RYOBI introduces the Wood/Metal Door Lock Installation Kit. The RYOBI Wood/Metal Door Lock Installation Kit guides hole saws when installing locksets and deadbolts. This kit features a dual backset adjustment and auto-strike locator for improved accuracy with no additional measurements needed. For use on doors with a thickness range of 1-3/8 in. to 1-3/4 in., the Wood/Metal Door Lock Installation Kit includes a Door Lock Bracket, two bi-metal hole saws, an arbor with pilot bit, a 1 in. wood spade bit, bronze oxide drill bits, and a 2 in. double ended screwdriver bit.

    Probably not as the smallest thickness they will fit Is 11/2". Secondly , the hole saw clogs as soon as the teeth enter the wood.

    I have used it several times to install new locks/deadbolts in a metal clad commercial door. You have to go a little slow with the hole saws, but they work fine.

    Two pair of channel lock pliers: 1 to hold the arbor, the other to loosen the hole saw.. I recommend making the 1 inch hole in the edge first, and leave the hole saw PARTIALLY in the door for more stability of the fixture when you start with the 2 1/8" hole saw. (Either way, it is common for the hole saw and arbor to lock together in use. )

    Yet if you drill the handle hole first. When you drill the latch hole the bit take all materials out. I just find it odd they would give the spade bit too. I did the entire pronect without touching the spade bit

    Probably not. The way the bit setup is, you won't be able to take the door core out without drilling all the way thru.

    horrible
    After the first use, the knob bit froze up and i couldnt detatch it to change the bit for the lock barrell.. waste of money now i need to buy another

    Quality issue and support nonexistent
    Bought this for a replacement door job. The replacement door was an off the rack 6 panel fiberboard door with the cardboard reinforcements inside. Where the door knob would be installed was solid fiberboard. In other words... this was not an oak palace door. It was easy to use and lined up fine and I followed the instructions to drill the 2 1/8" hole through til the drill bit came through then drilled from the other side. When I drilled from the other side the bit snapped in half. It looked like an alloy inside. So, being the patient sort that I am I tried to call Ryobi to see if they would send me another or could I buy one. Nobody picks up and THEY WERE NOT ACCEPTING EMAILS..... Whaaaa ? So I went to plan B which was bring it back to Home Depot. Luckily I had a Dewalt 1/4" bit that fit into the hole saw and finished the job. In short, if you are hanging a door made that's not made out of sharp cheddar or styrofoam you might want to make sure you have an extra 1/4" bit with a flat bevel around.

    Plastic unit, if you're gonna be using for a business I would definitely invest in a metal style like Irwin, but I'm doing my home and maybe a couple more doors for some friends, used 12 times on my home in last 2 weeks. I love it, especially with the cheaper price tag. And lining up with old latches in casings, it worked perfect everytime.

    Bit breaks off
    I started to use the kit on a bi metal and wood door and I didn’t even get through the door. The bit broke off in the door. I do not recommend getting this item.

    Cannot remove arbor with pilot bit from the 2 1/8" hole saw. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
    The included arbor with pilot bit (1x) was suppose to interchanged between the 1" and 2 1/8" hole saws (and you need both hole saws). Unfortunately after sawing with the 2 1/8" hole saw this bit will become pretty much permanently attached and impossible to be removed, rendering the 1" hole saw completely useless. After reading the review I realized that this is such a common problem it is surprising Ryobi chooses to ignore it completely. They should at the very least include 2 bits instead of one if they know of this problem. Do not buy this product.

    Doesnt work at all if door has a built-in window
    Most doors have a “lite” or window. The frame of that window normally starts 4 inches from the edge. So some genius at Ryobi designs the jig to extend to 4.5” (for no reason at all as it doesnt have anything to do witg function). This renders the enrite jib useless as it wont connect squarely to the door. They obviously dont test things on real doors.

    Easy to use
    This accessory set worked very well. I needed it to change 10 handle sets in my home. As a woman who's never tackled this type of project before it was easy to use and the results were perfect.
