Light in weight, elegantly simple rack, with a fatal flaw...
Light in weight, elegantly simple rack, with a fatal flaw -- for my car. The bike tires end up 4 inches below the hitch receiver. That is, with my car, the hitch is 9" above the ground, and the bike tires are 5" above the ground. That's just too low.The rack was redesigned at some point. A friend has an earlier version, with the option of a "riser shank." Doesn't work with the new version. To Home Depot's credit, they took it back. One solution would be for the manufacturer to lengthen the arms of the rack, and at a slightly smaller angle. This way, the bike tires would have enough ground clearance.
The Elevate Outdoor Bike Storage Rack (formerlyThe Elevate Outdoor Bike Storage Rack (formerly Apex) is easy to use, compact, and fits a wide range of bike tires from road bikes to mountain bikes. Simply fold up the arm, tilt the front cradle, and roll your bike into place. The rubber feet help keep the storage rack in place while preventing floor scratches. When not in use, simply fold the arm down and stow away.View Full Product Description
