Not sure, I used it to insulate my garage door from the heat caused by the direct sun the door gets in the summer afternoon. It really worked well and was not too heavy for the door. It was easy to install and is practically weightless compared to the other types of insulation offered to do garage doors.

i have a screened room with a tin roof. will this work putting it from the inside roof to keep room cooler

Asked by: customer
it may, if you apply it to the bottom of the roof trusses and have something like ridge venting to get the trapped hot air out. Don't think it would be real effective if you just form unvented hot-boxes.

Customer Reviews

24 in. x 100 ft. Single Reflective Insulation Roll is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product is working satisfactory under the extreme conditions. After figuring dimensions of the garage door, it was easy to layout and cut the material to size for the install which took some thought on what type of 2 sided tape to use since being in the phoenix area the sun in the west beats directly on the door and it gets HOT. Most tapes I reviewed didn't list temperature ratings. So I went with a 1.5" wide carpet tape that was rated to 200 degrees. And I used about 9 50yd rolls which was probably overkill but I don't want it falling off in a week. I did a 17' x 7' door and had some material left. What surprised me when I looked at the instructions for this material was that it didn't show it being used for my app. It was showed as a utility type wall and ceiling app. But it works. And it dropped the temp. in the garage down about 5 to 10 degrees which is a lot in Arizona. When gauging the product's efficiency you have to take into consideration that putting a hot car in the garage is going to release heat as it cools so maybe a small vent fan is another project to deal with hot climates.

Easy to work with, easy to cut to size and easy to install. Since it's a workshop/shed, this will work great for those cold TX days and warm TX summers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! I am amazed at how well this stuff insulates!! I used it in a garage and it has made a HUGE difference in temp. and allows the A/C to keep up even when it's 90* outside. Before insulation, it would get hot enough in the space to literally melt plastic! But now even with NO A/C running it hasn't gotten above 80*. It was very easy to install with a staple gun and a pair of scissors and the 2' width fit perfectly between the roof rafters. Easy to cut around the light fixtures and garage door rails. And it looks great! Really brightens up the space. Will be adding white duct tape to cover the seams. I already did that on 2 of the seams and it works really well, just haven't had a chance to get back up there and finish it. I plan to get more when the S.E. Indiana Barn Hunt Club moves to their new building to insulate that place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for purpose This reflective insulation is the perfect material for the purpose of lining a metal outbuilding I am converting into a woodworking shop. It is the first layer of a multilayer insulation solution. I was able to easily cut and fit this between the studs and simply staple it in place. It will be followed with a layer of paper faced fiberglass insulation and enclosed with drywall. This first layer will turn back the heat radiated by the metal when the sun hits it. After installation, I noticed a significant difference in the temperature from touching the metal surface to touching the inside of this insulation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective and easy to work with My basement has a stone foundation that is drafty and constantly sheds sand from the old mortar. It's not worth finishing properly but I wanted to make it useable for a workshop without investing too much time or money. The reflective insulation works perfectly for this, it was cheap and easy to hang up. The basement is noticeably warmer and less damp feeling now and the white outer surface dramatically brightened it up. I have no complaints about this stuff, it's light and easy to work but is tough enough to not accidentally rip.

I installed Reflectix White Single Reflective Insulation on the wall studs of my roll-off roof observatory. The intent is to reduce heat intrusion and prevent the observatory from getting hot enough to damage equipment. I also installed Reflectix radiant barrier under the metal roof. It, along with a small gable-end exhaust fan, has successfully kept observatory temperatures below 100 degrees. The building had been an oven, 120 degrees or more, before installing radiant barrier and I had to keep equipment in my house. I used to feel the heat radiating from walls and roof. No more. Great stuff!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from USED AS A CEILING I used this as a ceiling in our daughter's basement. There were too many sprinkler heads, pipes and ductwork to use a dropped type ceiling. I had a friend helping me and neither of us had worked with anything like this material before. We stapled it to the bottom of the floor joist about every 6 inches keeping it tight as we went. It looks nice. The only problems were that 2 of the rolls had splices in them and some of the rolls had some of the "bubbles" that were flat. But this material was listed as insulation so if I'd be rating it as such, I'd give it a 5.
