Vinyl Siding Cut No Problem
I purchased this rotary cutting tool to perform a precision cut in vinyl siding. The tool was used for a recessed "in-use" single gang Arlington DBVR131W electrical box with GFI. The rectangular cut dimensions were 5-1/2" x 3-1/4". The bottom line is some of the reviews on this tool did not recommend using it for vinyl or plastic cuts. The cut went flawlessly in brand new 5" lap vinyl siding. The cut was done in less than five minutes with precision and no issues. The plywood cutting bit that comes with the tool was used and went through the siding like butter. I definitely recommend purchasing and using this tool for vinyl siding cut outs.

Smoke coming from the motor and drill bit broke
Not even a minute into it and smoke started coming out of the motor, and the drill bit that came with it broke. I'm inside a mid-attic with crawling with only 2.5" of space between the first main floor ceiling and the second floor. I thought this would make my job easy but it did not. I barely got half an inch cut into a half inch drywall when it broke.

      Great tool for cutting circles!
I needed to cut circles in plywood to make a cat wheel. Using a jigsaw led to a wonky uneven edge. Found this tool and gave it a try. Much more successful! I made a jig out of some scrap and as long as I was patient the circle’s edge came out very smooth. A welcome addition to my Ryobi cordless tool collection

I had to replace a pivot shoe on my bathroom window. The manufacturer had a cutout in the vinyl so you can replace the pivot shoe or counterweights, but it wasn't cut large enough for a new pivot shoe to fit in. So I needed a tool to trim the vinyl back some more to be able to fit the new pivot shoe in. This tool did the job great. As far as the tool itself I do have a couple complaints. It's not a trigger pull to activate, it's an on/off button. I didn't realize this as I was taking it out of the box and putting a battery on it. Since the button was in the on position it turned on as soon as I attached the battery. Luckily I didn't have the tool in a position that could have caused injury or damage. Also replacing the bits requires a little wrench tool. It doesn't have onboard storage so I'll have to keep track of that and the replacement pieces. It's nice the tool comes with a 1/4" and 1/8" adapter so you can use different bits with it. And the depth guide is nice to have as well. All-in-all it's got the power to get the job done. It cut through vinyl trim pretty easily so I think it would do well with drywall when I have to use it for that. Tool felt pretty sturdy and came with extra bits and a depth control guide. My only concern is with safety since there's not any sort of trigger pull to activate it. The on/off button just seems poorly thought out.

Purchased this tool for some drywall cutting. My son saw me with yet another new tool and rolled his eyes. That is, until he saw me use it to cut out around an outlet box and windows. His expression was priceless! Kinda like the value I put on this tool. :)

Great product. I've had it for a year now. I only used it about 5x but it gets the job done each and every time. I used this most recently the weeks of July 16th, 2017 and July 23rd, 2017 to cut out lettering in 1/2" thick MDF. This saw worked perfectly. Compatible with bits made from other companies like Rotozip

This works great for cutting drywall. It is much faster than a simple drywall saw, and there is little risk of cutting cables and other things behind the drywall because of the easily adjustable cutting depth. I found that the end of the tool leaves some black marks on my drywall if I'm not careful, but I was able to erase those marks just fine with a "magic eraser".

          Love this Spiral Saw!
I bought this to help with a drywall project, since the last time I used a drywall hand saw to make all the cuts I needed. I was skeptical, but now am a huge fan of this tool. The adjustable radius circle cutter attachment is awesome. It made cutting holes in sheetrock for pot light perforations a breeze. Fast, perfect circles. I wish I had bought this tool years ago. One minor con to mention, but not to detract from a purchase- it does use up batteries quicker than you'd expect. I have 2 batteries already though for my drill which doesn't use up batteries anywhere near as fast, but managed to cycle dead batteries though the charger while using one battery between the drill and the spiral saw, which only slowed me down a little. The time saving from the spiral saw over hand tools more than made up for that time of swapping tools on the 1 battery. I think in the course of 8 hours, the saw drained a battery twice, so not bad at all. Just be aware this is normal, so don't be surprised. Tip- there's 2 bits included in the box, but the manual doesn't explain which one's which, and at first glance they appear the same, but there definitely are subtle differences. The drywall bit has a rounded tip where the first 1/16" of the bit is a flat edge that allows you to cut drywall around an electrical box but not cut the box itself as the flat end just rubs the box allowing you to use the box as a guide while cutting the drywall, making for a tight clean fitting opening. The wood cutting bit looks like a drill bit at the end, where it is sharp edged to penetrate wood, and the spiral cutting edge runs right through to the tip. Love this saw!

I use this spiral saw as a die grinder. 1/4" shaft rotary bits fit perfectly, and I get about a 20-25 minutes of carving time from a 4am battery. I'm a sculptor who mostly works with wood, and I've recently started investing in Ryobi cordless tools to cut and shape wood when I work away from the studio. At some point I might get the new die grinder Ryobi put out -- adjustable speed is a good thing -- but this works well for now.

                                    Handy, powerful tool, but...
You can do a lot of work with this tool if you buy the appropriate cutting or grinding bits. I've trimmed (maybe you'd say "shaved down") soft metals and ceramic tile with carbide and diamond attachments. Very handy making those kind of field adjustments. But... the power switch is not designed for starting/stopping the device as you work - which is inconvenient. And that same slide switch doesn't have a firm detent - so it's easy to accidentally turn on or off. Finally, the depth ring has a thumbscrew for tightening, but the two pieces of metal don't have enough of an interlocking track to keep your bits at a fixed depth or perpendicular to the work surface. Overall, I recommend this tool.

                                      Gets very hot very fast
Don't plan on running this tool for more than a few minutes at a go. It's going to overheat. Also the on/off switch is where you're going to accidentally switch it off while using the tool. Also, it feels like it'd be safer if there was a dead-mans switch. This thing doesn't turn itself off if dropped or anything like that.

I had a hard time using this, and ended up just using a jigsaw with much more success. I just could not get this cutter to actually work the way its supposed to, or even cut the drywall at all. I wish I could return it.
