Dose not. Make sure you have removed the water source from the spigot.

Could it be used in reverse to add a hose connection to the end of an underground system ?

I don't believe the in-ground part of the connector seals tight; the seal is on the hose end. Also, you would be connecting to the wrong end of the hose. There would be far better ways to add a hose connection to an in-ground irrigation system.

Rain Bird Sprinklers are excellent
I bought 3 of these Rain Bird Sprinklers as I was putting new grass seed down and wanted consistent watering. If you following the directions of digging 9 inches deep and I believe 5 inches in length it will be perfect. The sprinkler is extremely easy to put together before putting in the ground. Great directions are put together. After you do the first one you won't need the directions for the others. Each set also comes with a female attachment to attach to your hose to the male portion that is on the sprinkler module. What I like about this is you can have the female piece on the hose and turn the water on and won't be spraying every where. Go over to one of your sprinkler caps and hook the female end up to the male and it works great. I was shocked how far this really sprays and reaches. You are able to control the sprayer head on which directions/areas you want water to spray or use the option to leave it up so it shoots water in a 360 degree circle. My only minor complaint is the screw that controls the water distance is not as sturdy and probably could use a little bit of a redesign. Other than that it is really a great product to unhook and hook up to another rain bird sprinkler. This product really gives a good consistent watering base without spending a lot of money on an irrigation system.

This Rain Bird sprinkler that connect to a simple garden hose is exactly what I was looking for. I have this same sprinkler heads for my whole lawn, but had a small section that never got enough water. This simple connection to a garden hose made it super easy and now my whole lawn is evenly green. The psi is the same as my real ones connected to an professional irrigation. This is the perfect solution for anyone wanting to be able to move around and powerful sprinkler head for their yard.

I've put in two of these which allow me to quickly plug in my hose and my lawn watered through a brutal summer. Combined with a timer it's as close as I'll need to get to a true inground sprinkler system short of spending a few hundred to thousands of dollars (DIY vs pro). I really enjoy this sprinkler for a few key reasons: 1.) I can tune the sprinkler to the exact location on my lawn for range & distance to maximize coverage and reduce waste 2.) They never need repositioning 3.) I can hook them up to a timer to automate waterings during hot summer or growing periods 4.) Incredibly easy to install The only thing I don't like about these is how the hookup requires the hose to stickup out of the ground. If they made an attachment in an L-shape, allowing the hose to lay flay, then I could almost leave the hose connected all the time.

The assembly of this product is pretty easy but trying to get the connector out of the housing is very difficult. I had to use pliers to do it and even then it was hard. The box says you have to "dig a small hole". This is very misleading as the hole needs to be fourteen inches long and nine inches deep. You then have to back fill the hole to secure the product. It is a good product but the installation is out of my capability.

Assembly is easy and straightforward. The pieces fit together easily without Teflon tape or pipe dope. The next step is to do a trial positioning of the sprinkler. This can be a little tricky as I could not find a way to pull the sprinkler up to preset the direction. You have to connect it to the water with no idea which way it is pointing. Plan to get wet! Once you have determined the perfect location you dig a hold deep enough (9" at the deepest point) to set the top of the sprinkler and hose access at ground level, then fill in around it. If you are careful with the grass as you dig the hole, you can fit it in and make the sprinkler almost disappear into the lawn. Finally you need to adjust the sprinkler to reach the desired range without overshooting. One of mine would reach the right end of its swing and fail to return to the left. I eventually learned to switch the two swing adjusters so that the lower one was pressed at the right end of the swing - it gives the direction lever more leverage to switch back to the left. This sprinkler is a great alternative to a fully-plumbed in-ground irrigation system if your yard has too many trees, rocks, or other impediments to allow the plumbing to be buried. It does not stop you from dragging hoses around the yard, but you only need to drag the hose and not drag and adjust the sprinkler for each section - much nicer! I found no instructions about how to winterize these sprinklers. I plan to build a connector to allow me to blow them out with my air compressor this fall to prevent freezing.

This in ground sprinkler was the perfect solution for a problem I didn’t even know I had. During these hot summer months it can be a pain to water the lawn one day and mow the next and try to get the sprinkler back to it’s best location. This setup allows you to leave the sprinkler in it’s ideal location all year without interfering with anything in the yard and without digging to put irrigation in. It’s very well constructed, installation is a breeze, and hose hookup takes seconds

I've used Rainbird products for many years and have always been impressed by their quality and performance. The LG3HE Click-N-Go in-ground sprinkler is no exception. It's perfect for those areas hard to reach or if you don't have a sprinkler system installed. It was an easy 30 minute install and it was up and running. The pop up impact head is fully adjustable for excellent coverage and the quick disconnect for the hose works perfectly. The estimated throw is 26' to 41', so the coverage is great. I definitely recommend it for it's quality and super coverage.

Very good product that makes life simpler. The Rain Bird inground sprinkler is easy to install with basic tools and throws a lot of water which covers most of my back yard.I used a post hole digger which worked well as I was able to control depth of both sides of sprinkler.Just dug it out and lined up with top of earth below grass to make sure it was flush with ground when not watering.Easy connect with included part that attaches to hose. Adjustable for full or partial coverage that works well even with my poor water pressure.Smart product.

This is a great invention. As you can see in my pictures I have had one of these things for many many years and it finally quit. Actually the one I had and just dug up is a homemade version of this really nice Rain Bird system. It will take you less than 5 minutes to assemble. My real problem is digging in this gumbo in north Texas which is more like concrete. If we had good decent soil the entire installation would take less than 15 minutes, but we're not lucky like that here in North Texas.
