RP140 Radon Fan

$ 138 99

Overview

The ENERGY STAR Rated RadonAway RP140 radon fan is intended for use as a component of an active soil depressurization (ASD) system for reducing radon. The RadonAway RP 140 is ideal for new construction, providing superior performance and ultra-quiet, energy-efficient radon reduction. Designed for lower pressure and average flow, the RP140 fan provides an especially efficient choice for very porous sub-slab/sub-membrane material (that is 4 in. of clean, size 4-6 gravel) and can be used for slab/membrane sizes up to 1600 sq. ft. The RadonAway RP140 is built to resist moisture and can be mounted inside or outside on a 4 in. Sch. 40 PVC vent pipe using 4 in. x 4 in. flexible couplings. NOTE: When installing an ASD system for radon reduction, any openings, major cracks and penetrations in the building slab or membrane must be sealed. Fan sizing for retrofit may require professional diagnostics and design.

can you connect the cord with plug-in or send the one that goes to it with the product, it seem by the guestions people ask in thier reviews was that thier was no plug in with it and they used a used one off thier old one. would be good to have the write one at the same time. we would have a electrion put it together for us, and that way if we wanted it to be moved to differt spot we could instead of being direct wired.
Asked by: linda
you can plug it in but if it is installed outdoors you need a GFCI outlet and a weather proof box and cover for electrical protection

How do you get power to this fan? Plug in via extension cord or wired?

Have not bought product yet, can't find answers online.

Either way. You have to supply wiring. Mine is plugged into an outlet

It ran quietly, smoothly, and within 24 hours, radon concentration in my basement went from about 25 pCI/L down to less than one pCi/L. At our current rate for electric service, the estimated annual cost to run the RP145 is about $60 according to the cost estimator on the RadonAway website. Because the fan reduced the radon concentration so quickly, I thought a more efficient fan might work as well, so purchase the Energy Star rated RP140. Estimated annual electric cost is less than $20. As with the RP145, it's maintaining radon below one pCI/L. While the RP145 was running, the water-column manometer on my system registered about 0.7. With the RP140 it registers about 0.35, but still enough to be effective in my installation. I've been very satisfied with both RadonAway fans.

This unit replaced the original perfectly (the original was the professional version). Figured out why the old one made so much noise, an open pipe 45 degrees to the sky, allowed sticks, dirt, and animal stuff to fall in. Remarkable the fan ran that long. Replacement is dead silent.

It is so quiet that I have to put my hand over the exit pipe to feel the air to be sure it is running. It has good air flow. I only had it 3 weeks, so we will see how it goes. Working great so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from easy install - super quiet After calling 5 local radon install shops, i was told the cheapest fan available was $450. They were all pushing install of the fan for an extra $50 for a total of $500. One guy slipped up and gave me the model number of what he'd install - it was this fan (i couldn't believe the price difference for the same product available via home depot online). He talked up the fact that install is extremely risky and difficult. Anyone thinking about spending that much money to get it installed considered this - i'm an install idiot - this took me all of 5 minutes. It's a ground and power wire that's already in your home (if you're just replacing your fan). the old fan comes out this one slips on - tighten your pipe clamps, cap your wires and put the cover on. So save yourself upwards of $400, buy this unit, install it yourself and enjoy quiet radon free air at a great price point

I had a 3" pipe already installed with the new house I built, and just bought two 3" to 4" rubber connectors to mount it. Cut out about 10" of pipe and it attached easily. My only complaint is that they don't supply a simple clamp connector to secure wiring to the unit. It would be very easy and cheap for them to do this! I bought a 3/8" clamp connector, but had to modify it some to get it to fit in the existing hole where the connections are made, spending about 1/2 hour doing this. Poor of them to not include this.
