Q:Just purchased the 18 volt soil auger. The operator manual is not helpful in describing the LED functions. The Overload red light on my unit is on all of the time. Is this correct? Are the four dots on the left of the handle LED?s? None are ever lit.

Does what you expect
It dug right down like expected. The anti-kickback works, but it makes you think battery died. You just have to wait until it resets, and don't jostle around too much while running it.

Only had for a month or so. Auger was used at a build site for new home, putting up temporary electric pole. Renting a gas auger would cost half as much as this unit, but we intend on using auger again when we install a fence. Has overload switch which kicked on severl times. I just needed to get auger to full speed before plunging deeper in hole. Worked great.

It’s easy to use. Assemble in seconds. Beware if you are digging in a grassy area this thing doesn’t work. You have to use your shovel to remove the grass then use this to make that hole.

So i asked the question here weeks sgo askibg sbout performance. I took a chance on this (plus also purchased a gas auger as backup). I needed to dig 22 holes through Western PA soil with roots, rocks, and hard clay. With the kickback protection off, it did good. It’d stop and then id wait 3 seconds and continue. All 22 holes on one 4ah battery! Ill take it. Plus i plsnted a few trees earlier eith ease!!!

RYOBI ONE+ 18-VOLT HP LITHIUM-ION CORDLESS EARTH AUGER is great I work for an expeditor doing sign mounts. So far the blades are holding up well and the battery life is outstanding at least a week before recharges. This thing also has the torque to go straight down and pull up any rocks or small roots in the way overall this is well worth the price should I ever need would buy again.

The auger works great. It's easy to assemble, great quality, and powerful. I used it to dig a hole to plant a tree this weekend in my back yard. The auger has a kick back prevention mechanism which prevents the auger from continuing on when obstruction were discovered. Whenever we hit something, the auger stopped for a few seconds, prompting us to remove debris, then we were able to restart it. The auger moved rocks and roots with no issues and moves the earth quite smoothly. The battery lasted long enough for me to complete the entire project with juice to spare for the next project. I strongly recommend this product for DIY projects and small business endeavors. It's easy to handle and easy to control. Product comes with auger, battery, and charger. Battery should be charged before using.

I hate using a manual post hole digger. This auger is very easy to use and perfect for home use. I'm not sure how many holes it could dig on one charge, but it's powerful enough to keep up with one person digging and charging while putting in posts. The unit is simple to put together and the controls are well labeled and easy to understand. The kickback protection works and saves some bruises.

This is an interesting alternative to gas powered augers! I did struggle to attach the actual auger bit to the powering tool. Anyhow, once assembled, it is a nice addition to the gardener toolkit. I found that it works best when the soil is moist. I does take some use to. It's a brushless motor so it should last a long time. It's perfect for drilling tree holes and anything a bit deep without breaking your back, which I appreciate very much. If you are a Ryobi user, it is a great addition.
