The 5 Point Sensible Solution Standard: Control. Efficiency. Flexibility. Comfort. Value. In keeping with these values, Ramsond proudly introduces the GWi Series Super-Efficiency Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner, with INVERTER technology. These ACs are specially engineered to be high-yield and to cut power use, slashing up to 30% compared to standard rotary style mini splits. How, Normal rotary ACs shut off the compressor when not in use. That burns power getting back up to speed to cool or heat. Our inverter compressors simply ramp up or down rotation frequency using computer-controlled electromagnetic switching. Big words, but what does it mean. Ramsond GWi ACs use less power starting up, reaching optimal comfort faster and cheaper. That's more money for you every month while keeping cool. Just like our classic GW Series, these mini splits can be setup almost anywhere with no need for ductwork. By design, mini splits can be used in the area (or zone) installed in without affecting other spaces. (Our units can be programmed to do it themselves using automatic timer startup/shutoff, too.) Also called zone systems, mini splits cool/heat only the zone in which they're placed. They can be turned on when desired, then just turned off when done. That flexibility means energy savings compared to central climate control. Ramsond ACs also have Heat Pumps standard - not only cooling during hot summers, they produce supplemental heat in fall and winter.
  • Mini splits have 2 main parts: an outdoor unit (condenser), and indoor unit (evaporator), the indoor unit is hung onto an included metal bracket fastened to an interior wall, like a picture frame, a hole is cut through the wall to pass the wiring and included insulated copper line set through, this connects the 2 units together, the outdoor is wired to the breaker, sending the indoor power, operation is controlled using the included wireless remote - simply set the desired temperature and the AC will run

      A:  30 Feet

      by|Jun 16, 2020

A:  Answered my own question by accessing the manual here: https://www.ramsond.com/r37gwi/ * When outdoor unit is installed LOWER than indoor unit, max elevation difference between the two units is 32.8ft * When outdoor unit is installed HIGHER than indoor unit, max elevation difference between the two units is 16.4ft, and there must be a s-trap in the tubing. * In all cases max distance of tubing between the two units is 65ft.

            So far so good
First of all, HD sent us the wrong unit. They sent a 110v unit when we ordered the 220v. We were past the point of returning before we noticed. Called and they did refund the difference but was disappointed. The unit itself was fairly easy to install if you are a person that can handle projects like that. I wouldn't attempt it if you are not mechanically inclined. Have only used the heater part so far, it takes the chill off the shop for sure which is very well insulated but as noted on product this is a supplement heating devise. Hoping the AC will work well this summer.

                Not really a DIY kit
You'd better have more than a rudimentary knowledge of the NEC and HVAC systems if you want to install this unit yourself. What they've basically done is package all the parts you'll need and call it a DIY kit. Prepare to educate yourself via YouTube videos and researching the electrical code because their instructions (accessed via the internet) are either generally vague or incomplete, especially on details on this particular unit. You'll see what I mean. Also, and it says this right on the unit, the warranty is void unless the unit is installed by both a licensed electrician and a licensed HVAC technician. So much for DIY homeowners. Having said that, I can say that I was able to educate myself in HVAC and electrical installation to a point that the install passed inspection and actually works well and I think the average bear could too. Its a great unit. But still no warranty.

Wow. I did not expect the installation to be that easy. On top of that it runs great! Now, let's see how long it'll last.

This is Not DIY. Also, if you think it has a warranty, read the manual. That is not included. When you read it, it has to be professionally installed to have the warranty.

NOT COMPLETELY DIY, AC PRO REQUIRED
The specs look good, easy mechanical install, rather simple wiring and placement on the wall. HOWEVER, don't assume after looking at the photos they are very misleading. The line set IS NOT PRECHARGED. The photo displays a DIY sign on the copper line set. An additional fee by a AC PRO will cost several hundred dollars to evacuate and charge the system plus the cost of refrigerant.
