Questions & Answers

Will it fit a craftmans power drill

Asked by: Bob
This will fit a craftmans power drill. Ignore the comments that say its not meant to be used with a drill. It clearly says to use a drill In the instructions.

Can this be used to remove a bolt that wont seem to budge from a front brake caliper?

Asked by: Scott
Unlikely. Poor quality. You're going to need a harder alloy set probably.

Is this 5-piece kit the same size as the DOCKIT kits? In other words, will it fit into the DOCKIT station?
Asked by: Mike
No, it's a lot smaller and doesn't have the grooves to fit the dockit system

I was taking off the hinges on the cabinet doors that I was going to refinish and found a number of the phillips hinge screws were no longer phillips but just a stripped crater. I tried small visegrips, needle nose pliers; no luck. I bought this set and had no trouble getting the screws out.

When inserted into steel bolt, the first extractor i tried didnt even grip the bolt, and immediatly rounded the flutes and spun. The second one i tried, the threads on the extractor gripped but very shortly after tore off. Threads arent near sharp enough to grip or strong enough

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well if you drill a pilot hole I like to restore old guitar amplifiers and speaker cabinets. Many of them come with worn off screw faces and require extraction. I picked this up at Home Depot, watched a couple videos onYouTube and it worked perfectly. The only issue I had was getting the extracted screw off the extractor. To do so, I put it in my power driver and set it for clockwise operation and drill the screw into a scrap piece of wood. Once the screw was fully embedded, the extractor bit popped off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't work for me I was repairing a deck, removing boards and some screws weren't forthcoming. These weren't what I was expecting to buy but all that was available. In hindsight I don't see how they can work given that the the threaded end is so long. How are you going to get that in a stripped screwhead? Maybe they work on a soft metal like brass but for deck screws I couldn't make these work.

One of the tasks I had was to remove a thin brass thread on a car antenna base that was cross-threaded. Because of the larger ID I needed to cut off the end of the largest extractor. It still worked perfectly. When these are worn out or lost, I will buy another set without hesitation.

I must say that the smaller screw extractors, which I needed, did not have a bottom grip that was easy to grasp. They need a new design. I am returning this because it was so unsatisfactory and did not do the job.

I ground a pilot hole with my Dremel, then struck the extractor bit with a hammer, and pulled it out with pliers. Successful operation!
