I been using HD because their prices are better or just about the best lowest than even the auto stores along with the convenience of store pickup is great that eliminates any shipping charges ..
. I been using my ball hitch to pull things but getting this is the proper way and the load strength can't be beat ... as others stated solid bar with big shackle... HD price of $30 is essentially lowest found ,, other places are as high as $10 or more

This thing is a beast - best one I have ever seen. Simple design and looks super strong. That's a 7/8" galvanized shackle on there and a solid piece of steel for the hitch insert. Rating says 8,000 lbs but the product says 10,000lbs on it... the weak point would probably be the 5/8" hitch pin in your tow hitch (if you have a class iv or higher), which you could replace with a long enough grade 8 bolt so that there are no threads in there, but I doubt anyone would need that much strength...

I have not used it yet, but it is solid and sturdy. The shackle is 7/8. I previously bought and returned the Superwinch version of this. It was $10 more and the shackle was only 3/4 (plus the HD description was incorrect that it comes with 2 shackles).
