The Cordless Orbital Jig Saw provides cutting performance equivalent to a corded jig saw with the portable convenience of battery power. The SPEEDMATCH selector improves cut quality by allowing you to match the speed and orbital settings. A variable-speed dial lets you select between 1100 and 3000 strokes per minute and RYOBIs innovative BladeSaver feature allows access to unused teeth with the adjustable base, extending the blade life. The 1/4 Sheet Sander is great if used for a variety of finishing applications and its cordless convenience makes it easy to move from jobsite to jobsite or for DIY jobs anywhere. It features a 1/4 sheet design that works with a majority of sandpapers and a lock on switch. Its dust collection bag will keep your work surfaces clean, and its vacuum adaptor port will make clean up quick and easy (adaptor not included). With 12,000 RPMs and over 40 minutes of runtime, you will always have enough power. Worked Great for an hour or two
Brand new, first day sanding, did great for an hour or two. Now the dust collection bag will not stay on. I've cleaned the port and the tiny holes best anyone could get on there, but it won't stay on. Probably will return this afternoon and purchase a different one.

    doesnt hold up
I bought this because i dont use corded tools other than a belt sander and a tale saw and i saw this and it was the first and only cordless belt sander id seen and as a remodeling contractor we use them to knock down sheens and shave off exisiting textures to mud over them but after less than 200 square feet of wall and light use just putting the sander on the wall and letting it do the work no leaning into it nothing i went to put in a fresh battery and it didnt respond so i tried again and it sputtered a bit but then nothing. After 20 minutes of use its dead. I know ryobi tools are diyer grade junk but this is pathetic. Avoid it at all costs

      Issues
The width is 3.25 inches but a 2x4 or 1x4 is 3.5 inches. It hasnt been as usable as I expected even after watching some videos on youtube. Unfortunately mine seems to be dying now just 15 days outside the 3 year warranty and probably only 3 uses. Now even with a fresh battery when I pull the trigger it'll spin for a split second and shut off and I have to do this 3 to 6 times to get it going. The shred collector is also useless because the thing gets clogged about 5 seconds into each run. I have a ton of ryobi one+ but this thing seems to be the most finicky.

I needed to plane some wooden screen doors for a screen house we built back in the woods. We didn't use a generator. Everything was done with Ryobi 18v power tools and an assortment of batteries. Some of these tools are original Ryobi 18v tools and still work great after hard use and many years. The planner was a nice addition and made quick work of the doors. A great addition to my Ryobi collection.

I bought this sander a month ago for smoothing plaster prior to painting. It worked fine for nail hole patches, but for larger areas - the sandpaper slips off the base within 30 seconds - consistently! I tried different densities & brands of sandpaper, but the slippage continues. In addition, the bag that holds the dust is too small ands needs to emptied frequently. I've learned that not all sanders are created equal - even though the price was right - it may be too small or the job. I am going to see if I can trade this one up because I like the Ryobi product and the convenience of the interchangeable battery.

        Good product
I'd have to say for a beginner this a good tool to have. It does what it needs to do. Its easy to handle and not as heavy. Only thing I'd say thag is a con is that it drains the battery very quick. You need to keep spares handy. Other than that I am satisfied with my product.

          Dust port hack
I own most of the Ryobi one+ tools. They all work great and being cordless makes them even greater. Having said that the recent purchase of the one+ sander (3in x 18in) left me scratching my head. I never use the supplied dusk bags that come with the tools and prefer using my vac. The way that they have positioned the duct port does not leave room to attach a hose. And being a left-hander using the bag gets in the way of sanding. The fix was easy enough, but I wish Ryobi would the design to make it adaptable for a vac hose. To fix it I purchased a 1in 45-degree elbow. Of course, that was too small for the dust port and too large for the vac hose. Out comes the heat gun. Heated up the elbow enough to slip in on the dust port and waited for it to cool. Then heated up the other end and compressed it to fit the vac hose. Now I can hook up the vac and it keeps it out of the way of my “left” hand trigger use. So there it is, my fix to what I consider a design flaw, and I recommend it for anyone who want to attach a vac hose.

            Broke on first use
The tracking adjustment screw stripped out on first use. Unfortunately I bought this a year ago with cash. Without a receipt HD customer service tells me I am out of luck.

An impressive tool when portability trumps precision. Through the eye of a certified hand therapist the ergonomics are fair; the depth adjustment knob would be better in a large diameter. I have found this most useful to clean up fence pickets on site during construction as well as thinning dimensional lumber by small increments in order to place them in an even plane with adjacent boards. This needed to be done in place when attaching steel tie plates to strengthen structural connections between two pieces of wood. This tool worked great for this purpose, I was glad to be without a power cord to contend with. It's nice to be able to remove the edge guard to plane on a flat surface. Try to make space for one long continuous run on the workpiece when operating as you will likely end up with uneven snipe otherwise. Blade changes are a simple affair and each one is reversible. I have found that the blades last a significant period of time with softwoods, just be careful of any stray staples as they will easily nick the blade. The kickstand is nice but it would be better if it automatically withdrew when turning the tool on or at least had a switch as it can be inconvenient to get an exact starting place in the middle of a piece since you need to slide the tool a bit to disengage the kickstand. Hooking up a shopvac is a necessity for any sizeable planing, otherwise I would just leave the bag off as it will quickly get overfilled. Take measures to avoid breathing the dust in a confined area. This will chew through batteries in a hurry, I advise going for a larger capacity.

                A little cumbersome
I ordered one for my home remodel and some crafts. It is a bit cumbersome. But the ability to get rid of the drop cord outweighs that. I would definitely recommend it for the diyer and craft enthusiasts.
