Problem sticking to textured surfaces
Tape was wide enough for application and stuck well, at least initially. 14 days later the edges started lifting off. It probably works better on smooth surfaces, or when you can wrap it completely around item, e.g. drain pipe

This tape is a thick, heavy smooth rubber with a very thick, super sticky adhesive. While this tape does appear to be useful for many situations as a short term fix, after testing it, I will probably not rely on it as a long term or permanent solution. I recently added a 1/4" drip line to a small outdoor potted plant and needed to hold the drip line in place and tuck it out of the way. I couldn't think of a conventional way to position and hold the drip line where I wanted, but then I thought of this tape. To my surprise, the tape worked very well. I cut off a few inches of it and stuck it to the side of the pot, holding the 1/4" line in place and hiding it nicely. However, due to some tension / bend in the 1/4" line, there was some pull / tension on the PermaFix tape. Over a few days, the drip line pulled half of the PermaFix tape off. I see that the adhesive didn't seem to adhere to the textured surface of the pot, so in the future I need to make sure that the tape makes better contact. The second issue appears to be that the adhesive is so thick that it can be stretched to the point of failing. Some adhesive was still stuck to the pot, and there was still adhesive on the tape, but the tape had slowly been pulled away, stretching the adhesive until the tape peeled off. I assume that heat may soften the adhesive, and in the last week we had a few days over 100 degrees. I was able to push the tape back on, and it seems to re-adhere fine. But in this particular application, I found that the tape has some limitations. In situations where you are putting the tape on a smooth object, or can wrap the tape entirely around an object, like a garden hose, or patching something that will not put pressure or tension on the tape, I think it would work well. One thing I would like to try with this is patching pool floats and rafts. If I can ever find the pinholes in the rafts, I think this tape would be great for fixing them, even if it only held for a day or two. I think it's a good product to have around for situations where you need a quick patch or an emergency fix.

I got a roll of PERMAFIX 5ft x 4in professional strength rubberized tape as an emergency solution in my toolbox. The tape comes on a cardboard roll and the tape has a paper backing which you remove when you apply. I found a razor knife was easier to cut with than sissors, because of the extreme stickiness of the tape. My first use of this great product was used as a flashing around a new wall light fixture I recently put up. I highly recommend this product with a multitude of uses.

This tape, 4” wide, is designed to repair a leaky pipe, hose or other item that’s leaks or has come apart. It’s rubber and stretches a bit, helping it to conform to a curved or irregular surface. I applied it to a vacuum hose that had separated near the nozzle where it got a lot of twisting. First I cleaned off the hose with alcohol, then dried it. Then I cut enough tape to wrap twice around the hose at the separated joint. I removed the backing paper from the sticky side of the tape, and laid the tape, sticky side up, on the floor. Then I rolled the hose carefully on the sticky tape on the floor. Then I squeezed the PermaFix tape tight around the vacuum hose, especially the irregularities. The hose now works again, though the black rubber of the Permafix tape has separated about 1/4” from the sticky substance which is nearly a clear color, leaving a sticky ring around the hose, and perhaps eventually allowing the hose to come apart again. I hope that the repair is permanent. I used the PermaFix Repair tape also on a garden soaker hose that was leaking and spraying at one point, perhaps from having been hit by a snow shovel in the winter. I dried the soaker hose in the sun, and then wrapped the sticky tape twice around the point where the leak had occurred and squeezed it tight on the soaker hose. The leak was stopped where it had been, but water spurted out at the edge of the Permafix tape. Perhaps the soaker hose with its textured surface is too grainy for the tape to adhere completely and stop a leak. This repair tape works best on a smooth surface where I believe it can stop a low pressure leak.
