What if my existing opening is 9x9 (larger than template opening)?

Asked by PW79 October 17, 2020

Answer

Hello PW79, I see that you are installing the 80CFM Fan. The 110 needs an opening of 9 ½” x 9 ¾” so going up a size in the fan would be the simplest solution.

For how long the led light lasts

Asked by Milad September 30, 2020

Answer

There is no exact answer as to led life. Many manufacturers will say between 5 and 10 years. This however could be very different based on usage. For example it would last longer if used1 hour a day compared to a light on 10 hours a day. I have purchased 100's of led fixtures from home depot and only 1 has failed in the past 5 years

ReVent is a great option for a water closet in need of ventilation. It is always best to vent to the outside, however you are the best judge of your specific situation.

Can the fan and light be wired to one switch? Can it also be a dimmer?

Yes the light and fan can be wired together. But you would need to consult with a electrician on whether it would work as a dimming switch or not

Nice fan for the price
Customer review from homedepot.ca logo
The fan looks very nice and was easy to install. The light is bright and it is very quiet. The only thing is that I don't think it's strong enough for our bathroom which is 5' x 9'.

Nice up grade
After reviewing several other models available online and reading the comments, I decided to give the Revent 80 cfm a try, and I'm glad I did. I watched the install video before proceeding and everything came together as showed. The only issue I had was the 3" duct that was on the existing fan installed by the home builder, so I had to buy a 4" to 3" reducer that worked so that I would not have to replace the 3" ducting which was in the attic. The LED light is perfect for this area which the exhaust fan was installed, it's the same brightness as all of the other LED lights in bathroom. If the exhaust vent would have been the same I would say this was a perfect easy install. The instruction were very easy to follow.

It's nice and quiet. Some notes on installing it - I had a rigid exhaust pipe. I found it difficult to get the exhaust coupler attached to the fan body. I ended up putting a wire over the top of the exhaust couple so that I could pull down on it to get it fully seated and attached to the fan housing. I live in a cold climate so sealing up and insulating around the box was a concern. I think the tab system that secures the fan box to the drywall does a decent job of keeping the fan in place. There's plenty of room for the wire connections and to stow the wires. I really like the push connectors they provided for connecting the wires. The wiring was the simplest part of the install. It took me a couple of hours to install this fan. It's not like the video they show. If you have insulation up there that you care about, you won't be putting the entire fan up in the ceiling and sliding it over to the side. And if you have a rigid exhaust pipe like mine, you don't have much variance for connecting the pipe. Plan on drywall repair and plastering around the opening as well. Chances are, the opening you have won't be the same size. Overall it was a decent install process though and went about as well as I figured it would.

Easy to install but I had ripped the entire cieling out. But, I put another in another bathroom and the easy install kit worked great. Fan is super quiet but still moves a lot of air. No more moisture buildup in the bathroom. Moves so much air that it pulls air from the A/C ducting when the door is closed. Love it.

The brand name ReVent is a misnomer - this fan is better suited for new installations. I bought this bath vent fan and light as a replacement unit - not a new installation. I found the installation to be difficult and tedious and very time consuming (~ 4 hours after removing the old unit). The electrical connectors supplied do not work with the stranded wire on the unit, so I had to tin them before making the electrical connections. The area for the wire connections was too small and sort'a dicey and difficult when pushing the wires back in around the screw bracket for the closing screw (poor design). The trim ring that is necessary for the vent function to work would not fit in my installation so I ended up screwing it into place. Overall, a poorly designed unit makes this a poor choice for a replacement bath fan and light unit.

Overall a nice exhaust/light. I thought it could have been priced a little lower. Exhaust seemed louder than I was expecting but it was installed in a small 1/2 bathroom so that may have been a factor.

Mediocre for remodel. Terrible for new construction. Holes that are for locking bars down are never tapped and over sized (experienced on 3 different fans) the 3 bar mounting design almost requires two people to hang it.

This replaced an old, noisy vent that had an outside water leak. This is a very quiet, not overly modern looking, and bright fan/ light combo. We replaced the drywall for water damage so we didn't fully appreciate the easy install features, although this was straightforward and easy enough when replacing an existing fan. My only fear is that it isn't powerful enough. This is a tiny bathroom, but when i ran the shower, with the fan on, the mirrors fogged and remained fogged long after the shower was over. I had to crack the door to get enough air turnaround. That never happened with the bigger unit we had before, and it was rated 80cfm. So, it's a tradeoff. I thought 80cfm would be sufficient. It is very quiet though.
