ONE+ 18-Volt Cordless String Trimmer/Edger and Blower with Extra 3-Pack of Spools Combo Kit (2-Tool)

I received this combo as a housewarming gift three months ago. Initially, both tools worked well. The blower wasn't as powerful as I had hoped but it still does a decent job. My complaint is with the trimmer/edger. It worked perfectly for the first three months, however, due to what I would consider to be a design flaw, the motor housing broke under normal operating conditions. The motor housing mounts to the guard with three screws on three points that stick out from the housing. These points aren't very well reinforced and two of them just cracked while I was trimming. I did not abuse this tool in anyway. It was never dropped, I didn't bang it into anything, I simply used it how it was designed to be used and it failed after three months of yard work (approximately 12 sessions of use). The most disappointing part, however, was that I was told that because this was an "exterior break" and not related to the function or the motor, that it was not covered under the three year warranty. This was very upsetting to find out. So, even though both of these tools worked well for me initially, I can not recommend the trimmer/edger to anyone.

This combo deal is amazing! My yard has never looked better! The 4amp battery is very powerful and takes care of my yard easily with 1 charge. (Using both weed whip and blower!) I highly recommend!

Bought this kit on a sale and it has performed very well thus far. The blower is dead simple and very useful for small jobs. The line trimmer is great too except for the autofeed "feature". I really don't need another .25" of line every time it stops spinning so I opened up the spindle, removed a tiny spring that autofeeds and drilled a tiny hole on the hub to insert a paperclip. The paperclip stays with the unit on a magnet and I poke it through the hole every time I need more line. Bump feed would have been nicer but this will do.

Beware! This picture makes it look like this package comes with the advanced, dual chemistry charger in the pic - It does not come with it in the box - Seems like a bit of false advertisement here, Mr. Ryobi... The charger you get is the P118B which is a simple charger. With that being said... I bought this deal last week at the start of Ryobi Days. Overall, it is a great value as long as you use it as intended. Lets face it, this set is not meant for commercial grade usage. I actually went to the store to look at a blower to clear out the garage, clean up after mowing, and maybe...clean up after some hedge trimming (without having so much power it moved mulch). My original intent was to get something cheap and small enough for my wife to use. When I got to the store, the little "Tim the 'Tool Man' Tailor" on my shoulder immediately pointed me to the biggest tools on the shelf. This caused me to inadvertently tilt my head back and start the "Roh Oh Oh oh oh!" as I grabbed the biggest blower on the shelf. To my surprise, the 40V was heavy. The Ryobi Rep must have heard me and came over to assist. This immediately caused me to wonder if I should be defensive and respond in a much deeper tone to let him know "Ugh! Tool not heavy - Me use all tool!" However, I accepted his presence and noticed one of the bundles with a blower and a trimmer in the $119 range. He did what any good salesman should do and upsold me...We walked over and he showed me this bundle for $149 and I hit the "why not" button. I have been quite impressed. We have a small yard that is around 0.20 acres with a fenced in backyard and my wife is not a fan of the gas trimmer. I figured why not kill two birds with one stone and return home the knight in shining armor that ventured out and returned with tools that would allow her to conquer the yard when she so desired. Like a kid with a new toy (as every man should be when he returns from Home Depot), I tore into the box with excitement. As i put things together, I don't know that I was blown away by quality since it is a lot of plastic which concerns me with yard tools. Though, this test can only be accomplished with sufficient time and use. The simplicity is where you get your moneys worth. It is about a five minute set up - tops. This blower snaps together in seconds and the trimmer takes about two minutes to click together. I couldn't tell you if there were instructions as my dad taught me...and every great man before him...that men don't use instructions (unless they buy from Ikea). Blower power is reasonable and the compact size and weight make this an amazing little package. We finished the yard on a single battery charge. Being able to edge the driveway and then clean the it all the way to the road without fighting with cords was amazing. Definitely a "Worth every bit of $149" moment! The trimmer string is super short and takes some getting used to, but sooooo simple to change out. If you buy the replacement spools it takes maybe 30 seconds and if you opt to rewind it only takes a few mins and then snaps right back in. I have been impressed by the whole package and I am absolutely be buying more One+ stuff! Now, I feel like I can customize things...and in this great green color. Super happy. Highly recommend. It is a good idea in theory and is quiet but lacks power and longevity. It only lasts an hour brand new. The string is constantly extending automatically and runs out after just one use shortly after the battery runs out. It seams to extend every time you stop and restart which for me is often. The batterm gives no signs of running low it just stops and time to recharge. I could have adjusted the way I cut the grass and edge then blow by alternating each but if you allow the weeds or grass to get too tall forget it. I will be returning it after a week. Needs an additional battery included (an extra $100 + tax). Maybe if it were included for $199 it might be worth it for light use.

Very impressed and a nice upgrade from my prior one from a failing store that did the job for about 5 years but the battery was not keeping up. The 1st time using it I got everything done on one battery. The edging was very nice. The blower was as powerful as a gas blower. It plays nice with my other Ryobi tools too.

Very easy to assemble and already used all 3....love them! Blowing grass and seeds as we speak.

Bought this combo deal yesterday and used it today. I could not be happier with the string trimmer. With the larger capacity, fully charged battery, I was able to edge and trim my 275x75 foot lot. That includes a 200x75 fence line, shed/patio, and 32x16 deck. I was shocked that I was able to get all of that done. I pulled the battery with one led remaining on the "fuel gauge". And the grass along the fence was high, it had not been whacked since November of last year. Also the wheel made edging very easy and consistent. As for the leaf blower, I am not as enthusiastic. Although, full-disclosure, as I mentioned, I pulled the larger capacity (included in this combo) and placed it in charger and I was now using my previously purchased smaller capacity lithium+18v battery. With this fully charged battery I was able to clear my 45 foot driveway, my 75 foot sidewalk (2x) and my fire pit patio. As I headed to my garage to begin to clear it it began a noticble decline in output. At that point I figured I got WAY more done than I had ever anticipated. I was on the fence about going electric but with the 90 day guarantee and the fact that I had a couple lithium batteries at home - this was an easy decision.
