These are kiln dried and have no chemicals as far as I am aware. Cedar normally doesn't need it due to its natural resistance to rot and decay.
How many planks are in a bunk?

Staining or painting will help make these last longer, but cedar is resistant to rot and insects and will last longer than other types of wood, however, I personally stain anything wood outside to help protect it.
