what keeps it in place after a mouse/rat gets "stuck"? I'm sure they try to free themselves and could cause the trap to move a great ways from the original spot....

I don't know about mouse but these traps don't work at all! I placed the bait in middle of tray and next morning I found that the bait was eaten and rat wasn't there. I could clearly see the rat foot prints on glossy glue surface. She even pooped on it! I checked the glue with my glove and it is not very sticky. This trap from "Real Kill" company is just joke. If there would be zero star option I would rated like that.

And then you changed the product in the last year so that it resembles another trap from a cheaper vendor. The traps do not separate easily and are much lighter allowing almost any size mouse to drag them around my barn. I have found another source online and will stop buying these at Home Depot. BTW the picture on the website is of the old trap not the new one.

I was at my wits end on a small explosion of mice I had been seeing in my bird room. The mice were disrupting the parrots to steal their food and water. I bought the smaller 4 pack of glue traps they were not as effective as the larger glue trap. I did put a small drop of peanut butter on the trap and they could not resist! I caught 3-4 at a time in the traps these were the younger ones I was afraid I wouldn’t catch the older ones but I did! Caught 7 in all with these traps which I like since I think the glue is more sticky/tacky than some of the other glue traps. My spoiled cat would not attempt to catch anything. Thanks to Spectrum the traps did the job my cat would not do.

One day we heard a rat in the crawl space above the ceiling, an area of 1848 square feet. I set traps near the two access panels and I sealed all possible openings to the outside. Peanut butter was the bait. Several times bait was taken from each kind of trap without catching a rat but I simply re-baited and reset the traps. I wore disposable gloves every time I handled traps mindful of the dangerous hanta virus. After a couple weeks, all 9 rats were caught. Here is the final score based on trap type: 2 Victor Electronic Traps killed 5 rats. 4 Tomcat Plastic traps killed 3 rats. 1 Havahart live trap caught 1 rat. 4 Glue traps caught zero rats. Rat droppings contain the dangerous hanta viruses. To vacuum the droppings, I used a shop vac with 25% bleach solution in the bottom of the tank and I connected a long hose from the exhaust to the outside. After vacuuming, I used Clorox Cleanup spray to clean the hoses and the washable filter.

I bought and placed 3 packages in front of video camera under home. Was barely able to get bait to stick to this glue trap and rodents walked all over them for a week to eat bait.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this product...It does NOT work. Evidently I have the smartest rodent in the neighborhood...oh, no, its just that this product is no good. First night: just laid these out along the walls in the corners where I read they stick to. Noticed a little paw mark in the glue, but no mouse or rat. How was this possible?! Night two: thought I needed to get this rat to spend some time on the glue to stick so I baited these bad boys with some peanut butter in the middle and embedded little kernels of dog food in the glue. I was SURE this was gonna do the trick. But no, heard the rat scratching at something...came in and the glue board was moved, the peanut butter was scratched at and another little paw mark with peanut butter was on the edge of the glue. The only thing this successfully caught was my puppy's paw, which I had to use olive oil to remove the glue from her paw fur. Onto the traditional snap trap, over chasing this smart rat.

I placed two traps by my back fence where I have seen rats enter my property with my security cam. The next day I see a train of small foot prints on the surface of the glue. I have previously used Tom Cat traps with excellent success . They might work better for indoor usage. It is in the low 40s and 30s at night when rats are active. I believe the low temps effect the effectiveness of these traps.
