This thing is solid and long lasting. The chrome gives it a nice look. I carry it on my vehicle all the time. I have a 2015 Honda Pilot 4WD and it fits perfectly. The ring makes it easier to tie pretty much anything to it. You can pull other vehicles, items or even your own vehicle out of the hole. It also acts as extra protection for your rear bumper.

Solid ring - good for multiple uses
Finally got one of these for my truck, more for the security of knowing I can help others as well as be helped in a jam, and for light pulling around the house (like dead shrubs). Out of the box the ring is much bigger and beefier than expected. Very solid feel to it. Note that you will need to supply a hitch pin, only about $3, but something to be aware of. For such a minimal additional cost it would be nice if this was included, but not a big deal. Ring fits securely in the receiver and swings in every direction. Can easily tow a car or SUV short distances. I used it to pull a dead shrub from my flowerbed. I would not however attempt to pull anything too anchored in as you run the risk of the line snapping and whipping back at your car or truck. Very happy to have this in my trunk along with a set of tow straps just in case the need arises.

Not limited to recovery.
This Reese recovery ring is an all purpose tool for me and comes in very handy.I have a class IV hitch on my Ram and have been using it for all kinds of work around the house like pulling up old stumps left by the previous owner and moving brush piles to chip.It is easy to use and I keep it stored in the truck so I don't have to go looking for it when needed which seems to be often. With newer vehicles its hard to find a spot to hook up a chain or tow rope, This is perfect and I don't have to worry about damaging my truck.

Strong Ring
I have only had this ring a week or so. So I have not used it to recover a vehicle ! Thank goodness ! But I have used it for another job. Our driveway is 900 feet long and am lining it with Railroad cross ties ! I put in the receiver on my 4 wheeler and use a 1 inch rope to tow the ties into place. The welding and construction of this Reese ring is great !! Another fine product from Reese every 4x4 person should have in their tool box.(see photos)

Heavy Duty Pulling
The assembly comes with a cautionary label wrapped around the square tube which inserts into the vehicle receiver. Fortunately, the label is easily removed without damaging the finish of the tube, though with frequent use, the finish will certainly succomb to movement relative to the receiver, no matter how slight. The ring comes ready to use, except for the required hitch pin and clip and the ring is permanently attached, no issues of loosening hardware causing a loss of the ring out in the boondocks! The lack of the pin and clip is the only reason it is not given a 5 star rating. Since, if a substandard pin is used, not capable of the 10,000 pound rating of the recovery ring, something (the pin) will be the weak link. It is recommended that a solid pin of the correct rating be used. The large size of the ring permits the use of very large hooks (if still using chains) or looping the end of an elastic recovery strap through the ring. This ring is a substantial piece of steel and if one were to leave it in place during normal vehicle use, without anything connected to the ring, chances are it will bounce around and perhaps leave its mark on your bumper or other part of the vehicle. The ring's weld joint was nicely ground down prior to plating, eliminating any rough edges which could abrade a tow strap or synthetic rope. A good addition to your vehicle if you venture into areas where you may need to be extricated from. Just make sure you buy a quality hitch pin!

handy assesory
What a good idea this is If your in a situation where you need something easy to hook onto this is the piece to have. It fit into the receiver just fine the loop is plenty rugged wether your pulling somebody or if your trying to get yourself out of a bind. I am keeping this under my seat for those emergencies. This is put together well and don't take up much space.

Strong Flexible Tow Ring
I pull equipment as well as stumps and landscape materials around my property and was looking for a more secure attachment to my truck. This tow ring works quite well. it fits snugly in my hitch socket and secures with a locking pin (not included). It moves in a full 365 degree rotation in almost all directions. This makes it easier to pull things on an angle due to flexibility. I appears sturdy and well constructed. It is rated up to 10,000 lbs. I did not pull anything near that heavy but it seems well built enough to handle that weight. It is a handy tow ring to have around the home.

Great Accessory
Though described as vehicle recovery ring, found that the ring can be use to pull large branches out with my Jeep to safer area for sawing by connecting the branches to the ring and tow ropes when recent storms downed large limbs from trees. Ball and hitch would worked as well, tying the rope to the safety chain links on the hitch but the ring was much easier to use and connected the rope more securely. Worked well pulling my classic vehicle out of garage which is located downwards on the driveway, so have to pull vehicle uphill. Ring is much safer. Highly recommend.

An easy hook addition to your receiver hitch
For me this is a great addition to my truck. It gives an easy way to add a ring to the back of my truck where I don't have a tow hook. It is rated at 10,000 lbs in any direction. The ring swivels easily when not under load. Do note that a hitch pin is not included, so you'll need to provide your own. As a general note, if you do use a tow strap for any kind of vehicle recovery, be sure you know how to use it safely. A tow strap under tension that slips loose will fly back with great force like a slingshot. If you happen to have a metal hook on the end of that strap, it will be just like firing a canon at whatever is in the path of that hook. So make sure you know how to safely attach and use that strap before you need it in the middle of nowhere.
