Great power for the money. Received with a "buy a set, get a free tool"= chose this as the free tool. I actually cut through a incorrectly installed locked door knob with this no trouble!

Ryobi one 18 Volt brushless brushless 4 1/2 grinder easy to assemble. The support arm can be installed for left or right handed use. The grinder is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The battery took a few hours to charge and you get plenty of use from the grinder on a single charge but I recommend getting an additional battery. The guard on it is fully adjustable. Another great product from Ryobi.

I acquired the RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ HP Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder for occasional work. I am a DIYer and not a professional using it daily, but it works great and the brushless motor provides more than enough power for everything that I need. I read of two complaints about this grinder, but I found that both complaints were without merit. First, the grip/handle was reported to be too big. I am a large guy with big hands; I found the grip/handle to be perfect—I was able to use it for wire brushing for quite a while without my hands getting tired. Second, I read that the grinder consumed lots of battery power and would not run on the 1.5AH and 2.0AH batteries. I tested the grinder with a 18V ONE+™ 2.0AH Compact Lithium battery and it worked great. I used the smaller battery to make numerous cuts on ½” rebar without problems or lack of speed or power.
I was not sure what to expect from this grinder but I have been extremely pleased and surprised.
I would definitely recommend the RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ HP Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder.

RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V BRUSHLESS CORDLESS 4-1/2 IN. ANGLE GRINDER . I am very impressed with this grinder. It is very heavy duty. I have several Ryobi products and have been very happy with them. They last a long time and preform very well. The grinder comes with a side handle, two wheels, a grinding wheel and a cutoff wheel. Easy to read instructions. Two wheel guards one for grinding and one for cutting and a wrench for changing wheels. I am very happy with it.

Very happy with the Ryobi 18v Cordless Angle Grinder as our first impression. it makes a nice addition to our Ryobi tool collection. The grinder has only one speed, but perhaps that's standard with other brands, too.
Three good features:
. Safety Lock
. Interchangeable batteries with other Ryobi 18v tools -- builds brand loyalty, too!
. The grinder starts smoothly and slowly when pressing the trigger switch -- almost like a delayed start. This smooth start is good to avoid start up torque (kick) in your hand.
Awaiting springtime to put this grinder to work on redesigning the grape arbor.

This tool is fantastic, but still not quite at the pro level. It is absolutely one of the finest RYOBI tools that I have ever seen. The problem is that I found that this tool cuts out more easily than other brands (as if it becomes overloaded easily), it also overheats and cuts out, etc.
A pro can’t have that happen.
Additionally, I found it odd that there is a significant performance improvement with a larger amp-hour battery. The 2Ahr battery cuts out too easily. I’d recommend you use a 6Ahr, or larger. Also, if you are going to buy non-genuine batteries, be mindful that this has a two prong design. Matching up correctly will affect performance!
For what it is worth:
If you have a job with hours of continuous cutting, I wouldn’t use any battery-powered angle grinder on the market. That’s where a corded angle grinder still shines.
With all that said, brushless motors immediately make this tool high end. These motors mean less maintenance, less heating up (despite what I said), and higher efficiency.
The Lithium Ion batteries are high end, because they can withstand hundreds of charging cycles, they have high charge densities (lighter weight), and are more stable.
The built-in electronics also help the tool perform and keep it protected.
I love that this unit has 3 positions for the auxiliary handle. I like the rubberized grip too.
The paddle switch is great for activation, while wearing beefy gloves.
The tool-free wheel change out is absolutely a luxury. With that said, it also comes with a pin wrench, if your wheel gets stuck.
The die cast body is an indication that this is built to last.
The ergonomic shape is far superior to most DIY angle grinders.
At 9,200 rpm, this actually exceeds the equivalent DEWALT tool, but I’m not sure the DEWALT would cut out.
I used this angle grinder to cut some structural steel. It absolutely gets the job done. But, I’m not sure that this belongs in the field, under the harshest of applications.

Ryobi 18 Volt ONE+HP Lithium=Ion Brushless 4 1/2 in. Angle Grinder.
When I ordered the Ryobi 4 1/2 in. 18 Volt Lithium-Ion angle grinder I knew it would fit great with the rest of the Ryobi tools I have, they are all 18 volt Lithium-Ion ONE+HP 2Ah or 4 Ah. This is why I ordered tool only as I already have batteries and chargers and Ryobi shows they have over 175 tools that take the 18 volt Lithium-Ion batteries either 2Ah or 4Ah, the 4Ah is twice the run time. The Ryobi 4 1/2in angle grinder is well balanced with the shape of the handle and the paddle switch for ease of starting or stopping, the safety switch is also easy to use. I installed the grinding wheel first, liked the ease of use and quality of grinding. I have two other corded 4 1/2in. grinders; I will change the Ryobi to a flap disc and the other two to a grinding wheel and a cut off wheel. I am very happy with all the Ryobi 18 volt ONE+HP Lithium-Ion tools I have.

If you want to make a tough job easier, look no further than this brushless angle grinder/cut off tool. I had to cut several nails and this tool made it so easy. I then changed to the grinding blade and used it to sharpen my mower blade as I do not own a bench grinder. I did initially have an issue of understanding how to put the guard on but I called customer support and the agent was able to walk me through step by step to make sure I was not only inserting the guard properly but also using the tool correctly. It really is an amazing tool that I have added to my Ryobi collection.

The RYOBI 18-Volt ONE+ HP Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder is part of the Ryobi ONE+ System which uses an interchangeable 18-Volt Lithium-Ion battery. The grinder is brushless, and cordless which allows me to use it anywhere at anytime. The angle grinder fits a 4-1/2 in. wheel. The grinder comes with a Ryobi 3-Year Manufacturer's Warranty, This was a must to have for my tool collection and I have already found multiple uses for it. The best is grinding down nails which have snapped or bolts which are to rusty to remove with a wrench.

The Ryobi One+ Angle Grinder is the most comfortable angle grinder I have. The trigger mechanism on it has a safety switch that easily disengages while preventing accidental startup and does not require the constant thumb pressure of my other angle grinders. This use of the fingers in a natural clasping motion prevents the fatigue that the constant thumb pressure of other grinders cause. The unit is beefy, coming in at 6.2 lbs. fully assembled with battery (not included). When you pick it up though it feels good in the hand and the heft gives the feeling of control, necessary for the wood carving that I use it for and doesn’t torque on startup as some of my other angle grinders. The shaft on the Ryobi is 5/8” so the bushing fits the 7/8” shoulder on most cutting wheels, including my favorite shaping disk. The handle easily screws in on the right, left, or top sides of the grinder. The guard rotates easily with a thumb spring and locks in place without disassembling the wheel. And of course, a major advantage in comparing to the other is not having to deal with the extension cords. The Ryobi unit comes with a Type 1 guard for cutoff work and a Type 27 guard for grinding as well as both a cutoff wheel and grinding wheel.
