Used this for ice fishing. Worked great with a 8 inch and 6 inch auger. Was able to drill plenty of holes for the day with the included 4.0 battery. Eventually took it back because I couldn’t commit my whole power tool collection to the ryobi system. It seems there just isn’t enough brushless one+Hp tools offered yet. I bought Dewalt xr tools at the end of the day, but overall I was very very happy with this drill. It’s a great choice for less money.

Ive had this drill for over a month now. I got it because I already have several Ryobi power tools and batteries. I feel like you get a lot of tool for the money. The power and build quality of this drill seem on par with other top brands. It feels great in the hand and the accessory handle provides extra grip and leverage when heavy duty drilling is needed. I do slightly miss the bit holder and mag tray from the last hammer drill model but over all this one seems higher quality. This thing drilled an inch and a quarter spade bit hole with ease. It also drills super fast. I have not used the hammer drill function just yet but im sure it would work great for drilling reasonably sized holes in concrete or masonry. My old Makita Hammer Drill is about 15 years hold and even with relatively new batteries it can't even come close to the speed and torque of the Ryobi. When I compare size I can confidently say that the Ryobi has about a 20% smaller footprint. I had to drill two holes for a satellite dish and the Ryobi went through it like butter. After using this for a few other projects I feel that with it's power and speed this Ryobi is the ultimate drilling and driving solution. I think that by using brushless motors in conjunction with their HP - High Performance batteries Ryobi is pushing into the entry level professional category. All of this with a 3 year warranty how can you go wrong.

This drill is very compact for a hammer drill. I will show the difference in size between my old one and this in the pictures. It is quiet and has a powerful 18v 4Ah battery to go with it. The battery will show the remaining charge by the touch of a button too. I like the integrated LED on the drill too. The handle is very easy to attach and stays in place really well. I haven't used this in cement yet, but everything else works great and as expected. I've noticed that the bags coming with a few of these Ryobi kits are flimsy and will probably fail pretty quickly, it's nice that it comes with a bag, but you will most likely want to get a better bag or put this in a tool box. Overall though, the tool and accessories work great, and I'm glad I got this.

Got this drill last week. It will be my GO-TO drill for just about anything. I’m an older female and the attached handle is very helpful. It gives me more control and my arms don’t tire. Handle secures firmly in the square “T” on the sides of the drill. The drill is balanced; handle doesn’t pull it over when standing the drill up – even without the battery attached. This drill’s flexibility and adjustments include the Hammer function for cement work and will be handy for our stucco exterior. Hammer only works in the high #2 gear. The Drill setting works in high and low gear settings. Drive mode is activated in any of the 1-22 torque settings and both low and high speed work in Drive mode. The keyless chuck is the older style which accepts all types of bits. As you twist the chuck, you can feel the click which indicates the bit is firmly locked into the claws. It’s easy to unlock, too. This kit included a charger and the large 4-amp hour battery. Battery was charged to two bars fresh out of the box and took about 2 hours in the charger to fully charge to four bars.

Overall, this is a great drill. The hammer mode functionality is really nice. I haven't used one of these before, but I was impressed with how much easier and faster it was to drill. My use case for this review was just drilling holes into a stump, but hammer drills will really show their worth drilling into masonry/concrete. The Ryobi brand is built (and priced) for the DIYer. There may be better hammer drills that will last way longer out there from other brands like DeWalt or Milwaukee, and I'd recommend them for anyone that needs a hammer drill ALL the time. For the DIYer that will use it every so often, the Ryobi works great. Pros: - SIGNIFICANTLY faster drilling - 18v Battery platform hasn't changed since its inception. Your batteries will fit all 18v Ryobi tools. - I really like the chuck. It has a nice audible clicking noise almost like tightening the gas cap on your car that tells you it's locked onto the bit really well. The front also spins freely, allowing you to grab hold of the front to help place/guide the drill in the right spot - Can be used as a traditional drill/driver as well - The detachable handle is pretty strong. I was worried this was going to be weak, but I was able to put a pretty good amount of weight/force on it and I didn't feel like it was about to break. -Easily see battery level with the press of a button Cons: - Hammer is a little loud. DETAILED REVIEW: ------------------------ I now own both the PBLDD01 "regular" drill/driver as well as the PBLHM101 hammer drill that comes with this kit. I was interested to see just how much easier it was to drill with the hammer mode on, and I had just the project to do it. These two drills are nearly indistinguishable from each other. Aside from the "hammer" icon on the side and gear selection, they are basically the same drill. The hammer drill is a smidge longer from back to front, but that's about the only difference you'll notice. There is even a little depression on the regular drill where it will accept the detachable handle from the hammer drill, which I thought was interesting. We recently cut down a tree in our back yard, so I needed to drill some holes in the stump to speed up the process of stump decomposition. For this science experiment/review, I used both the standard drill and the hammer drill with a 1&1/8" spade/paddle bit to drill the holes. I'm sure a traditional drill bit or auger bit is a better bit for the job, but the paddle bit was cheaper, so that's what I went with... With the standard drill, it took a lot of effort to get the bit to bite into the stump and bore the hole. The hammer drill made a HUGE difference in this endeavor and the bit had no trouble getting into the stump and churning through it. I used a 2ah battery for the standard drill and only got about 5 holes drilled out of it. Using the 4ah battery that comes with this kit, one would expect at least 10 holes, but with the hammer mode enabled, I was able to get 18 more holes drilled before the battery died. I was definitely impressed with the increased efficiency. It was definitely noticeable in that I didn't have to put as much of my body weight into the drill with hammer mode on. As for the battery, it takes somewhere around 1.5-2 hours to charge from (totally dead state) using the charger included with this kit. I really like that you can tell the charge level by hitting the button on the battery.

Great hammer drill; turned my 60's concrete walls into swiss cheese. In all seriousness, the drill is very easy to use. More lightweight than some of its contemporaries while still packing enough power to get the job done. In the past, I've had trouble with some other brands' wireless drills simply not putting out enough power, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that this wasn't the case this time around.

This drill is powerful! It drills through concrete, brick, and block in seconds. The auxiliary handle is included and an LED work light is also part of the drill. When the drill is placed in Hammer mode, the brushless motor provides up to 29% faster drilling. Although the drill can be a bit heavy with prolonged use, the design and the handle make the job overall easier. The battery capacity is 4Ah, and the torque is up to 750 in-lbs. Another great Ryobi product.
