ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Pruner with 2.0 Ah Battery and Charger

I have struggled for so long attempting to prune our Robellini palms with the usual run-of-the mill mechanical pruning shears, only to have to make multiple cuts to get through the thick stems and getting pierced by it's many thorns in the process This Ryobi Cordless Pruner is an absolute dream! With a soft grip handle and a convenient trigger, it is now a pleasure to prune. We are also using it to clean up our very messy Bird of Paradise. Ryobi has so many wonderful tools and I commend them on this innovation! Did I mention I LOVE IT?

I recently received the Ryobi - RYOBI ONE+ 18V Cordless Pruner with 2.0 Ah Battery and Charger. I'm very happy with this tool. I when around my back yard cutting all kinds of small limbs. I cut up to 3/4" limbs with no problem, I pruned a Fig tree with easy, a Lilac very easy and several whews. This tool performed excellent, with no trouble cutting the larger limbs. I also like how well Ryobi stands behind their tool, If you have a problem just contact them and they bend over backward in trying to help you. I differently would recommend this tool.

This arrived at the perfect time as I wanted to get the trees trimmed up before summer officially started. I have been trimming trees with branches a little over an inch, and these shears go through it with no problem. It’s very powerful and even those larger branches don’t see to hold it back. It’s also comfortable to hold and use, and it’s fairly light. I used it for quite a while with no issues, and got all my trimming done quickly with this tool. I also used it for a couple of hours and still had plenty of power left in the battery. Highly recommended for your yard!

I ordered the ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Electric Cordless Pruning Shear with 2.0 Ah Battery and Charger for my wife, who is an avid gardener. It is springtime here in Colorado and there is plenty of pruning to do in preparation for our short summer season. I was excited when I saw that Ryobi added pruning shears to its ONE+HP line of tools. This is my 13th Ryobi tool that is compatible with the 18V charging system and I was confident that I would get a high-quality tool as I have been pleased with every tool I have. The tool arrived solidly packed and, in its’ store-shelf box. That’s a good thing for the environment, not adding an extra box. It is also neon green, inviting porch pirates to come investigate. I have mixed feelings about that. I think that a tool that is in bright neon packaging with a picture of the tool on the box is pretty tempting for someone who is looking to steal certain items…just sayin’. The Pruning shears are awesome! With the 2-amp hour battery, they aren’t too heavy and the jaws are powerful and sharp. The designers got the balance just right as they are easy to handle. They are quite a bit heavier than manual shears but they make up for it with effortless cutting, a real boon to arthritic fingers. I tested them on various bushes and trees and found that when used for a long time the added weight results in some arm fatigue, but I found that short breaks kept it under control, and even with the breaks I was much faster than with manual sheers. The packaging claims that the shears work on branches up to 1”. I found they worked effortlessly on slightly bigger branches. Very impressive performance! I had no finger/hand fatigue at all. The tightening feature is handy to keep the tension between the cutting edge and the “anvil” just right. The ability to remove the cutting device is brilliant, making it easy and safer to sharpen the blade when it is needed. Another great tool in the ONE+HP family; well designed, balanced and very efficient.

Ryobi's new pruning shears has made easy work around the garden and shrubs. It's 18V brushless technology is cordless and runs off the One+ 2Ah battery. (Battery & Charger included in kit) It has a one inch cutting capacity and 1.5 times faster. Bypass blades for a clean cut. On board light for hard to see places. Trigger squeeze handle is enclosed for safety.

This Ryobi One+ HP Electric Cordless Pruning Shear is a new product which I had to try. It is powered by a 2 Ah One+ 18 Volt Battery which is included along with a charger, but you can use any Ryobi One+ 18 V battery. The product is large and heavy, but the blades make a powerful, clean, easy cut on branches up to 1 inch. The rubberized grip and trigger activation makes it easy to handle and there is a light located under the blades. Like all of my Ryobi tools, it is heavy duty and well made. I have used this tool many times and it is great on tree branches and larger shrubs where the cuts are easy to reach. The cutting blade is replaceable and the tool has a 3 year warranty.

My wife LOVES this tool. It’s so much easier on her hand than manual pruners. Battery life is exceptional.

Awesome tool and works extremely well. Light weight and easy to use, I use a smaller battery to keep the overall weight down.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, I love Ryobi's tools, they seem to have everything you need when it comes to DIY enthusiasts like myself. About the ​18V ONE+ HP PRUNING SHEAR KIT. I was very impressed with how Ryobi's team designed it and how comfortable it felt in my hand. The trigger will take some getting use to but no longer than a few minutes with use. With a manual hand pruner, your squeezing your palm to cut the branch, and with the ​18V ONE+ HP PRUNER, all you do is use your index finger and pull. I was blown away when I first started using it. For instance, I had to cut a couple large hanging branches down with my ONE+ 18V 8 In. Pole Saw. Once fallen, I used the 18v pruner to cut away all the smaller branches. I'd say it was 3/4 faster than it would've if i had used a manual pruner. It cut through branches with ease, I never tried cutting anything larger than 2 centimeters, but everything else was snip, snip! I still had to use my RYOBI ONE+ 18V Lopper to cut through anything larger. This 18V +HP PRUNER is must have! You won't be disappointed. love this tool.

This pruner will cut up to 1" thick branches, with a caveat. Namely, it will only cut soft green wood that is 1" thick. Up to 3/4", it will easily cut anything, even the hardest dry wood. It is very fast acting, both closing and opening in less than a second, so you can move quickly through a series of cuts. The cuts are very clean with no splintering. The battery lasts for hours on a single charge. One feature that seems to be lacking on this US market version is the ability to park the blade in the closed position for safe storage. This is also necessary to be able to close the snap on the end of the protective sheath. However, this can be done by pressing the trigger to close the blade and then removing the battery while maintaining the trigger in the closed position. The battery can then be installed, and the blade will not open until the trigger is again depressed. Overall, I am very pleased with this pruner, and would recommend it to others.
