Hi Bobo, You will receive a bottle of oil to add to the inverter to start off with but it takes around 10oz of oil. Hope this helps. Greg

No you can't, because the Ryobi already has a built in regulator, and it needs unregulated LPG (at full tank pressure).

Oil doesn't go through any lines. It's a bath style lubrication.

Can this charge a vexilar?

Hi NN, This is 120v power only and the Vexilar fish finder would need to be powered by 120v and not 12v. Thanks for your interest. Greg

how loud is it?

Asked by MissB October 13, 2019

It does make considerable noise, but it is close to being one of the quietest generators in existence. The noise rating on its box is 61 dBa. I've heard only one generator that was quieter, and that one had an extra noise-reduction kit added. I took mine on a desert camping vacation, this month (October), and in a place where one could ordinarily hear a person talking a hundred yards away, that was the distance away from the generator that one ordinarily could hear it. Standing close to it, two persons can converse in an ordinary way and be heard; that is, one need not shout in order to be heard. Most of the generator's noise comes from the exhaust, so it is possible to reduce noise by adding a secondary muffler. I do not know of any noise-reduction kit being made for it, but someone who is clever with tools could devise and attach one.

Will it safely charge my e bike? With a 42 volt 504 Wh battery

As long as your charger doesn't draw too much to trip the circuit. Check the input on your charger or get a usage monitor to see what it uses. As long as it's less than 600 watts.

will it have power enough to run a 12 volt battery charger?

Will this operate a 700 watt microwave?

Asked by JR August 19, 2019

Answers

Hi, JR- Thanks for the question. If your microwave's starting watts pushes the power requirement past 900, you'll need a generator with a larger power capacity. Your microwave's manufacturer should be able to provide the starting and running wattage requirements if you don't have them handy. We hope this helps!

Great little generator for charging computers and phones, it's kept our small business open during the blackouts! Easy to transport between home and work in the trunk of the car, and the ability to disconnect it from the propane tank between uses has been a great option for us! Can't wait to use it for camping and at the river this summer!

Excellent for camping
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to take on a camping trip with our pop up camper. It worked as expected. You may need to consider elevation when trying to determine your watt needs. I bought a 5lb propane tank to keep with it.

This is a good, quiet little generator for really light applications. Considering a toaster is too much for it, you are very restricted on what it's good for. It's fairly easy to start, but always takes a couple pulls, Maybe just getting used to propane fed carb(?) It's light so easy to haul around. Is good for lighting or charging cell phones. Cons: The instructions tell you to check the oil lever EVERY time you use it, but the oil cap is behind the side panel held by four screws, that are not captive so can be easily lost in the grass. There should be an easier way, like a pop-open panel, snaps or a view window for checking oil level. No 12v or USB. You would think that it would have been mandatory these days to have at least a 12v socket so I wouldn't have to plug in an adapter for those times I need 12v power. USB sockets would have been nice. The propane adapter hose for a 20lb bottle is really difficult to screw in. The manual tells you the oil volume is 10oz but they only include 8.5oz in the box (made in China oil at that) Overall I would recommend it for when you don't need the big 120lb generator since it is so small and convenient. And with propane you don't have to worry about spilling gas or the carb clogging up from sitting a while. I just hope it holds up in the long run. Time will tell.

Real quiet
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven't run it outside if the initial start up thats the only reason I gave it a 4 star instead of 5. Lightweight unit easy to move around. Came packaged very safe. Super quiet running.

I have only gotten the generator fired-up today; but I have no doubts that it will operate as advertised and meet my needs. I do have an issue with Ryobi 'Design'. This is the 2nd Ryobi Generator I have purchased, and both share this problem. One should check the Oil Level before every use; but both Generators require the removal of a side-panel to access the Oil Dip-Stick. To remove the panel requires removing 'Screws'; But The 'Screws' Are Not 'Captive'. The black Screws will fall out of the panel and are Very Easily Lost. I put 4mm 'E-Rings' on the screws on the inside surface of the panel to help prevent their loss. It seems that for 'Screws' that will be so frequently removed, making them 'Captive' would be Very logical ! It also seems that making the 'Oil' Dip-Stick' accessible without removing a side-panel would be a Great Idea as well.

This thing is GREAT. Got this generator to run a temporary remote communications site. We needed propane for the long run time, an inverter generator because of the sensitive electronics it was going to be powering but wanted something inexpensive because the site is so remote. We have ran it 24/7 in 100 degree heat for about a month stopping it only to change the oil every 4 days. It will run for about 9 days on a 100lb tank with the load we have on it. It's quiet. Good on fuel. Power is clean and consistent. The price is good. I could not be more impressed with this generator. 2 other things to know: It's small. Only 700 watts. Make sure that will meet your need. For me it was perfect. The connection where you connect the gas bottle is aluminum. I have not had a problem but believe it could be if you are not careful. Really happy with this product.

I have been looking for a small, quiet propane generator for a while now. I ran across this Ryobi propane generator when it was on sale. I saw the reviews looked good so I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. I already own a Honda EU100i gasoline generator. It is great, but due to the lousy ethanol gasoline we have in California, the carburetor get clogged a lot (not Honda's fault). With propane, the fuel enters as a vapor - so no gum up issues... This generator ran great from the start. I used both a 1 lbs propane bottle and then used the included hose to hook up to a 20 lbs propane tank. No problems from either one. The only real flaw in my opinion is the the lack of a 12 volt charging port. Every other generator has a built in 12 volt charger... And it is something I use all the time. Now I am forced to also carry a separate 12 volt charger. This is the only reason I took one star off. Take a look at my photos. You will see the generator running at the full rated load off 700 Watts. I ran it this way for over an hour. The circuit breaker never popped. -Steve

Bought this during a sale. 5 stars for design, portability, shipping, price and concept. It gets 4 stars from me because the tank adapter seems to have issues attaching to the threads on the generator itself. I’ve had multiple people try it and all came to the same conclusion. The priming button on mine is rusted on the spring and around the button. Shouldn’t be if it’s new. The things I mentioned may be nit picking, but that’s why it’s my review and not “our” review. This is my very first generator of any type and I bought it primarily for tent camping and times you need power at a park. It’s my 17th tool/toy from Ryobi and I enjoy it so far. By the way, I haven’t tried to hook up the one pound propane tanks to see if threads are the same as the adapter. If you’ve read this much, just buy it already.
