Q:To echo another post - I know this is an old question, but I am having the same issue. The issue is not getting the drill bit out of the drill, it is getting it out of the case. Very poorly designed case. I no longer use.

Q:I know this is the dumbest question ever, but I can't get the drill bits out of the holder. I'm having to use a pliers to get them out and still can't get some. Any suggestions?

Q:What drill do you recommend for these? I tried the biggest bit from this with ONE+ 18V Cordless 1/2 in. Drill/Driver Kit with (2) 1.5 Ah Batteries and Charger to drill tree stump and it did not work. Drill could not grip bit�well, and bit kept coming out.

Drill bit broke when going into dry wall
I bought this drill set yesterday and I can already say that it was a huge disappointment. I’m in the process of mounting a TV which required that I drill into dry wall until I reached the stud. I drilled 2/3 holes I needed successfully until it broke in half while I was drilling the third hole. Since it’s deep into the hole there is no way to retrieve and as a result I have to drill three new holes into my wall!! This is disappointing because I’m a fan of Ryobi tools (was using a Ryobi drill)

Definitely Do Not Buy
I purchased this item in November, just as they were setting up their Christmas displays. I brought them as a gift for myself. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the need to use it until 1/15/23. I was attempting to widen a hole on a metal bracket, when the bit stopped spinning. That’s when i noticed the bit had separated from the metal shank. I tried the next larger size and the same thing happened. If you look closely at the attached photo, you’ll notice that some of the bits doesn’t go completely into the shank.

Black Oxide Drill Bits are the BEST!
As I loose and misplace standard drill bits I'm replacing with black oxide with hex shanks. Black oxide drill bits are harder than standard and in my opinion hold up to long term use much better. They're effective drilling wood, metal and plastic. I don't have to change drill bits because I want to use on metal. These black oxide drill bits are also suited for both my regular Ryobi cordless drill and impact drivers. The kit contains a good baseline variety of drill bits. And the hex shank makes easy work of pilot holes and screws quickly swapping bits - no more double drills for this simple task. I especially like the case that comes with this 25-piece drill bit set - It's compact at 7"Hx 4"Wx 2.5"D - fits in any tool bag protecting the drill bits and keeping things organized. I plan to pick up either the 44 piece or 15 piece black oxide hex shank screw bit kits. This would make a great gift for Dad or Mom.

Bits hold up to all kinds of drilling.
The RYOBI Black Oxide Hex Shank Drill Bit Set (25-Piece) is a great set of drill bits. I like the hex shank of drill bits. It is easy to take in and out of drill holders or drills. The bits are sharp and can go into wood, metal and plastic. I used them for all of these and they were very sturdy and held up to all the work. I would recommend their use to anyone. use to

Great Kit
Been looking to get a new drill bit kit for awhile because my holder broke so all my bits are mixed together and hard to find. This new RYOBI Black Oxide Hex Shank Drill Bit Set with 25 pieces is a great kit to have around. Has all standard sizes and the case and holder are made of quality materials. Love the hex shank for quick install and removal. I’ve always hated the old style bits because the drill head always comes loose and doesn’t grip the bit or bit falls out. These quick change bits make every job easier. Definitely recommend.

Been waiting for someone to come out with these
Ryobi finally did it. It's nice to take your one tool (impact driver to the job and be able tp drill the hole and put the screw in with one tool. Pop the drill bit out and put the driver head in. Job done in a short while.The power groove design is fabulous. I got some extensions for sockets and the little socket head screws a while back. They made the socket head screws so much easier to put in. I am elated that these have finally come on the market. Makes my work much easier and faster to get done.

Drill Bit Set
We got this new Ryobi drill bit set to replace mu old drill bit set that is many years old. The bits are a nice quality set for your average home owner. The hex shank design is better and more versatile than the smooth shank drill bits. I like it that I can use these bits in my impact driver. The plastic case is durable and keeps all the bits organized. Glad we got the new set it's a good pick.

First of all, I HIGHLY recommend these........
This set has all the sizes you’ll primarily use all the way up to ½ inch bit. Sizes are clearly marked on the shanks, except for the 3 largest ones starting with the 5/16” they are marked on the drill. I have had good experiences with the Black Oxide (other brand) so I passed up others to get these. Ryobi was smart to include multiple bits of the smaller bits that are the ones that break most often. The bits are a little difficult to remove (new) from the case but that’s better than them falling out. These bits are centered/aligned in the shank. So far, they work well, no wobble, smooth and clean fast cutting. For the price this is one heck of a set. Having the hex shanks makes it easy to change bit sizes but my issue with shanked drill bits has been they tend to disconnect between the hex part and the bit itself while drilling. Not a devastating deal if they do, they are usually still usable.

Some bits misaligned in the shank makes them unusable
I read complaints of bits breaking. I didn't even get that far since the first bit I pulled out of the case was unusable. See photo: the problem is that the bit is pressed, soldered or glued into the shank. Well, if this is not done 100% true, the bit will orbit even if the shank is spinning true. One of my 1/8" bits has this issue and at the tip it orbits and wobbles with an offset of about 1/8". This makes it completely unusable. The bit isn't bent, it is the way it is inserted into the shank at manufacturing. In the photo you can even see that the bit does not align in the same plane as the hex shank.
I tried a few others and although most spun true, a few others had this trouble, although not to the extreme of the first one I tried.
It is really too bad because I loved this idea. I use my impact driver all the time and would love to swap in a bit from time to time. On one of my good bits, I tried it and it works well.
Great idea, poor execution.

Great set for the DIY
RYOBI Black Oxide Hex Shank Drill Bit Set (25-Piece)
Pros: Hexagonal shank, carrying case, wide range of diameter drill bits, wide range of materials
Cons: None
This drill set is perfect for the casual home maintainer. The hexagonal shank means the bits can be used with either quick-release or standard chucks. What I like about the hexagonal shank is that it will not slip in the chuck when under load as some of the round shanks do. For those who have a quick release drill, these bits are fast and easy to change. The bits are designed to drill a wide range of materials.
