Questions & Answers

Will this power my travel trailers furnace?

I'm looking for a small gen to power it off of propane
Asked by: MattG
Maybe. You furnace needs 12v power and propane. The generator needs to be able to power your converter that supplies 12 volt power. If you have a low battery the converter could overload the generator trying to charge the battery. Otherwise if the battery is mostly full you will have no troubles. Newer RVs don't need a battery to run the furnace and you could disconnect the battery to prevent repeated overload. www.rv.net

Hello - could anyone tell me if this is loud ? I was going to use at a campsite but I don't want one that others campers could hear. Thank you
Asked by: Regina
I don't believe there is such a generator that others won't hear, but this is probably as close as you will come. Obviously under-load it is a bit louder, but I would compare the idle sound level to a noisy floor fan on high; if that helps.

900 Starting Watt Propane Powered Inverter Generator is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 186.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fenominal Off-grid generator I purchased this generator a year ago. I am completely off grid in West Texas. It is the best purchase I could have made. I run it between 10 and 12 hours a day and sometimes more. I can charge my Ryobi battery s, cell phone, Kindle, Fan, a 1.3 cu fridge and small TV all at same time with watts to spare. I take excellent care of her. I change the oil every other 20lb tank sometimes more in the summer. I change the spark plugs and about every 200 to 300 hours, clean the filter often and do all required maintenance religiously. All of these things are easy to do. I am a 67 year old female living alone off-grid so I taught myself how to maintain. It will only last in relation to how you have cared for it. That's true of your car too. I cannot say how much I love this generator. It has never failed from 100 summer days to below freezing in winter. If you do not require more than 700 watts then this would be for you.

For the umptheen time my Honda generator had a fouled carb from old fuel when I went to use it. It's 90% used to charge my batteries on my trailer. Found this and ordered on-line, got it the next day delivered to my house. Hooked it to my 40lb lp tank on the Airstream, after I got the hose it came with lengthened to 8'. The hose it comes with is 12" long making it useless. Started per the instructions. Slightly louder than the Honda 2000 but soooo much lighter! Unfortunately its overload switch is too low and it will not power the trailer's inverter, it kicks the overload switch even with everything in the trailer turned off. I had a gas Yamaha 1000 that worked fine and didnt run hard at all so I expected this to work being rated at 900 max. Really bummed because it could have been the perfect gasoline free solution.

Considering a toaster is too much for it, you are very restricted on what it's good for. It's fairly easy to start, but always takes a couple pulls, Maybe just getting used to propane fed carb(?) It's light so easy to haul around. Is good for lighting or charging cell phones. Cons: The instructions tell you to check the oil lever EVERY time you use it, but the oil cap is behind the side panel held by four screws, that are not captive so can be easily lost in the grass. There should be an easier way, like a pop-open panel, snaps or a view window for checking oil level. No 12v or USB. You would think that it would have been mandatory these days to have at least a 12v socket so I wouldn't have to plug in an adapter for those times I need 12v power. USB sockets would have been nice. The propane adapter hose for a 20lb bottle is really difficult to screw in. The manual tells you the oil volume is 10oz but they only include 8.5oz in the box (made in China oil at that) Overall I would recommend it for when you don't need the big 120lb generator since it is so small and convenient. And with propane you don't have to worry about spilling gas or the carb clogging up from sitting a while. I just hope it holds up in the long run. Time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nearly everything you want It can't power your fridge or heater or cooking devices but it can give you light and connectivity. On top of that, it runs on propane so you can run it and leave it and not worry about the carburetor getting buggered up by stale gasoline. This is the most perfect option for a few days without power to stay connected and function with light in your house. HIGHLY Recommended. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and works great This thing isn't going to power your house, but its great to power a few small things while being budget friendly and quieter than gas powered generators. I would recommend getting a bigger tank and using the included line to hook it up for a cheaper and better way to run it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Propane powered generators great! Bought generator to keep my RV batteries charged where no ac is availiable. Powers my 30 amp 12 volt charger with no problem. Also stores inside my rv without gas fumes to worry about just remove the propane cylinder. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
