          Genius
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super cool! I used it during a power outage to extend the runtime of my ryobi 40v 300watt power inverter, It works great powered my internet, TV, fan & a couple lights for multiple hours. & when it runs low I can swap batteries without interruption. Great idea ryobi!

            Light and compact to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this backpack about last year and it keeps my blower light if I need to because you can remove the batteries and use just one if you have to get into tight spaces the only thing I can't wait for the next one is if they add some type of fan /cooling system to keep batteries from getting hot in the Arizona desert 🏜️

              Power to go
I have a Ryobi pole saw, a table saw, and a saws-all. Battery is the way to go-no gas, no plugs, no oil, no fuel going stale. Put the battery in and go. This solves long-term cutting needs when I have trees to trim or I am working outside and I do not want to set up with extension cords or generators. The backpack takes up to three batteries so you can get at least three solid hours out of your tool, or more if you get the bigger capacity batteries. There is an intermediary power brick that clips on your belt, and an attachment to the tool to power it. The real advantage is you can charge three batteries by leaving them in the backpack and plugging the unit into a 110 v outlet. Portable tools are that much more useful with portable power. This makes perfect sense when you think about a Ryobi snowblower. Having the power in the backpack means you can work longer, smarter, instead of swapping out batteries every 45 minutes. Having portable power turns these tools from amenities into production tools. You produce work like never before and easier than before. If you have the battery lawn mower like I do, this allows me to cut 12,000 sq feet of grass with power to spare. If I am out away from a charge plug, it almost does not matter because I really do not run out of battery. With three batteries at hand, I have several hours of capacity. Since this charges three batteries at once, I do not have to have three separate chargers. The more work you have, the more you need this to power your battery-powered tools. It is light enough even with the batteries in it. While the tool may be the focus, keep thinking. Focus on the batteries and how to charge them to avoid down time. This is your solution. With a five-year warranty, this is a great product.

This serves as a charger for multiple batteries and allows you to work longer without stopping
This is a good product that needs a few improvements to be a really great product. 1) This uses a proprietary connector to charge the batteries, I do not care for it, I would prefer thr ability to use an extension cord because chances are with the big pack I might not always have it around. 2) I am right handed and with the battery sticking out of left side of the chainsaw, the cord keeps rubbing /poking me as it protrudes out. I had to put the cord over my shoulder, wish there was a retaining clip to hold it there. 3) I would mainly use this for my chainsaws, so imagining storm cleanups, I would love it if this included lights on the pack so that others can spot me in the dark and to light up my work area. This has a rapid charger which is good, I had a 7.5 and a 4ah battery and to me it did not seem heavy. The harness is detachable. The charger is a sequential charger. The inverter monitors 4 ports but this device only uses 3. I love the lcd monitor so you can see how much juice is left and which battery is being used, I want something like this on the lawnmowers so I can instantly see what my battery level is. With my chainsaw attached I feel like a ghostbuster.

I love the concept, but its heavy
I was excited to get this backpack battery set from Ryobi. I now have 3 different 40volt tools and combining all their batteries into a single unit makes sense. Then I put it on...You definitely know it is on your back. I tried it out with my Ryobi Post Hole Digger and it worked as it should. I don't think it will work on my Ryobi Tiller and it may bet in my way as I use my Ryobi Chain Saw. The Backpack Battery Plug is heavy duty and plugs in easily to the tool. I like the way each battery can be placed in the backpack and draw the total power. Charging all the battery packs can be accomplished through one single plug in the side of the backpack. I think it has validity, but it may not work in all your Ryobi 40volt tools

Will probably all you to use your Ryobi 40volt tools all day long and never run out of power!
This Ryobi 40 VOLT BACKPACK POWER SUPPLY/ CHARGER is one of the most innovative power supply units on the market. It has three active battery ports that are compatible with all Ryobi 40 volt batteries. This “tool” is perfect for any Ryobi 40 volt user! As for me personally, I probably have purchased 15 to 20 Ryobi 18 volt plus tools and 12 or more 18 volt plus lithium batteries and the all are still doing the job”. But the 40 volt tools, (now more than 50 ) are just able to do work for a longer period of time. As of now, I only own one Ryobi 40 volt tool and it is one of the “EXPAND-IT” series tools which allow you to only purchase one “Power Head” and switch back and forth between seven attachments. My attachment tool is the snow blower and it was unbelievable how much snow I could clear from my side walks, driveways, porch and etc, but with the battery that came with it, it only runs for about 15 minutes and usually for me that was long enough. But I could see that if I needed to clear more driveway that 15 min would not be long enough, and “looking down the road” I can see my collection of Ryobi 40 volt tools increasing and my need for 40 volt power to power those tools also increasing, owning this BACKPACK/INTEGRATED CHARGER just seemed to make sense.

              Time Saver
I have a big yard, 1/3 of the property is wooded, so if I can get a tool that saves me time and effort on a project, I going to have it!! That's why I got this RYOBI backpack/charger!! I can charge 3 batteries in this backpack with the charger, put on the backpack and attach the adapter to any 40volt tool and spend a few hours working in the back yard before recharging, you can't beat that!! You can use this on the backpack or take it off and carry around the battery housing separately, eighter way, and it's nice not to have to change batteries often way out in the back yard!! This backpack is a little heavy with 3 batteries on board or if you're not use to using one, but overall, you will love the battery capacity with this tool, it's a solid, well-made backpack and a real time saver in the yard!!

Heavy but great for uninterrupted work.
Let me start by saying this power backpack will make you feel like you are in a 1980s ghost busting movie. Although the unit is a bit heavy, coming in at 12lbs empty and approx 22lbs with 3 40v batteries loaded in, the adjustable straps make it comfortable. The backpack has shoulder, chest and hip straps which can all be adjusted accordingly. The pack is super easy to operate, as it just requires lifting the lid (which holds itself in the open position, until you close it) and inserting your desired batteries. The unit will work with any number of batteries installed; you do not need to load 3 if you don’t want to. The 40v battery at the end of the backpack inserts into your tool of choice like any other battery. On the "battery" that gets inserted into the tool, you have a small screen displaying the charge status of the respective batteries that are loaded into the backpack. Charging of the batteries can be done while they are still inserted in the backpack via the included charging block, just note that the batteries will be charged sequentially and not at the same time. Overall, I am very pleased with the backpack as it allows me to run around and further away from my workstation without having to worry about grabbing another battery to swap out (note that run time will depend on how many and what kind of 40v batteries you put into your pack). The cable between the battery insert and the backpack is a bit thick but it is of good length and doesn't get in the way. At first it felt a bit awkward, but once you figure out if you prefer the cable in front or behind you, you forget it's there. Another thing I want to mention that I thought was neat is that the shell of the backpack can be removed from the harness to allow one to quick swap another shell onto a user.

There is good and not so good.
There is good and not so good. What I mean by this is the good is having a three port quick charger that is like a suitcase to seal and protect your batteries from damage. The way I look at it is carrying the extra two extra batteries and the case on your back when you're working. It's not that hard to go to your truck to change batteries and by the time your battery is dead it time to quench your thirst. Your only talking about a few minutes. It is a great charger, But the extra wait of a back pack and batteries is not for me. I hope this helps with your decision. Good luck with all your projects.

              More power!
I just received my Ryobi 40V Backpack Power Supply/ Charger. the main reason I got this is for camping. I can load in three 40v batteries ( not included) and run my converter ( not included) running 110 power and usb accessories. I also think if I’m at the edge of my property trimming trees with my Ryobi chainsaw and pole saw, I’m able to get my work done without worries of running out of power. I don’t have to change out the batteries, I just continue to work. The back pack can get a little heavy with the 3 batteries installed. But if you adjust the backpack It is fairly comfortable.
