    Q:Is the front gard on this saw a chain brake like on gas saws? Or is it just a "hand gard"? The previous answer from Ryobi about the "lockout switch" was NOT helpful. At all.

            Far exceeded expectations
            I had a few tread I needed to cut down so I decided to take a chance on this since I already had batteries. It took care of this 10” diameter tree no sweat. With one 6ah battery I cut the tree down and cut up all the branches. My only complaint was that the chain had to be tightened a couple of times during the job.

              Great feel, Easy maintenance, Good functionality
              [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great for tree maintenance. Fantastic for firewood prep. It's no 16" gas chainsaw, but it's not trying to be. This saw was designed around the idea of wearing gloves. Big thumb safety switch is easy to locate and press. Two finger trigger and large trigger guard for XL hands. The chain spins at a good pace, cuts smoothly, and the push button oiler is in a great spot, again, easy to locate and use even with gloves. Batteries lasted longer than expected, but not amazingly so.

                Mighty Mite!!!
                [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this chain saw along with the 18v pole saw to clean up after an historic ice storm in Central Texas last month. I use it at my house, my brother-in-law's and my son's house. I also use it at the Austin Rescue Zoo voluntarily. It tackled everything I put in its way with flying colors! I'm still on the original chain even though I've cut countless oak limbs. I've attached a picture of just one of the trees it tackled successfully. Notice the size of the limb.

                  Perfect for trimming

                      Cuts with little effort

                        Oil everywhere
                        This seems to be a good chainsaw with one major down fall. Second time I used it all the oil leaked in the floor. Will be taking it back to trade it in. Hopefully the second one will not do this. If it does I will get a refund. When I called ryobi they said I well it just does that.!

                        Hello, Redford - We're sorry to see that you have not been entirely pleased with your chainsaw! Given the nature of chainsaws, it is normal for oil to seep from the saw when not in use. To prevent seepage, empty the oil tank after each use. When storing the unit for a long period of time (three months or longer) be sure the chain is lightly lubricated; this will prevent rust on the chain and bar sprocket. We hope this provides clarity!                             Awesome and powerful for how tiny
                            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this last year to cut a tree down and loved it. It had me want many products and build things. My first product was the power drill. I am hooked and get these for Christmas and birthdays. I am a 43 year old teacher that loves Ryobi and would love to build on it. Will have no other brand.
