I wouldn’t buy again. Cant handle large snow fall. Gets clogged and stops. Do yourself a favor and invest in a gas powered heavy duty snowblower

    A little trooper!
As you can see from the picture, with the fence, there's no easy way to shovel snow in my driveway. You have to throw it far! The first year at this house using a shovel was terrible. But this is the second or third year that I've used this snow blower. I had been gifted a 6hp tank treaded monster snow blower. But it was so big and heavy, it was very hard to store. Plus, I've been moving away from all things gasoline. I traded my dad for the cost of this little guy and we both won. It uses the same batteries as my lawn mower (also awesome). Because I have the mower, I have two chargers and two 5AH batteries. That's pretty much enough to hit all but the deepest snow in one charge. Recharging (via both chargers and hot batteries after use) take about 3 hours. As you can see from the picture, that's about 2-3 inches of snow. It cuts thru that like butter. Much deeper, or the hard pack at the end of the driveway and you need to cut it a few times. But still, I did all of that, the pad, the driveway, the deck, the front sidewalk and even two swipes of the hard pack in the street and had plenty of charge left in my second battery, Like others have said, don't let the snow get too deep. I time my work around when the snow might break. The past week or two, it has snowed several times. I either hit it right after the snow has stopped, or if its constant, hit it around 9pm and then again in the morning. If it gets around six inches deep, I have a hard time moving it without piling on top of itself. But at 3-4 inches, it can throw over the fence with ease. The best part? It always starts, I never need to drive over the drive way to go get more gas BEFORE I've cleared it with the blower, I can pick it up and put it on the deck and porch with ease and I even store it in my garage attic 8 months out of the year. Even for Chicago winters, I'm a big fan of this little guy :)

      Falling apart after one use
The lower rod has snapped in half and bolts holding the hand bars keep coming off. I had to duct tape them. Very cheaply made. Wish I had saved my money.

Hello, Hal L - We apologize for the poor experience you are having with this snow blower! If you would, will you please be looking for an email from us at reviews@ryobitools.com? We want to talk about this with you so we can try to turn this around!
        Just right
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It works great, 1 battery clears out the whole section I needed it to. I have an extra since I have the chainsaw too (which is awesome btw). It's a lot lighter and smaller than the gas powered ones, and I can easily store it through the summer. Easy and fun to use, the kick-out of snow when it gets going is surprisingly good.

          Great value for money!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great value for money! I used it in wet heavy snow, and it worked pretty well, obviously not as well as a gas snow blower, but you are not paying as much either! It is light for a petite woman like me to use plus very easy to store as the handle is foldable. I also love the inter-useability of the batteries with my lawnmower! Great product! Very happy!

            Love this thing
Just cleaned 6 inches from my driveway. 100 feet. By 20 feet. In the same time my neighbor used with his gas power blower. Only I didn’t need to mix gas last night Just made sure my battery was charging The battery lasted through the Driveway and walk If there is more than 6 inches or so I clean the drive after the first 6 inches. And again later. But that will change when I buy a second battery gonna buy the matching leaf blower so I’ll be using the batteries year round Great product. Don’t want to fool with gas cans in 20 degree weather ? This is for you.

Great little snow blower to have!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would have given it a 5 star rating, but have only had to use it twice so far. LOVE it! Will be interesting to see just how long the battery lasts on a charge. Worked great on our front deck with about 10" of snow

I purchased this last spring with hesitation. I have been mostly pleasantly surprised. This season included the snowiest February on record here in Minnesota. The machine cleared snow including plow piles and deep drifts as well as any 20" gas single stage blower i've owned. It is much lighter and easy for the family to use. Unfortunately just prior to the last big snowfall the battery became stuck in the active battery port. I cannot remove it. I attempted to remove the compartment door to get slightly more leverage and the spring that holds the door open shot into a snowbank and is gone. The battery is still stuck and I had to use my Gas Blower for the first time this year on what appears to be the last major snowfall of the year. Almost made it one full season before disappointment. Only other complaint (along the same line) would be Battery access. The doors make it difficult to properly align the batteries when installing and they get in the way during removal.

Good Value - Easy to use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second winter using this snow blower. We don't typically have harsh winters where I live, so this works perfect for me. The 40V 5 Ah battery works well for my driveway and walkways. I have found that using batteries less than the 5 Ah will cause the snow blower to struggle a little, but with the 5 Ah I've had no problems. It also struggles a little in icy snow, but that was expected.

I only bought this because I have the 40v lawn mower and I was extremely impressed with it's performance so I figured I'd give this snow blower a shot. I live in Western NY and our winters can be extremely unpredictable so I still anticipated having to shovel quite a bit when we got heavy wet snow even after I bought this. Much to my surprise this little snow blower handles better than expected and is able to keep up with much more snow than anticipated (if you have the batteries for it). Similar to the mower, the big selling point for me was the ability to fold this blower up and carry it to the back of the garage over the vehicles. Any gas blower would have to be stored behind the house and would be that much harder to use. The perfect conditions for this blower are about 2" - 8" of powder. I have a 6 car driveway with a mild slope (my wife gets stuck with her van sometimes) and this thing can handle that much snow on a single 5ah battery. I was away for the weekend and came home to about 12" of semi-wet snow and with enough batteries this blower was able to tackle it (I have (2) 5.0Ah and (2) 2.4Ah). Granted, it doesn't handle the end of the driveway where the plows have pushed snow in (unless you chop it up) but it really did tackle the rest of it, even if I had to lift the front end up to get over the mounds of snow. It does struggle with any areas that are packed down by car tire tracks but you can either just run a shovel down those quickly loosen them or accept the fact that you're going to have a 1/2" of snow left after the blower is done. Another downside is the shoot adjustment handle can be tough to figure out but after my first few times using it, I haven't had any additional issues. For the price of this blower you really can't go wrong. As long as you understand that it won't chew through 18" of heavy snow and you need some extra batteries, it really is a great way to cut your shoveling time in half (or more).
