Rated 5 out of 5 by from ITS COMPLICATED! I'm just writing this review because I've seen a lot of reviews on here by people that don't understand Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries! They are NOT like non-rechargeable! Don't expect them to be! You MUST learn how to charge and use properly. There ARE different sub-types of the SAME batteries for DIFFERENT uses! The state of NiMH is now that they are offered in 2 general types (though they may vary of bit more than that), the two types are: normal, and 'plus'. The normal kind usually has a LOWER energy capacity (mah) but can be recharged MORE times, and may have a Lower Self Discharge. The normal types may not have a specific name. The 'plus' variety are now usually being labeled as 'plus'...like from Rayovac, Energizer, Duracell. But there are some brands that have no such label. They are generally HIGHER capacity with a LOWER number of times they can be recharged. So, in for example AAA batteries, 'normal' might be 400-650 mah or so, and 'plus' might be 700-1000 or so. AA's have a similar duality of ranges. Yes, sorry, it IS that complicated, but you CAN save a TON of money and TIME re-buying batteries if you use a lot of batteries. DON'T think NiMH are 'not good' or 'not worth it'. The truth is they are simply "NOT simple"! And you also have to try to match the type (normal or plus) with the type of device you plan on using them in. Higher drain devices such as high-drain flashlights or things with motors etc need the 'plus'. Lower drain like low-drain flashlights, cordless phones will give MUCH longer battery life (not time before recharge) than using 'normal' NiMH batteries. Determining lower vs higher drain devices might take some deep research unfortunately, but you'd only have to do it once. There might be some charts online, idk. These 'two' types have recently been labeled as such but the thing to remember is they offer 2 types for good reason: there is a 'trade-off' to each type. More mah is NOT always better! You can learn more but this gives you and idea of the MINIMUM you are supposed to know in order to select and use these. Study charging too!
