This battery will last long if you’re conservative on pulling the trigger on the trimmer or depending on what attachment you use how much power you’re using. If you’re constantly holding the trigger all the way for an extended period of time it will drain the battery quicker. Trimming my back and front yard on a fully charged battery, at times using more power at different spots in my yard due to how thick weeds are, decreased my battery power. I was able to use the trimmer for about 35 mins before it depleted. Although it may be rated for 4 amp hours remember this is just a unit of measurement. In this 40v battery you should be able to have 4amps last about an hour before it discharges. But as I mentioned before when you increase the speed of the tool you’re decreasing the time of how much power the battery is able to provide. With rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries as you have to charge it initially for 24 hrs and use it until it completely discharges so that it’s able to recharge and give you optimal battery life. The only thing I don’t like about this batter is the price. When I first bought this battery in the middle of 2019 it only cost $99. But now the price jumped up to $189. It could be because of the lack lithium but I don’t know. If I would’ve known the price would jump up due to circumstances beyond anyone's control I would’ve just bought a gas powered trimmer instead because the the cost of the battery is just as much.

Ryobi battery
The battery works fine, but I got it to replace my mower battery and the cover doesn't fit over it so it must be larger than the original battery. It doesn't seem to be a problem but something to note.

Too Big. Pictures Say It All
The 5AH battery (left) in photos 1&2 is the replacement for the old 5AH battery (right). Ryobi says it's a fit for my 2018 RY40109 Mower. Problem is, the mower's battery cover won't close with the new battery installed. Ryobi reps keep insisting that it will fit, but when questioned about the hatch being open, they say they don't recommend running with the mower this way. (third photo). Talking to them about this seems useless. So I'll post my frustration here, with a goal to switch brands ASAP

So Far So Good!
This is my second Ryobi battery and they work great with my mower and vacuum. They also don't take very long to charge either. A bit pricey but I think they are worth it.

Battery failed
Purchased a Ryobi weed eater about 1 year so I've only used it about 20 times. Battery on it completely dead now. I asked Home Depot they said I have to mail it back (at my expense / time) to Ryobi and they will replace it. They sell just this 4Ah battery for a small fortune and I'm certain it comes from China for about $10 USD. Ryobi needs to have better quality control over their Asian factories. Now, I'll never buy another Ryobi product with a lithium battery.

Charge with care make sure you’re home!
Used a five amp battery pack with my chainsaw this weekend and the picture below is the result after charging.
The battery was HOT after using it and I let it sit for over two hours before charging it.
I have probably only used this battery pack 6-8 times since I’ve had it.
So just make sure that wherever you’re charging it keep it away from anything flammable and keep an eye on it.
Don’t place on charge and leave home!

Love my Ryobi 40V System
I have converted to using all Ryobi battery driven products around my home for garden, yard care, and power tools. I was sick of spending money on gasoline powered yard care tools for edging, trimming and hedge trimming that constantly broke down. Since moving to the Ryobi 40V system, i have not had to repair the drive system a single time.
I have heard complaints about how long the batteries last on a single charge but i have not seen the problem. I have 1/2 acre with fences, raised beds, garden, driveway and roadway and I dge every week. It takes me 1-1/2 hours to complete all of it and i do it on a single charge. I have a second area that is 175 ft by 15 ft around a group of trees that must be done separately but even it is done on a single charge and it takes two passes to complete. I recharge my single battery between doing the main yard and the area around the trees, which takes about 1-1/2 hours. While the battery recharges i mow the rest of the yard. These new systems have saved me trips for gas, mixing gas and oil and the storage. And oh yes i have tried the 4 cycle engines too and they last just the same as the 2 cycle- no thanks! As long as you have access to a charging station, ie. you are not working out in the woods somewhere, this is the way to go. Recommend these to my brother who had rotator cuff surgery and he is super pleased. No more pulling stater ropes for gasoline engines and less risk of reinjuring his shoulder. I also use this system for my hedge trimmers, garden tiller, blower, and edger. The only way to go!

One season battery
The battery works great for the season, and then when you charge it in a few months, it won't charge.
I can't afford to buy a new battery every spring!! I have a weed eater and blower. I guess I need to buy a new weed eater and blower that's battery will last as long as the warranty!!
