[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My review is based on the vacuum feature as I got this solely for that purpose, and not to use it as a blower.After being disappointed with the first Leaf Vac Attack, I was hoping that this one would be an improvement. On paper it looked like all my complaints with the Gen 1 version was addressed. This one removed the need to constantly squeeze the handle to operate it, now you simply turn a dial and it will run in the Low, Med, or High speed. They listened to my previous complaints about the bag and added flaps to the exterior, they are located on the sides and this funnels all off dust to the back as oppose to having it blow out of the bag in every direction. I gave this a 1 star because it is still way too heavy to operate for an extended amout of time the handle does not stay in position and I am constantly readjusting it. This needs an attachment where you can connect a trash can to the vacuum, so you can reduce the need to have the weight of the bag bog you down and that is with the 2Ah battery, I tried it with the 7.5A battery and that was a workout for my shoulder. There is a harness but it is cumbersome to use for me. I used this in various locations as I do a lot of community service cleanups, and cleanup vacant lots, so having to carry the harness around is a hassle. For someone who uses this solely in one location, carrying the harness and extra accessories around would not be an issue for them. Another thing that I do not like is the fact that you have to shut the tool off to see how much juice is in the battery. If you try and check the gauge while it is running, it will always show 1 bar and shutting it off and checking will produce a different answer. For tools that operate continuously, I feel there should be a gauge that is always on at all times so you can know instantly if you have enough juice, as it draws a lot of power and is easy for you to loose track and time and before you know it, the battery is dead. I do not like the mechanism to remove the bag, with the knob I nearly cut my hand trying to turn it as it became jammed a few time and did not budge easily. I would have preferred if this came with a tool to clear the impalers from debris that were clogging it. If a bag or something clogs it, it will shut off almost right away which is good. The tool will not operate if the bag is not inserted properly. This did a good job of mulching the leaves finely. I believe it has 2 sets of impalers. With the original one, I mainly use it to clean grass trimmings as oppose to leaves, due to its suction. This one has better suction and I would have preferred if this one had wheels, similar to the gen 1 model, to prevent the nozzle for attaching to the ground due to the suction. All in all I cannot recommend this, as it is just too heavy to continuously operate. This takes step in the right direction. but needs a lot of improving.

This is what I have been looking for for a long time. I do not have a big yard but three two big and tall trees leaping into my yard. Every fall it was disaster for my yard because of the sheering amount of leaves piling up there. I have to do three passes at different weeks until there are no more leaves to clean. This year alone, I used about 20 Costco bags before I this ryobi machine. This machine is amazing because how much power it has to collect and compress leaves. The only issue I had with the machine is I was not able to turn it on initially. I contacted ryobi technician and figured out that it was the safety mechanism. You have to make sure all parts all tightly connected.

The RYOBI 40V HP Brushless 100 MPH 600 CFM Cordless Leaf Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum w/(2) 4.0 Ah Batteries & Charger is a high performance and powerful tool. When I used it as a blower it did a great job but was so strong it blew the loose rocks also. When I used it as a vacuum it has plenty of suction and does a good job of vacuuming the leaves but watch out as it will suck up loose rocks too. It would stop when rocks were sucked up but started again when cleared. Wearing the harness was needed when using the vacuum bag as it got heavy but it was also kind of awkward to use. Note that the tool will not run unless you attach the long blower tube as it must have a connection switch for safety. Overall I would recommend it for someone with a large property and many trees since it will cut your cleanup time.

I got this to replace my current Ryobi Jet Fan Blower. This new Ryobi 40V Brushless 100 MPH/600 CFM Leaf Blower/Vacuum/Mulcher is so powerful it cuts my job in half. Plus, it is brushless. After some initial connection issues I tackled the dreaded yard clean up for the season. It is heavier, and the tubing is longer. But, wearing the harness helps or switching from hand-to-hand while moving along helps. I had to vacuum in a tight space and opted to not use the vacuum nozzle. With leaves that is no problem. But, with pine needles it does best with the nozzle on. This is so powerful I was amazed at how quickly I got done with my regular leaf blowing. It vacuumed leaves up just as impressively. It vacuumed up wet leaves too. But, it would not vacuum up wet matted leaves. The mulcher left extremely small piles of mulch compared to my other mulcher. It is more cumbersome, and the mode selector was initially sticky. But, it was absolutely amazing how quick I got done with the job. That makes it worth it for me.

This is a professional grade heavy duty tool with accessories. If you have a large yard with lots of trees and leaves (or if you’re a professional landscaper), this is well worth considering. The batteries charge in about 40 minutes. I got mine after the leaves were gone, so I cannot review how long the charge lasts. The power wheel switch has 4 settings: off, low, med, & high—very handy. Switching from blower to vacuum essentially requires disassembly & reassembly as a different tool. But, provide the knob doesn’t catch, it’s relatively easy to do. Surprisingly, the tool also came with a back harness with clips to bear the weight of the tool, battery, & bag full of leaves. All this combines to make this is a great portable tool, especially for professionals.

RYOBI 40V HP Brushless 100 MPH 600 CFM Cordless Leaf Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum w/(2) 4.0 Ah Batteries & Charger. This is a nice combo machine. I received this and initially couldn't get it to work. I let home depot know and with in about a week, (this was over the holiday week) ryobi called me. They told me to try a few things to see if it would would and sure enough, he was right. The main tube that connects to the motor was not pushed in all the way. There is a safety that if the tube is not on all the way that the motor will not turn on. The rep for ryobi was great. One thing to watch out for is the packaging, it just comes in the black and green ryobi box. If you have porch pirates be aware of this. It comes with 2 batteries, charger, and the vacuum mulcher bag. To put it in vacuum is really easy also its just a flip of a switch, install the bag lock it and away you go.

The Ryobi 40V HP blower /mulcher vacuum is the best blower/vacuum tool I have used. I tried to mulch a bag of mixed leaves and pine needles I had bagged up before the snow came. This mulcher is not made or intended for pineneedles. My bag was probably 70% or more pine needles and leaf mix. Needless to say the mulcher didn't like all of the pineneedles, in small sections they mulched ok but if too thick would plug up and shut the tool off. The mulcher did great when I hit the leaf pockets. I used to dred leaf clean up every fall but I am looking forward to next season! One negative, this tool makes a loud high pitch tone and you will need some sort of hearing protection. The tool is also heavy espically when the leaf bag gets full, but the provided vest/ tool support works well to spread the weight to your shoulders. I do wish it had a waste belt not just the padded shoulders and sternum strap. As mentioned earlier the snow came before I could use this on pure leaves, but the blower works great on dry powder snow, along with blowing dust out of my garage. The tool comes with a broad leaf tip for the vacuum part, and a speed tip that increases the mph from 80 to 100 for blowing different needs. The "d" handle adjusts for different carry positions and the turning wheel with low, medium and high settings is nice for long use applications so you don't have to hold a trigger down the whole time.

This Ryobi 40-volt HP cordless when used as a leaf blower does a fantastic job of 100 MPH and 600 CFM will handle any leaf blowing job you want to take on. Up here in the Northwest I will also use this Ryobi 40-volt cordless leaf blower when have a powdery snow fall to blow off the walks and driveway. To use this Ryobi as a leaf vacuum it has plenty of suction and does a good job of vacuuming of leaves, but watch the bag closer than I did, as I had it plug up and had to use air to blow out the leaves along the side of the motor. I found wearing the harness and the Ryobi tool with bag was a little large and awkward for me; this is why the rating.

This is an innovative product. It can be used as a leaf blower, and as leaf vacuum/mulcher. It did very well at mulching the very large maple leaves in my yard. I used the mulch for my raspberry patch. The shoulder harness adjusts very easily and can be clipped to the tool on the left side or on the right side for right-handed or left-handed operation. The base of the tool is nice and wide so it stays upright with set on the ground. When I first got the tool, I couldn’t get the tool to work. But then, I figured out that there is a small tab 5mm by 5mm on the top of the black lower tube that presses a small microswitch inside the top front of the tool. I found that I can successfully get the tool to work every time by sliding the lower tube onto the upper tube, then slide back ¼ inch, and then slide forward again. This causes the lower tube to be in the correct position to press on the microswitch properly. I find that the green plastic at the top and bottom of the speed dial is sharp and I will probably file it so that it is not so sharp. I was disappointed to find that the bottom of the tube inside of the vacuum bag was broken when I was cleaning it. The screw tab at the bottom had cracked. This could have been designed better with stronger tabs, or this very big elbow could have been designed as one piece. Overall, this is an innovative product with lots of features.

I've had several different blower vacuum combos and they almost always aren't worth your time or the price. The last one I got was a Sun Joe and it was a bad vacuum and a worse blower. This is an excellent blower and a pretty decent vacuum. To switch from vacuuming to blowing there's a knob you have to turn on the back which will pop a plastic piece off and then turn the fan to face the other direction. I think this is why it does really well at both tasks. I do have one complaint this thing is huge! It's a bit unwieldy and it comes with straps to help you hold it because it's so large. Also, it advertises that it has metal fan blades. It has little metal blades in front of the fan blades. I feel like this really opens up the plastic blades to being broken so I'm not sure I trust it and would have really liked to have all metal fan blades.
