RP140 Radon Fan

$ 130 69

Overview

The ENERGY STAR Rated RadonAway RP140 radon fan is intended for use as a component of an active soil depressurization (ASD) system for reducing radon. The RadonAway RP 140 is ideal for new construction, providing superior performance and ultra-quiet, energy-efficient radon reduction. Designed for lower pressure and average flow, the RP140 fan provides an especially efficient choice for very porous sub-slab/sub-membrane material (that is 4 in. of clean, size 4-6 gravel) and can be used for slab/membrane sizes up to 1600 sq. ft. The RadonAway RP140 is built to resist moisture and can be mounted inside or outside on a 4 in. Sch. 40 PVC vent pipe using 4 in. x 4 in. flexible couplings. NOTE: When installing an ASD system for radon reduction, any openings, major cracks and penetrations in the building slab or membrane must be sealed. Fan sizing for retrofit may require professional diagnostics and design.

can you connect the cord with plug-in or send the one that goes to it with the product, it seem by the guestions people ask in thier reviews was that thier was no plug in with it and they used a used one off thier old one. would be good to have the write one at the same time. we would have a electrion put it together for us, and that way if we wanted it to be moved to differt spot we could instead of being direct wired.
Asked by: linda
you can plug it in but if it is installed outdoors you need a GFCI outlet and a weather proof box and cover for electrical protection

RP140 Radon Fan is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 81.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet fan with adequate suction I installed this fan in an old house with a walkout basement. Before installation a a radon reduction system, the radon levels were in the 10 - 12 range depending on season. After installation, the radon level dropped to about 2 within five days. The fan is very quiet and cannot be heard in the house. This is the lowest power fan available, but is adequiate for my situation.

It is so quiet that I have to put my hand over the exit pipe to feel the air to be sure it is running. It has good air flow. I only had it 3 weeks, so we will see how it goes. Working great so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quietest Radon Fan I researched and found this to have the lowest decibel rating. It is truly quieter than my last one. It sucks less air/pressure. I though I'd try it and found that my radon levels were almost exactly the same after installing it, even though it is much less powerful than the last one(i have a radon meter to check). My levels are high without either fan. So I am happy. I like quiet. Not totally quiet but barely perceptible from 10 feet away

Rated 5 out of 5 by from top quality, runs quiet, I would recomend as #1 performance This radon fan is installed inside the house (in basement area) next to a family room and a bedroom. It is so quiet when you are in the next room you can not hear it run. It replaced another Radon Fan (for inside use) that was two weeks old and made much noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DIY Radon system I wasn't about to spend $1,800 having a radon fan installed in my home so having access to a quality radon fan for an affordable price was outstanding. This fan is light and built to withstand harsh winter and rain. It's runs at a very low wattage and pulls a higher volume of air that I was expecting. My fan is located outside the house and the noise heard inside is still low enough that our son can still sleep in the bedroom where the air line is located. This fan was easy to install using the proper outdoor conduit and wiring that met our city codes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works This was a direct replacement for the same model that reached the end of its lifespan at about 6.5 years. I have two and they are on humidistats, so they run intermittently here in CO. Frankly, 6.5 years seems a bit short for less than constant operation. The old one died noisily - sounded like the bearings were toast. This one is much quieter and the exhaust is strong and steady. The silence of the new one is great. No complaints - but time will tell how long it lasts.

This product was an exact replacement (RP140) for my old one that had been installed in 2004/05. Because of that, it fit perfectly into the space that had been used originally. Keep your old power cord because you will need to take it off the old unit and use it in the new one. You will also need a cable clamp to clamp the power cord - it should be movable from the original unit if it was correctly installed.

I replaced an older, non-working radon exhaust fan for our home with this product. The fact that it was Energy Star rated was an important factor. It's only been in service 3 weeks, but it's working fine and working quietly at this point. It was an easy installation. Thumbs up for the quick delivery, also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product The fan has only been installed for around one month. So far, so good. Very quiet operation and it moves enough air to keep the radon barrier against the dirt floor. It was no problem to add the electrical bits (wire and plug) but it would be useful to know that these are options. The size of the fan is good for installing in tight spaces in the attic. Overall, a very good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from RP 140 works good I replaced my RP145 with this for the reduced wattage. It was a direct swap so it only took 5-10 minutes to replace. Even with the reduced flow it seems to work about the same. I am getting nearly the same vacuum in the system and it seems quieter. Hopefully this one last more than 5 years. My last one made it just past the warranty.

I had a radon level of 6-8 pCi/l in my home. After the installation of this fan with a 3” pvc pipe it was virtually illuminated with readings 0.10 pCi or even lower! I am glad I chose the lowest power, energy star rated fan. I did work for my home. Installation was easy enough for me to do it myself - I had a new basement slab installed at the time, so placing a pipe connection in the concrete was really easy. Inter that, I just routed the pvc pipe outside through the sill plate using a 3 5/8” hole saw. You will need an electrical connection as well, for which I had hired an electrician. All else was DIY. Works like a charm.

Quality product that was easy to install in the application that we are using it for. We are using it to draw heated air out of our server closet and it is doing a fine job at that. The reason that we went with this fan is because of its ability to be on continuously. It is a little louder than was expected but not annoyingly so. The vacuum is lower, as this fan uses 1/3 the power of the old fan, but what I think is important is that the basement slab is under vacuum, so radon will not seep into the basement.
