You can cut the height on these, but note that they also come with clips to help hold the shade up to the desired height.

        Answer This Question

Hello, here is are some instructions for cleaning the surface area and a list of what surfaces our shades can/can't go on: The shades should be mounted onto a clean, dry, flat, smooth surface. We recommend using some rubbing alcohol to wipe the surface area down before full shade placement. This will not only prime the area, but will also help remove any residue from previous window treatments. We do not recommend the shades to be placed on a wallpapered, freshly painted (within 30-90 days), high gloss, or textured surfaces. Drywall, bare, varnished, or lacquered wood surfaces are also not recommended for shades to be mounted.

Not what I expected. How do they stay all the way down? The included clips are way too light plastic to provide any weight.

Bill, you can lightly dust and/or vacuum with upholstery attachment. - Since they are paper shades, any contact with water will ruin the shade.

Are they easily removable? do they leave any stick residue?
                  ByFeb 3, 2026
                  1 Answer |
                  Answer This Question

To remove our Original shades: Gather the shade together so the pleats are condensed at the top of the window. Starting at one end, gently begin to pull the shade away from the window frame. The top of the shade should begin to separate from the window frame. Continue doing this until the shade has released from the window frame. These steps will help prevent the shade from leaving a sticky residue.

This actually works quite well if you are careful to measure and cut for a perfect fit. I recommend putting it behind an existing set of normal blinds. It’s not much of a hassle to clip into place each morning and it stores nicely out of sight when they are up. Great for the price and you don’t have to mess with the look of normal blackout curtains.

Placed this behind our son’s regular blinds to keep the insane bugs in Maine away from his window at night, that has a window A/C. No matter how much you foam and tape around a window unit, bugs will find a way, but this definitely has helped keep them from being so attracted to his light in the evening.

You get what you pay for
This is a cheap option to black out blinds without having to do any real install. We already have window blinds but they are the segmented ones that let through light no matter how closed they are. We were having issues with waking up too early in the morning or not being able to sleep in after long nights. These paper blinds worked great, I simply just adhered them to the bottom of our current blinds. Now we can pull them up to black out or bring it down to expose our usual blinds for when having guests. These are paper so they can get easily folded and damaged so you have to be a little careful bringing them down. We don’t expect to bring them down often but I feel like it would be annoying process if done daily. See the photo for the setup it’s super easy. Pro tip, make sure the outside of the first fold points towards the window to prevent making a gap to let sunshine through. You can rip these off and redo it quickly and the adhesive still works, but only if you do it within a few moments of messing up. Easy to cut with scissors. Would have liked a higher quality made of felt but for the price you can’t really beat it.

This is a decent product at an affordable price. We wanted something inexpensive to black out windows for a room we don't use to avoid it getting too hot. These were easy to "install" and work pretty well. The last one we bought had a couple holes in it but that doesn't really affect much other than appearance (and it doesn't look great in general so not sure that matters). The first two we got have held up well. Make sure to clean the surface really well before applying the adhesive though.

                      Worth it!
Wow, great for the price. Yes, the sticky tape could be better but mine have been up for a week now. If they fail, I'll just use painters tape to hold them up.

0 stars. What a hunk of crap. I get it's cheap but id have rather saved the 30 bucks buying for my bedroom window and put it toward anything else. Whoever designed this deserves the opposite of a pat on the back

I bought these several years ago as a temporary thing , I still keep on my windows .. it's an inexpensive way of covering your windows and it looks great ! No hardware needed , no hammers , or nails .. I have two white ones on my living room windows with some white sheer curtains , works for me and it looks really nice ! They come with small clips to adjust the shade .. The shades also come in Gray .. I bought these black ones for my indoor porch windows because I live in Florida and the Sun is very hot coming through my windows .. after putting the shades up the heat from the Sun is reduced by 80 90% and the shades totally block out the sunlight , which is what exactly I was looking for .. I didn't even have to trim them , they were exact fit .. the only negative part of the shades is they don't always stick properly so they may fall down .. so what I did was add some spots of caulking along the seam where you peel the strip to adhere to the surface .. that works really well and they haven't fallen down .. you can also use velcro at the seams as well to adhere to the surface, that works well too .. overall I'm happy with the shades it's a great idea, I'm glad they came out with this product fabulous !

So easy to place on your window. It takes no time to put up ,and easy to cut to size. It really keeps out the light, great in our bedroom. When it doesn’t look good anymore it is easy to change out for another. The cost is under $7.00 a piece. Much less than custom blinds. The material is pretty thick so should last for awhile.
