Asked by Shopper May 6, 2020

Hi Shopper! Thank you for your question. Yes, this kit will be able to accommodate that purpose.

how strong is this tool and is it made with carbon steel

Asked by Eugene February 10, 2020

Unfortunately, it broke very quickly for me. I had to buy another one and, since it broke in the screw, I could not get through the extractor. I ended up, luckily, being able to drill a whole new hole to fix our problem, but that might not always be possible.

NO! If you have already cut a slot, use a slot head screw driver.

Will this work on a stainless steel bolt?

If properly drilled before,using extractor

The instructions show using a crescent wrench to remove.....how does this work on the #1 extractor as there is virtually no head on the extractor...

Asked by Steve July 6, 2019

It doesn't. Any crescent wrench, with constant pressure applied with your fingers to keep the span constant, will strip the head almost immediately. As soon as I tried this tool, I realized it had zero hope of working, unless the broken off bolt is super loose already.

It worked!!!
Yeah! It worked! I used a 5/32" drill bit then the #2 extractor and it would not work... I switched it to the #3 extractor and it came off right away! I did not try using a hammer and a wrench and simply used my cordless driver and it came right out! I thought about only getting the #2 extractor and am so glad I threw out the extra $6 and got this set. The set case and individual extractor screws appear to be of very decent quality!

Screw remover
I went from a screwdriver, flat head really from all type shape and sizes trying to remove a stripped screw from the back of my dryer . I used a power drill hammered which felt good at that point to release some frustration. I googled some info and used some of those methods too like rubber band and the hammer part , however I bought these to use hoping it would work simple and easy screw removed but that wasn't my experience over all I used a wire cutter which gripped the screw and twist it out . Real simple and easy . I'm still glad I have this purchase to keep in case with my other tools .

Not strong material
I purchased these extractors for use on a size10 screw that was broken on my bike frame. I followed all the instructions on the box. Once I had the extractor in as I was turning with the wrench, the extractor snapped off

Worked as advertised
These easy out bits did a great job with removing five wood screws that have been stripped out in my door hinges. The key I found was making sure that you properly drilled out the stripped phillips head and made a large enough hole as well as picking out the correct easy out bit. Once that was determined the five screws came right out very easy.

This was my first experience with a screw extractor kit, so it would have helpful to know the tools required: a drill bit, a hammer, a wrench. What do I need an extractor for then?? I followed the directions, but it didn't work. Didn't meet my expectations.

Quick and Easy
We had a screw that was over torqued and stripped in a chair. So I got this kit and was able to get the screw out in just a few minutes. Be sure to drill the stripped screw before using this. Once you see the screw turning with the drill bit you know it's time to use this.

worked like a charm
A buddy was helping me level my truck and he broke a bolt off in the lower control arm. We picked this kit up along with some titanium drill bits. Picked the drill bit and extractor according to the chart included with the kit. Drilled the bolt with the bit, tapped and screwed the extractor with an adjustable wrench. The bolt came out with no issues.

Bought this screw extractor to remove a 2014 VW Passat star bolt oil pan plug that was stripped. ...
Bought this screw extractor to remove a 2014 VW Passat star bolt oil pan plug that was stripped. (Thanks Jiffy Lube). Read reviews after purchasing and I became concerned about it breaking off since there was some mention of it. The Grabit extractor had slightly better reviews so I purchased it and attempted to remove my bolt. It was too small and didn't hold the grab. I then used the Ryobi screw extractor. Went with the large. It grabbed and held the grab. The 20V Dewalt cordless drill didn't have enough torq to get the job done. Had to use a socket wrench. It took a lot of pressure to get it to loosen up. I was worried about it breaking off, but it did the job with ease. I should have taken a photo of the stripped bolt on the oil pan, but I wasn't planning to write a review. The photos are of the removed oil pan plug.
