Product Overview

The multiple grooves on the stone allow you to find the perfect fit for any triangular or round chisel, gouge, or other kind of woodworking tool. If you have a straight blade you can flip the stone over and use the flat side so you don't need two separate stones. The 400 grit is better for repairing damaged knives or removing chips as it will grind away more material from the blade. The 1000 grit is good for general-use sharpening and adding a polish to your blade. ADDITIONAL TIPS: *Be patient and take your time while sharpening, it could take up to an hour to sharpen depending on how dull or damaged your blade has become. *If the stone starts to feel dry or you feel too much friction, spray a splash of water to the stone. *Wipe with a dry cloth and wait til the stones are dry before storage. This will help extend the lifespan of the sharpening stones.
  • For curved blades: with multiple grooves, this innovative sharpening stone allows you to sharpen and polish a variety of round, curved, or triangular chisels, gouges, knives, and other small hand tools
  • Choose Your Grit: Our wood carving kit comes with 2 double-sided stones, one grooved and one flat. The 400 grit stone is best for sharpening while the 1000 grit stone is used for polishing.
  • User Friendly: No need for expensive honing oils, simply soak the stones in water for 10-15 minutes and start sharpening your blades. We include a quickstart guide in the user manual to help get you started
  • Dual Sided: Not only can you sharpen your speciality wood carving knives and tools, you can also flip the stones over to use the flat side for sharpening kitchen knives, scissors, or other normal straight blades with just one stone
  • Easy Maintenance: Simply wipe with a dry cloth and let the sharpening stone air dry before packing away. Leaving mousitre on the stone is harmful for the lifespan of the stone and the bamboo base

Nice set that can be used for flat blades also. I ordered this because I inherited a handful of wood carving chisels and had no way to sharpen them. Although I have flat stones for regular chisels/planes, my experience with wood carving sharpening stones is will. However this seems to be a decent set - somewhat shorter at 4" by 2.5" than my flat stones but still usable with a good selection of profiles which are even down the length of each stone and matched between the two stones. Each stone has a rubber base that cushions it inside the wooden base which in turn has a rubbery base to help it grip the work bench. You can easy pull off the rubber base from the stones and use the backside which is flat if need a flat stone. They sit nicely in the wooden base and do not rock or slide around and so far are a pleasure to use.

QUALITY! GOOD DESIGN! VARIOUS OPTIONS! The Razorri Solido wood carving whetstone kit is perfect if you have wood carving knives. These stones give me several options for different curvatures of wood carving knives. What I saw right away as well is that if you flip the stone over the opposite side is flat. It is perfect for sharpening my pocket knives and straight edged knives as well. The 400 grit will work out any deficiencies and the 1000 grit will give you that sharper edge that you need. The only downside is that I wish this set came with a case. It would be nice to have a fitted case to keep the stones safe and intact from any type of damage that may occur. However, I will RECOMMEND this kit to anyone easily. Its well worth it if your into wood carving.

This is a great set of sharpening stones for a wide variety of our hand tools. We have had flat stones in the past but did not have anything specific for our round or triangular tools. This stone works for all of those purposes. The tools that I show in the photos are my own, they are not included with the whetstone set. I can sharpen both hand carving tools and lathe tools as well. Using the flat side, I can sharpen our straight blades. For the curved and other tools, I flip it over and use the appropriate groove. I especially like that they come with an open wood base, which has a non-slip bottom edge. The stone sets in it for ease of use. There are two stones. The 400 is coarser and works when you need a lot of grit to sharpen a very dull blade. The 1000 is finer and is good for normal touch up sharpening and polishing. For use, you need to soak the stones per the directions. To store afterwards, be sure to let the stones dry out completely.

This is a handy almost travel sized sharpening system. It can be used for carving tools or for knives. It comes with an aggressive 400 grit stone and a 1000 grit stone. The 400 works well for very dull tools. It can take a lot of metal off quickly. The 1000 grit can be used to fine toon and polish the blade. Once the blade is sharp it is best to just use the 1000 grit to keep it sharp on a regular basis. But, if you find that you have let things go, then the 400 grit can be used to quickly take off metal to get things back where they need to be. Also, if you use the 1000 grit on a regular basis, then it does not take long at all to put a new edge on the blade. The other side of the stones have ridges and grooves to sharpen cutting tools. You can preselect the tool you have or the angle you want and then run the tool in that groove. Pretty neat and handy. Each stone has a rubber holder to support it in the wooden base while sharpening. Like most sharpening stones they need to be soaked for around 10 minutes before use.

Great for my palm carving tools and other smaller chisels. This isn't as easy as the literature makes it out to be, but it's definitely much easier than using flat stones. The waterstones need a 10 minute soaking before use and I like to spray them down during use. The profiles there are good enough for most of the tools I use. It still requires care to keep the angle of the tool consistent while sharpening to maintain the proper bevel angle. The 400 grit works quickly to remove nicks, and the 1000 gets the edge sharp enough to take to a strop for a final polish. I'm going to get a lot of use out of these. The base is nice and doesn't slide around.

This is a great kit for those with carving tools and other woodworking hand tools. The 400 grit attacks the tools in dire need of repair and the 1000 grit hones them to a high polish sharpness. The stones are water stones so they need to be soaked in water before use. The bamboo base fits both stones and it has a non-slip base. Each stone has a rubber holder that protects the stone in the holder. The grooves on the top of the stones are designed to match various carving tool shapes. I believe that I will be sharpening some of my lathe tools. The bottom side of each stone is flat, so I will be able to sharpen chisels, lathe skews, and plane blades. Instructions come in 5 different languages.

The Razorri model Solido C3 is truly a professional 2-piece, 2 different grits (400 and 1000) double sided (contour cutting profiles on one side and flat cutting profile on the other side) waterstones with an anti-skid rubber based, bamboo framed stone holder. On one side of the waterstone, it has various preformed chisel cutting profiles (for curved, triangular, round, gouges and knives) which is ideal to sharpen all your specialty wood carving knives. The other side of each waterstone has a flat grit surface that can be used for sharpening any regular straight blade chisel, scissors or even kitchen knives. Each waterstone has 5 preformed inside cutting-edge profiles and 5 preformed outside cutting edge profiles. The 400 grit is to sharpen dull edge chisels whereas the 1000 grit is used to polish and fine-tune the chisel’s edge to make it razor sharp. To simply activate the waterstones for sharpening use, all you have to do is to soak the stones in regular water for about 15 minutes. There is no need to use any sharpening honing oil as regular water is the lubricant and additional water should be splashed on the waterstone occasionally during the sharpening process for peak cutting performance. When finished sharpening, simply wipe dry the waterstones and then let them air dry before putting them away. It is so important for personal safety to have sharp cutting chisels as you generally apply too much force to dull cutting tools and that is when accidents can occur. Plus, sharp chisels give you a clean and professional edge to your wood working projects! I am glad to have and use these sharpening stones. I fine-tune the cutting edges my wood cutting chisels on a periodic basis for peak performance.

This kit is a very functional sharpening stone kit. I won’t say it is the best you can buy, but for sharpening wood carving tools (especially curved and angled ones) this is a great little set to have. Ask any woodworker about sharpening and you will get as many opinions as people you ask, but one thing is for sure: sharpening round gouges and chisels is not fun nor easy. This kit alleviates some of these problems nicely. The 400 grit stone did a really nice job of repairing my chef’s knife and the 1000 grit stone put the finishing edge on it (entire process took less than 5 minutes). I tried to sharpen a wood chisel that needed a lot of touch up and that took MUCH longer but it did come out well; going to sharpen some plane irons in the near future. It comes with a bamboo holder for the stone you are using; this is a really nice addition, as in the past keeping my whetstone from moving was always problematic. By the way, you will still have to lean how to sharpen blades (LOTS of how to videos on the web) but this set will serve you well once you do. It does not come with a leather strop; this is the one thing I would recommend you get in addition to this set. If all you want to do is sharpen knives, there are other options that might be better, but if you have wood carving tools to sharpen, this is a nice kit.
