Will I be able to drill a hole in this after 90 minutes to mount my doorbell?

Asked by: KC
It should be hard enough, but I'd wait longer so that it gets stronger and not crack.

I need to patch the underside of a windowsill. Will this stick to the mesh and not fall off, with nothing holding it?

To clarify: this is the underside of a horizontal surface, so nothing except stickiness is holding the stucco in place.
Asked by: Howlleo
Yes it will. Stuff sticks like glue with the ingredients the manufacturer uses

Can I use this product on exterior holes in a stucco wall? How well does it with stucco that has paint in it?Images VIEW

How well does it bond
Asked by: chris
This is a coarse 16/20 grit Stucco. You can Use some DAP textured patch to do the fine filling and blending. I was able to knock the coarse rapid set stucco down fairly smooth with a disc sander . When rolled with a 60 grit textured paint the repair will be perfectly blended and invisible.

The directions state to mix it in a 4:1 ratio of material to water, which would be 2 quarts of water for the entire 25 lb bag. However, using that proportion made the material way too dry for me to trowel. It seems that a better proportion is around 2:1 or alternatively just mix it gradually until it has the consistency test of not dropping off a trowel when you hold it up. It will dry rock hard. For small patches, it is great because it dries so fast that you can paint the same day. I used it to patch a 28" X 20" hole from an old window unit AC. One 25 lb. package will cover about four square feet. Just remember, you can't mess around with the time you take to apply it. You basically just have enough time to mix and make one pass at troweling it on when temps are around 80 degrees. I would use ice water if you want to prolong the working time. Use a red or green rubber float and lightly rub in a circular motion to bring out the sand for texture.

I successfully used this stucco patch to fill a void hole area around a hose bibb on the wall of my garage. Mixing 4:1 water to powder was way too runny, more like 1:1 worked better and I still had to wait about 30min or more for it to get to where it was easier to work with but it was a cool day in the 60's. I had almost 2 hours where I could still work with the material before it started to harden at this temperature. It got solid hard after several hours and I painted it the next day. I only wish it was available in a lower cost smaller portion, I didn't need even more than 5% of the amount in the box for this job.

My only complaint is that the packaging says that it is ready to paint in 2 hours. It hasn't been really hot here in AZ, but we've had highs in the mid-60's for 2 weeks, and some of the patches still haven't completely dried -- especially the places not in the sun. Have to wait til it dries to paint it. But otherwise, really like the product.

This is easy to work with, stays where you want, doesn't crack, and you can paint within a couple of hours. You can thin way down to use for texturing also. All painters or handyman should keep a box with you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth, Easy to Work With, Dries Fast I was a little apprehensive about patching the stucco on the back side of my house. I have done mortar on bricks and concrete sidewalks, but this was a stand up wall. I shouldn't have feared. With the consistency of mortar (stay on trowel held at 90 degree angle to ground) it went on just as if I was troweling a cement sidewalk. In fact, I used a cement trowel to do the work and a cement float to get the dimpled look of the texture. And a clean piece of plywood for a mortar board (easier to use than scraping it out of a mixing bucket). The stucco patch mixed easily with no lumps. Like mortar, it dries just a little shortly after mixing so what is a little too wet when mixing comes out the right wetness for the job. There are directions on the bag to mix 1 part water to 4 parts stucco patch.
