Improvement over previous version in some ways
I had the previous model of this sprayer which gave out two months after the 3 year warranty. I use the sprayer to maintain my own yard but use it every couple of weeks per my liquid fert program from the lawn care nut. Cons: The new sprayer has a longer tank the the previous model and lacks the frame found on the previous model. This impacts where to grab the sprayer to empty and clean out. Plus the frame had a backpack feel compared to the current model simply having the tank rest on your back. Some good points…. The new liquid pickup system is better integrated than the previous model with a U shaped tube. The new model has an adjustment dial that is an improvement over the previous model, but not necessary for my usage. Overall pickup of liquid seems better with the upgraded pickup system which is nice and also results in less low output sprays.

            I liked it but returning!!
I bought it about a month ago based on my needs and my budget I choose this. I have about 10,000 ft.² lawn I checked gallon per minute for the Red tip that came along with and it measured 2 m 40 sec it’s fine spray nice n uniform at max pressure mostly for foliar application. I went ahead and bought some TeeJet tips - white flood jet measured 1 min 45 sec per gallon per minute and green tip measured 1 min 30 all at max pressure. With 3rd use crack on the hose that connects the tank n handle.

              Poor quality
I bought my backpack about a month ago and the hose is already broke where it bends the most close to the connection. The plastic piece on the strap that adjusts also broke. The motor seems to be fine but for spending so much money I definitely think it should hold up better. I will never buy this brand again. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

                Leaking on handle
I bought one of these about 2 weeks ago and have been meaning to write this review but ever since the first day I opened it, it leaks at the handle, and spilled all over the straps. I was really hoping it would workout, but I guess I'll have to return it.

Very Good Sprayer that gets the job Done
This updated Ryobi sprayer worked very well with one EXCEPTION. The control dial will vibrate to the OFF position when the control dial is set at a minimum spray setting. On my first use of the sprayer, I had to keep my hand on the dial to prevent the sprayer from shutting off when spraying weeds using a minimum setting. This is not a problem when the dial is set to medium or high. See my simple fix for this problem I listed below with pictures. Ryobi needs to FIX this problem which would make this an Excellent sprayer. I had no problem with leaks or any other problem. I found the fill marks on the tank to be close to the correct gallon marks when the top of the square mark is used as a reference. I used 2 tank full (8 gallons, which is not heavy once you get the sprayer strapped on) of liquid to spray a very large gravel driveway which took very little time compared to using a 2 gallon pump up sprayer and did not drain the included battery much as when I put the battery in the included charger, it fully recharged within 15 minutes. Note the drain hole is recessed and is on the opposite side from the hose. I had no problem using all the liquid as long as I kept the sprayer level or slightly leaning to the left. If you let the tank lean to the right which happens as you are spraying and pulling on the hose which offsets the tank, there will be several ounces of liquid left in the tank. The instructions said the sprayer came with replacement seals. There were no seals included in the box and I contacted Ryobi and they had a set of replacement seals mailed to me. Note the seals are for the wand and spray nozzles, the pump is not user serviceable. The fix I did to keep the control dial from moving was simple. I punched out a thin rubber gasket with an O.D. of 1.5 inches / I.D. of .5 inches and put over the control dial shaft so the gasket was between the control dial and the tank (see pictures of dial and gasket). This provides just enough friction to keep the dial from turning but the control dial was still very easy to turn and does not interfere with the operation of the sprayer. From looking at how the sprayer control and the switch that controls the pump speed is built, not sure of another easy way to fix that problem other than modifying the actual control switch. Regardless, Ryobi needs to FIX this problem to resolve the issue with the pump turning off.

One of the best chemical sprayer for homes
I bought this chemical sprayer few months back for my front and backyard. I first thought the battery (2AH included) won't last long but I was wrong. It lasted over 30 gal before I had to recharge the battery. The plastic body was durable which I believe it will protect from at least 10 drops on a concrete floor. Their were few downsides (but not significant to change my mind).... 1. Not so easy sprayer cap on the top. 2. Flimsy plastic sprayer rod. - If ryobi switch the rod to stainless steel or some other durable material than cheap plastic it will be great. 3. Not so translucent Plastic Water tank. - make it more clear so the user don't have to tilt or shake the tank to know the amount of water remaining in the tank. If the water tank was also detachable (the wash it) it will be a huge plus too.

                      Inaccurate molded measurements
The sprayer itself is great, especially for the price, but it could have been 5 stars across the board if someone had taken just a little more time in the design stage. The issue, and it could be a big one for anyone needing even remotely accurate measurements for water volume who hasnt checked, is that none of the markings on the sides of the tank are correct except a couple. The only one on mine that is accurate is the 3 gallon mark (and likely a similar Liter marking on the opposite side, though I didnt check those because I dont measure in Liters). Fill right to the top of the molded rectangular section around the 3, and thats 3 gallons on the dot. To get one gallon, its between the top of the 1 gallon mark and the next hash. The two gallon level is slightly above the 2 gallon molding (about 1/3 of the way between the molding and the hash), and the 4 gallon hits right at the top of the molded 4, below the molded rectangular section. Other than that, its great. Id think that a company putting out a sprayer would have at least checked this out before sending a product to production, but apparently not, because both of my sprayers are exactly the same. For the cost savings over the other sprayers, I guess its worth it to have to measure it all out and mark it correctly once, vs paying considerably more for a correctly marked sprayer.

If you want to take care of your lawn and need to apply chemicals to a large area, this is the right tool for that job. My front yard was infected by nutsedge and it looks like they are really hard to get rid of. I have used nutsedge killer spray bottle to spot treat them, but they will just come back next year. I think it was because the treatment was not even. When the next summer comes, I’d like to add SedgeHammer, mixed with water, and used this backpack sprayer to kill nutsedge more evenly. The backpack is a little bit heavy, but the belt looks very comfy to put on (it has a think padding). I like the overall design. BTW, you get a charger and a 2A battery which is nice.

In the past, I used the one or two gallon sprayers that you commonly find in box stores. Hauling them around in both my front and back yards- even with straps - got to be a little too heavy for me now that I am getting up there in years. This backpack works well for me because I can strap it on and the weight is shifted to my back instead of my arms. Even though I will probably never carry more than one gallon of liquid, it is so much easier and comfortable. Spraying both my front and back yards is now easier and faster without the weight hindrance. Other things to like about it are (1) the padded straps, which don't cut into my shoulders, (2) the handy clips to store the spray wand, (3) the included battery and charger that can be used with other Ryobi products, (4) the strainer on the top to keep out stray objects, and (5) the different nozzles that can be used for different spray patterns. This sprayer should last for a long time. It is durable and well-built. Best of all, the sprayer can be easily cleaned to eliminate any clogs. Definitely would recommend.
