A:Â There is no hose tube attachment. However, the upper part of the vacuum, can be separated from the long tube and the beater bar, and used as a hand-vac. It has two attachments, a long slot tube for reaching into a narrow region or crevice and a brush attachment for upholstery, drapes or other such items. It also has a mounting rack that can be attached to a wall for storing the vacuum and recharging the battery.

We were sent a used unit!
This is our second vacuum from Ryobi. They are wonderful machines! However, Home Depot sent us an open box unit at full price. It has saw dust in the collector and on the hepa filter. Home Depot should have never ship that one to us. We deserved a new unit.

Rotating brush
The vacuum does what it's supposed to do. Why I gave it 3 stars is because it is hard to clean the rotating brush at the end. You can't take it off of the vacuum like any other stick vacuum which makes it very difficult to clean. Almost makes me not want to use it. Another thing is that the suction hole where the filter is at is too small and it loses suction power quickly due to it getting clogged up. Would I buy it again...absolutely not! Mainly because of the difficulty of cleaning the rotating brush.

Ryobi Stick Vacuums
I recently made the purchase. I really like it. It’s light and very handy. It has good suction. The only con is that the hair gets trapped with the roller and you literally have to cut off manually. It’s a drag. Other than that, I like the product.

I'm warning you, this is going to get lengthy. I have both the Ryobi and a Dyson.
To start off, the Ryobi head unit weighs minimally less than a Dyson V8 Animal until you add a battery. 3lbs 3.3oz compared to the Dyson at 3lbs 7oz. With a 4ah battery the unit weighs in at 4lbs 12.7oz. So that's 1lb 5.7oz heavier. Still it's pretty light. I'm sure with a 2ah battery it would be less than 1lb difference.
With that 4ah battery, it will run longer than the Dyson. If you are using the smaller 2ah, it's probably about the same, but I don't know for sure. The Ryobi advantage is if you have extra batteries, you can change the battery and keep going. With the Dyson, you have to find a wall outlet and plug it in and wait. We haven't found a place that we want to hang either one yet since you need a power outlet, so we charge the Dyson where ever we happen to plug it in. The Ryobi really doesn't need to be next to a power outlet if you already have a One+ charger and batteries.
The Ryobi is not terribly loud. To be honest, I don't know if it is louder than the Dyson. The pitch of the motor is lower, so it is harder to tell
The suction is about the same when you start, but the Ryobi will lose more than the Dyson does as the pre filter clogs. The Dyson will lose suction when it is full, just not as bad.
I'm not a fan of bagless vacuums and both can be messy when emptying, but being able to detach the dirt container from the Ryobi, is to me, more convenient that having to hold the Dyson vacuum over a trash bin. When you open either one the dust will fly somewhat. The Ryobi container can be held down in the bin to mitigate the dust a little more. The Dyson, to me, is a little messier.
Both will need more cleaning than just opening the trap door and letting the dust fall out, every so often. The Ryobi filters can be pulled out and tapped on the inside of the dust bin or taken out and blown out with compressed air. With the Dyson you're messing with the complete head unit.
The overall construction of the Ryobi is more solid than the Dyson. The Dyson wobbles quite a bit at the joints and the head unit feels flimsy. The plastic in the Dyson is appears to be plain ABS. It looks and feels cheap compared to Ryobi's plastic. Ryobi appears to be
glass reinforced PA6 or PA66. When you cut it, you can hear the glass fibers breaking. This is similar to what is used in most power tools and is more durable/stronger, and more expensive.
The Dyson's power head is ever so slightly wider and the brush motor appears to have a little more power than the Ryobi. More often than the Dyson the Ryobi head will suck up a throw rug a little and the power brush cannot break free of it. It happens to both, but the Ryobi seems to be more susceptible to it.
Ergonomics on the Ryobi's handle is better for me since your hand is in a more neutral position when using it on carpets and overhead.
On high speed both are fairly loud, but on the lower speed I believe the Dyson is a bit quieter. The pitch of the motors are different, so it's hard to tell.
Overall, the Ryobi is a pretty good little vacuum.
I got mine for $168 on a "special buy" (no battery) on Home Depot's web site. It came with a wall hanger, charger and a couple of little attachment tools. With a 4ah battery, it is usually $229
Would I recommend it? Sure. You'll be cleaning the bin more often than the Dyson, but for the price, and the fact that it feels so much better built I would buy it over the Dyson. Especially since I have One+ batteries already and I got into it for less than half the price.
For what it's worth I felt like it needed to be compared to the Dyson.

Almost Perfect
Pros:
-Super convenient for quick cleaning
-Effective on wood/tile with enough power for carpets/rugs
-One fully charged 3 Ah battery will clean about 1000 sq ft of regularly cleaned floors
-Two settings for suction power
-Best thing I've ever used to clean carpeted stairs
-Great filter, I'm in the desert, fine dust, no problem
Cons:
-Wall mount takes some extra engineering to make work
-No stick size adjustment or intermediate size
-The brush attachment is more of a bristled scraper than a brush, really stiff bristles
-Loud compared to Dyson
-Takes a second to get up to speed
-Dust collector fills up quickly, especially with pet hair
-Rotating beater bar is not easy to removed wound up hair
Overall: I've been using this vacuum for about a week and I'm very satisfied. I probably wouldn't have purchased this if I didn't already have a moderate collection of Ryobi tools and batteries. That said, this is a nice addition to my collection. Like all Ryobi products you get a lot of tool for you money and its going to work in an in-home use capacity for me. I don't know if I'd recommend this vacuum to pro's. It doesn't seem like a tool that is going to hold up to heavy, daily use and abuse.

If you need a vacuum for tile or laminate floors, this vacuum is good. I used it on my laminate and there are no residual scratches or marks. My biggest complaint is trying to vacuum the runners I have throughout the house. It will always bunch up the runner and stop spinning. The only way I could vacuum them was by having my kids stand on either end to keep the runner stiff. When it came to the shag rug in my living room, I could only vacuum backwards. When I pushed the vacuum forward, the roller would stop. If you're going to use it on hard floors, I would say go for it. Have carpet? Stay away.

Does exactly what I wanted. Light and quick cleaning of my house. The filter clogging issue has been resolved.
I am able to vacuum my whole first floor to include tile, hardwood, and area rugs on half a 72ah battery. I have not used the charger that came with it as i use my quick charger. This is my 10th Ryobi purchase and I love the one battery multi tool.

For floors only, not carpet
Biggest disappointment ever for an area rug. I previously used a cheap $99 Shark to vacuum the cat hair from my area rug and it was great. Hubby wanted me to try this Ryobi because the battery was compatible with his Ryobi tools. Huge mistake. It is miserable on rugs, especially for cat hair. Ladies, don't listen to him!

Worth the money, buy it.
Have a Dyson hand held at home, not quite as powerful and a little heavier, HOWEVER.... at this price point the quality is still very good, head & shoulders over most other handhelds. We use it commercially in my 31 year old business. It's replacing many past hand helds & I'm very happy with this unit, love the replaceable 18v battery. Cheers
