch the beam angle, and rotate the tip to adjust whether the spray is horizontal or vertical. Overall, gas washer require more maintenance than electrical ones. I was disappointed in all of the 'suggested' maintenance procedures associated with this unit. Pump lubricant is a necessity, and any time you wait more than 30 days between uses, you should drain the gas. For a residential user, that seems like a lot to ask for a tool that's typically not used that often. Look, the unit is super powerful and convenient for normal home owners. As long as you understand the required maintenance to take care of this washer, it's a great, great purchase. I would buy it again.

This is a nice unit. About 10 years ago, I bought a washer that had the same performance specifications as this unit, and it had sufficient power to do some serious cleaning. When we left Iowa, we sold it, but my wife said several times since she would like another one. My old system also had a Honda engine, which held up nicely. This unit has less shielding, which makes connecting the hoses much easier (very positive). Only concern here is if the hot engine accidently gets a blast of cold water, and would that possibly cause the engine to seize up. It shouldn’t be too difficult to keep the spray away from the engine, so possibility of damage should be slim. I like the feature of being able to reposition the handle, to make the storage area smaller. The wheels can also be removed quickly with a hitch pin, should a person need more room in transporting this in a SUV or similar vehicle. I was surprised these plastic wheels have ball bearings. I actually had some problems with the wheels on my previous washer, with the tabs holding the hug cap breaking. These wheels have a neat spoked design, and don’t need hug caps to look nice. This is the first time I used the adjustable spray head. It’s more convenient, and fewer small pieces to possibly loose. With only one spray head, you can leave it connected all the time. The only area I was disappointed with is the location of the engine’s rope pull in relation to the front handle. You have to pull at an angle, which isn’t good.

I had borrowed an old pressure washer extension from a friend but it was home-made and lacked the easily extended section that this Ryobi has. This one is over 16 feet long (mine measured 16'8" fully extended) and is enough to reach the highest point of my roof. It works good although the shoulder strap is not the most secure way to hold the pole while water is under pressure and makes it challenging to hold the tip in place when fully extended. Seems of good enough quality but I did have to tighten some of the cam locks upon assembly so the sections would stay locked in place.

The Ryobi telescoping wand does what the description says it will do. I am a soon to be 57 year old woman, 5'7" in ok shape and was able to handle the wand at full length. It does take strength to hold the unit up and balance. The shoulder strap was helpful but would have liked to have had a waist belt as well. Our power washer is 2200 psi which worked but think that 2800 psi as recommended would have done a better cleaning job. I will use the brush when we replace our power washer with a unit that has an onboard soap tank.

Looking for a pressure washer extension to reach high locations then this is a great tool to have. Assembly was easy and requires no tools. Simply assemble and attach to your current power washer and away you go. It is simply a telescoping set of tubes using clamps to customize the length required and a very long extension pressure hose. As with all telescoping tools, I found that the further you extend the tool the heavier it is and the harder to control. The large handle and shoulder strap do help to make it easier to manage. Fortunately, I do not require it to be fully extended and it I found that it worked great to clean my eaves and windows with good maneuverability and strength. It is constructed of mostly metal parts and feels very sturdy. The attached brush is large and makes cleaning siding and windows easier. It also reverts to a very small size which makes it easy to store. I think it greatly decreased my time cleaning my interior porch roof and siding so tio me it was worth the price tag.
