No -- there was no safety sheath for the blade, but it needs one when kept sharp. A old pants leg (old sweat pants, etc.) cut off and tied at the small end can cover and protect the blade and to provide reasonable safety when transporting the tool. The Razor-Back 16 in. Ditch-Bank Blade is a great too and is highly recommended for cleaning out banks, berms, and weeded/sampling areas that have grown up over time.
What tool is used to sharpen this
I use a wide file and grind both sides until it’s good their are other grinding wheels that can be used to do so
Would this tool be good for clearing a horde of the undead?
Yes it definitely would I believe I has good reach and a double edge is always useful
Not really. The blade is too thin. If somehow the undead were dependent on a blood supply or tendons, you could nick several ankles, but this has a long handle and a thin blade. It'll be essentially useless. Look for Brush Clearing tools. Not grass
I'm looking to deal with English Ivy by removing it without chemicals. I know the preferred method is by hand, but is there any tool out there that will work great for the task? We have so much of it to deal with. I would even be willing to rent big equipment just to get it to a manageable point.
Depends on your physical shape. The bank blade is a great implement of destruction but it will work you. It’s my preferred exercise equipment.
