Would this work as added cover to carpeted floor under a parrot cage?
Asked by: parrot
Yes, it should work fine under your parrot cage. It is quite rigid and would be absorbent of some liquid spillage.

Could this be used for covering walls that are wooden slats that are uneven? Sheet rock is too thick .

Right now the walls have 90 years of wall paper that is loose from the wall in many places
Asked by: Mary
No, this is actually a paper product... the description using the word "board" is completely inappropriate. This is NOT a wall covering. This product is designed to cover existing floors, taped at the seams, for protection of the floor while other work is ongoing.

What type of tape is the best kind to use for this product that will not damage the floor if used to tape directly on?

I'm using it on a floor I cannot damage and the flooring needs to be taped down so it doesn't move. I heard the ram board tape will damage the floor if used to tape directly onto the floor. I need something strong that will hold down the flooring, but will not leave a residue on the floor when taken off.
Asked by: Aly
It's not about what kind of tape to use. It's what kind of floor surface you have. Then, you can decide what kind of tape might be safe to use on it. ie. Older clear coats can easily be pulled up from common 3M blue painters tape. Clear coats on modern, concrete floors can also end up showing tape lines that can't be simply cleaned or buffed out. But many modern clear coats will be totally fine with blue tape. Just be careful... simply testing a strip and pulling it right away won't be the same as if it stays down for a few days. And the angle of light hitting the floor might have to be just right for you to see what really might occur. I have worked as a location site manager for still and motion productions for 10+ years in hundreds of homes of all types [but usually higher end] in Los Angeles. And I've seen standard 3M blue tape do plenty of damage to floors and other surfaces. It's not "delicate" surface tape. By 3M's own words, it's Standard. Old clear coat on terrazzo won't stand a chance. It'll be hard to see, but when the light hits it, the damage sticks out dramatically. New terrazzo, so far, has been fine. Modern concrete residential floors with clear epoxy... some are so delicate... same problem. Real wood floors... do not risk it. Old or real lacquer, is just not worth the risk. Engineered floors, etc, should be good. slate tiles/pavers - DO NOT TAPE! Unless, you're 100% certain the clearcoat is bomb proof. smooth stucco walls... do not tape. It'll pull tiny specks and seem harmless, but then you'll start noticing straight line strips of the walls that are noticeably more porous than the rest. non-ceramic tiles, travertine, limestone... do not risk it. ceramic tiles and some marble... maybe... only maybe. depending on if there's some sort of clear coat to 'protect' it. The ceramic and marble are tough, but whatever is on them for protection, shine, etc.... that's another story. Just bite the bullet and use more Ram board to be able to tape it to itself. Then, perhaps toolboxes, or gear can help weight it down in place. Good luck. [The 3M blue tape that has the orange label inside, is for 'delicate' surfaces. But that won't hold anything securely. It's purely for masking off portions. Not for holding anything.]

We had moved to a new home and we used this to protect our floors when the moving company moved all our things in. It's a very thick sheet and is still breathable for newly finished floors. It completely protected our floors from the dollies and movers moving back and forth. It's heavy duty stuff and as such it is pretty hefty. For us, it was a one time use due to all the mover traffic, it had started to separate as we kept rolling up and unrolling to protect various parts of the home. If you don't roll/unroll, it should be more durable.
