Just stopped working.
While I was using my drill to tighten down a screw it just stopped dead. I've tried other batteries and I've tried everything and it's just dead. I took it back to my local home depot and I just said sorry about your luck. It's hardly ever been used.

Great hammer drill... when it isn't broken
I have had two of these drills. First one lasted a week or so... and upon drilling through some brick, the drill started smoking and stopped working. I took it to my local Home Depot to warranty. Instead of replacing my drill for a new one, they opted to repair it. After a week, they returned the repaired drill to me. After a few weeks of intermittent drilling, it suddenly stopped working while I was drilling through pressure treated wood. Nothing too strenuous.. just wood. So, while I do like this drill for it's price and features, I cannot recommend it. Simply unreliable.

I have been very pleased with my Ryobi products. However this item bought at thanksgiving opened at Christmas and used a few times. Today for some reason reverse stoped working. I will work to return or exchange but plan to get another hoping this is just a one off. When it died I pulled out my old blue Ryobi to keep working.

It really was much better than the standard drill for drilling into concrete block. It still was a bit tough since the concrete is 70 years old but it did the job. All the tapcons are embedded now before next hurricane season. The side handle comes off for tight sideways drilling. This drill is plenty powerful. It has a small LED light in the front which could be handy for some tasks.

Really good drill. Nice addition to the 19 volt tool line. I really like the all metal chuck with a locking mechanism to aid in tightening the chuck. Good feature to make drill bits securely tightened. Works really well.

I will admit I have gone out of my way to abuse this thing and it will not die. Partly because I expected it after my regular drill/driver burned out with routine use and partly because it has handled so much already. I've used it to core drill 2.5" holes in concrete block/brick, hole saw and spade bit into wood in sizes larger than I believe it could handle, and mistakenly dropped it from my roof onto the concrete floor. Most recently I used it in some marathon sessions of drilling more reasonable holes through joists to route PEX in a hot water recirculation system, with an occasional pairing with the ryobi right angle attachment. Suffice it to say this has exceeded my expectations.

            I just got it
Mine came ups this morning. Its heavier than I thought. Seems to be made pretty well. I do like the fact of the magnetic area at the grip. I didn't receive the bolt that holds the handle on.

Used it to build deck so far so good more than enough power for project. Bought specifically since I needed a hammer drill. Quality seems solid and can't wait to test it drilling into concrete.

The deck project we just completed was HUGE ! We did it all with Ryobi cordless tools. We needed the extra driver to keep up with the pace at which the work was getting done. This driver was thrown into the project and worked flawlessly ! We went through 7,400 screws for 8 tenths of a mile of linear deck board feet. Again, ALL Ryobi 18v cordless tools. Circular saw, reciprocating saw, impact driver, and now this added P214 drill/driver. What a workout for these tools ! Everything went great, and the project is done and amazing !

only used it on two projects so far with a 3ah battery. seems to be powerful and doesn't drain battery too fast. like the fact it has 3 modes and adjustable torque. the keyless chuck is a little different that I've used before, but it seems to hold the bits ok so far.

              A beefier drill
This particular product includes the drill ONLY. There is no charger, no battery, and no case. It is packaged by itself in a cardboard box. If you've already invested in the Ryobi ONE+ 18V line up then you can get this tool without paying for extra batteries and a charger. The drill is equipped with two speed settings. The low setting will give you more torque which is perfect for driving lag bolts and long screws into hard wood. Switch to the high speed setting and you can make quick work of fine threaded screws, or long screws going into softer materials. The drill chuck will spin faster or slower depending on how far you squeeze the trigger. Pretty standard behavior for any power drill. This model looks very similar to the Ryobi ONE+ compact drill kit, but it is a little longer and heavier overall and includes a plastic grip handle that can be installed on the left or right side, but not on the top of the drill. In addition to the 2 speed settings Ryobi also gives you 24 torque settings. I don't think you can ask for much more granularity than that. A magnetic tray is built in to the drill just below the trigger which is pretty handy for storing small screws or philips bits if you are swapping between bits. The drill is equipped with an LED light to assist you in low light conditions. I always thought the flash light feature was kind of gimmicky until I owned one that was equipped with it. Some brands are a lot brighter than what Ryobi has chosen to go with it but it should be more than adequate to see what you're doing. The bottom rear of the drill has an eyelet to attach a lanyard but one is not provided with it. You'll have to procure your own. Overall, this is a nicely built drill with a good amount of torque. Plug in one of Ryobi's 4AH batteries and it should give a really long run time. If you're looking for something with a bit more oompf than Ryobi's compact 18V driver this is worth checking out, since it's basically the same drill with a bigger motor and a grip handle added to it.

Ryobi really nails it with this drill!
This Hammer Drill is quite a bit beefier than my other Ryobi drills. It has an all metal chuck which is nice, and it has a light on the front, which none of my other Ryobi drills have. It can take a full 1/2" drill bit, so I can use anything I want with it. It has plenty of torque to get the job done. The addition of a handle is nice, since the drill has enough power to rip itself out of your hands. I am not a big fan of the handle consisting of three pieces though.. The drill has all the features you would expect in a Hammer drill, but I don't know why they made the markings on the drill so difficult to read. Contrasting colors would have been nice. I really like this drill. I have an M18 fuel, and I couldn't really notice any difference in power between the two. I was also surprised when using 4ah batteries in each, the Ryobi had more bars showing after a morning of drilling, and I had used the Ryobi quite a bit more.

Nice Drill Can Use old batteries as well as new!!
This is a great all purpose drill with enough power to do any job around the house. I really like the switch at the top that goes from driver, to hammer, and drilling. I also love that fact that my old Ryobi +one batteries can be used with this drill. Ergonomically the drill fits in the hand nicely it is compact but big enough to feel powerful. I expected nothing less from Ryobi. I really like this drill.

              Another Quality Ryobi Power Tool
I am always happy to get another Ryobi cordless power tool. This one is a hammer drill-driver-drill combo. It has easy to change settings for the different uses. There is low and high speed, a switch for each of the three modes and the torque adjustment. The hammer drill worked very well drilling holes in the garage wall for mounting hooks for chairs to get them off the floor. Only took a few seconds to drill the holes, then screwed in the hooks and hung the chairs. Another job was to mount a fishing rod holder and I used the driver with included bit to screw in the screws. Changing of the settings from the hammer drill to driver took seconds and was so easy. This tool comes with a handle. It does not include a battery or charger. I already have several.
