Hello - could anyone tell me if this is loud ? I was going to use at a campsite but I don't want one that others campers could hear. Thank you
Asked by: Regina
I don't believe there is such a generator that others won't hear, but this is probably as close as you will come. Obviously under-load it is a bit louder, but I would compare the idle sound level to a noisy floor fan on high; if that helps.

Will this power my travel trailers furnace?

I'm looking for a small gen to power it off of propane
Asked by: Mattg
The Generator is 700 Watts Continuous. Most RV Furnaces use propane with a 12 VDC blower motor. My particular furnace draws 18 amps. This means. 18 Amps x 12 Volts = 216 Watts which is way under the 700 Watt continuous rating.

Will this power a 450W (5000btu) window air conditioner unit?

Asked by: janc1978
A window A/C unit with 450 running watts is going to pull like 1500 watts (or more) on startup. I had the very same idea for this generator, but I seriously doubt it's going to run a hard-start motor like A/C.

Will this put out enough to charge for my Ryobi cordless tools?

Asked by: Lee
Hi Lee, This should be more than enough to run a Ryobi battery charger. Thanks for asking. Greg

I have only gotten the generator fired-up today; but I have no doubts that it will operate as advertised and meet my needs. I do have an issue with Ryobi 'Design'. This is the 2nd Ryobi Generator I have purchased, and both share this problem. One should check the Oil Level before every use; but both Generators require the removal of a side-panel to access the Oil Dip-Stick. To remove the panel requires removing 'Screws'; But The 'Screws' Are Not 'Captive'. The black Screws will fall out of the panel and are Very Easily Lost. I put 4mm 'E-Rings' on the screws on the inside surface of the panel to help prevent their loss. It seems that for 'Screws' that will be so frequently removed, making them 'Captive' would be Very logical ! It also seems that making the 'Oil' Dip-Stick' accessible without removing a side-panel would be a Great Idea as well.

Read instr, added oil, pulled rope 10 times to distribute oil, primed, turned on switch, pulled twice and it started. Ran for 10 min and shut off, let cool, checked oil. Next ran 150 watt light bulb for 20 min, shut off, let cool, checked oil which was down from full but still on dipstick. Next ran 300 watt load for 45 min to seat the piston rings, shut off, let cool and checked oil. Oil was barely on dipstick. Added 1 ounce of oil which surprised me but perhaps will be less after rings fully seat and piston becomes "broken-in". All this was on a 1 lb propane steel bottle which rattled and banged around as the space for the bottle is too large and this made quite a racket. I purchased a longer hose than what came with it and will be using my larger 30# tank in case of a power outage. Other than these 2 stupid things which demand attention from Ryobi's quality control department, this is a well made unit and I am quite pleased with it.

I already have a big 8 kW generator, but it takes a while to set it up. In case of a typical power outage out here, 2-3 hours max, it wouldn't make sense to get that big boy going. With this, I have enough power for electronics and some light in literally less than 5 minutes. Runs on propane, so I don't have to deal with gasoline going bad while in storage (and the smell). Quiet enough. Note: it says 700 W, but it's more like 700 VA. I tested it with a Kill-a-Watt. Using a hair dryer with a PF of 0.7, the generator disconnected at around 525 W / 750 VA. I'm sure there's a fine-print note somewhere in the manual that says that the 700 W are for a pure resistive load. One pleasant surprise: how easy it is to start. I read the reviews that say that it starts on the second pull even when brand new. I thought: "yeah, right". Well, it's true! I un-boxed it today and tested it for maybe half-an hour. Now it's in storage, waiting for the next power outage. Hopefully it'll perform just as well as it did today!

I bought this at Home Depot in preparation for Hurricane season last year, 2017, I used it during Hurricane Irma Power outage, At first it was a great, weightless and easy to move around, a full tank of propane 20 Lb would last around 13 to 14 hours, not as noisy as others around the neighborhood. But this year, 2018, I was getting ready for Hurricane season again, took it out of storage and after pulling the rope way more times than when it was out of the box, the generator started for a minute, the engine rev. went higher and higher and it died, I started it again and again it kept doing it again and again until my back and my hand couldn't take it anymore. YES, I had a full 20 Lb propane tank, YES, I did followed instructions, Plus I had used it perfectly about 8 month ago, during Hurriane Irma. If you do not want to buy a Generator every Hurricane Season, DO NOT BUY THIS ONE. Now I need to buy a new one and it wont be one of this.

It has met all my expectations. It was easy to start and is quiet. We typically have a 43 inch tv, dish receiver, a crock pot and phones charging and have no issues. Many of our tailgating neighbors (with large gasoline powered units) have asked our opinion of this unit. The compact size is a major plus when packing all of the other tailgating necessities. I recommend using the hose attachment and a 20lb tank as I found the smaller cylinders more difficult to thread and didn't want to mess up the threads, therefore, I leave the hose attached.

Got this generator to run a temporary remote communications site. We needed propane for the long run time, an inverter generator because of the sensitive electronics it was going to be powering but wanted something inexpensive because the site is so remote. We have ran it 24/7 in 100 degree heat for about a month stopping it only to change the oil every 4 days. It will run for about 9 days on a 100lb tank with the load we have on it. It's quiet. Good on fuel. Power is clean and consistent. The price is good. I could not be more impressed with this generator. 2 other things to know: It's small. Only 700 watts. Make sure that will meet your need. For me it was perfect. The connection where you connect the gas bottle is aluminum. I have not had a problem but believe it could be if you are not careful. Really happy with this product.
