What is included with this generator panel?

      Answer This Question

Note one thing never mention. It comes with 4 15amp CB and 2 20amp. Some newer houses' main panel only use 20amp CB for lowest voltages. The question should be can I replace the 4-15amp included for 20amp CB.

Are the ten circuits wired back into the main panel? or rather from the main?

          Answer This Question

Hello Stephan, the Circuit wires are ran to the Main Panel or a sub-panel and basically interrupt the circuit you are connecting too. Both red and black for each breaker you decide to have on the transfer switch. https://reliancecontrols.com/video-tutorials

Can I wire a Solar Inverter like an EG4 6000xp Off-grid Inverter to the "LINE" input of the transfer switch?
            ByOct 6, 2024
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Hello, The LINE side is power that is coming from your main panel. You would connect the EG4 to the Transfer Switch input inlet. Please call Reliance Controls to discuss other options.

For the R510A model, with a 50A inlet, TT-30 to CS6364 adapter, and replacing all breakers to be single pole, could I use a 4kw 120v generator to power the 10-120v circuits? My current generator doesn't do 240, but I'm planning for a future 9kw generator.

Summarized by generative AI from text of customer reviews

Customers say the Reliance 10 Circuit Transfer Switch is a well-built and easy-to-install product that provides a reliable solution for managing power during outages. Many users appreciated the clear instructions and helpful installation videos, which made the process straightforward, even for those with limited electrical experience. The switch's ability to handle multiple circuits and its built-in watt meters for load balancing were frequently highlighted as standout features. However, some customers noted that the wire lengths could be longer, and the included generator cord was shorter than desired, which required additional purchases for optimal setup.

High Quality product, easy to install
The quality and price point for this transfer switch is awesome. The shipping from Home Depot was fast. The directions and online videos make installation easy, even for a DIYer. I tied this into my 100 amp sub-panel for my generator. Highly recommend.

                      Amazingly Simple to Install
Perfect solution to generator power without having to run extension cords. Transfer switch was extremely easy to install myself, watched a couple youtube videos and read the instructions. The feature I liked most were the knockouts on the rear of the transfer switch, they allowed me to run the wires behind the drywall to two separate panel boxes and gave a very clean professional look. Total install time was about 1 hour.

Switch build quality is good and the wiring loop supplied was ample long enough as I could mount the unit adjacent to the main distribution panel. Remounted the supplied 30 amp socket onto front panel as needed the unit up and running as soon as possible.

Well Designed & Install Manual Transfer Switch
This is the second manual transfer switch that I have installed. The first was a previous generation Reliance Controls, 10 Circuit, 30amp unit (Model 31410CRK). I feel that this unit offers a better design using standard GE single pole circuit breakers versus the Reliance Controls "push to reset" style circuit breakers used in the previous generation. I found the available installation videos very helpful to plan the installation which I did in two phases. I first mounted the transfer switch and wired into my load center which required about 3 hours to complete. I used some painters tape to label the circuits in my load center which are wired into transfer switch and made a key sheet on the transfer switch cover door to clearly identify the circuits backed up. The second phase was to run the 10-3 Romex from the transfer switch to the power inlet box. Unfortunately, we have experienced many power disruptions due to both weather storms and poor grid maintenance by our utility company. We have found this transfer switch very easy to use during the power outages.

                          Wiring incorrectly lettered
Overall the tranfer switch is good and works as intended. However I must have recieved the switch wired by a person who skipped alphabet day in school. Two of my black circut runs were labled with a “D”. There should have been a “C”. Better quality control wherever these are manufactured would be a great start.

Excellent transfer switch. Relatively easy to install if you have electrical experience, weekend warriors should consult an electrician. I’ve run several load tests since installing and both generator and transfer switch have worked flawlessly.

Working to keep me out of the dark...
I got this for my home to pair with an inverter/generator that I purchased for power outages. I installed this switch two years ago and finally got a chance to put it to the test yesterday, Happy Valentines 2021! The switch is very nicely designed and well made. All of the wiring and instructions are clear as to what and where to connect things into the main breaker box and circuits and all the needed wire nuts are included. It took me about 45mins to run the lines into the main breaker and connect it all up. I live in an older home, built in the 1930's, and the breaker box is in the basement utility room. A couple of concrete screws later, it was parked up against the breaker box and wired in. This took about 10mins to bolt it to the wall. The rest of the effort was wiring out the connector and outlet to the side of the house which was a several hour project. All in all, made it nice and easy for a clean installation. I ended up using the 220v circuits and splitting the breaker to make them into two 120v circuits. Since we have gas heat and water, I figured we could live without the kitchen electric stove, only 220v circuit, and put two other circuits onto power back up.

Well Appointed Kit for the Savvy & Brave Homeowner
Happy I could do this installation myself. But only because of the super-helpful videos on YouTube produced by Reliance AND the excellent reviews of this product and their pictures posted here on the Home Depot website. As you will see in my pictures, I'm adding this transfer switch to a house built in 1979 and the breaker panel was a mess! I first had to map the breakers so I understood which ones I wanted to transfer. The instructions that come with this very well appointed kit help you determine how to assign the fuses/breakers so that the load is balanced (but I also used an excel spreadsheet). A run to the internet to look up wattages of household items also helped. I knew I wanted the well pump, refrigerator, kitchen outlets and a couple bedroom outlets at the minimum to be powered by my 5500W portable Generac generator. But if you have a gas furnace or water heater, I'd add those breakers as well (mine is a heat pump). I've installed outdoor lamps, fixed indoor lamps and installed ceiling fans, so I know my way around the breaker panel and electricity basics. As stated, these reviews and the Reliance videos gave me the confidence I needed to work inside the panel. Working the 10/3 Romex cable I used from the generator outdoor receptacle to the transfer switch was a pain inside the plastic conduit but that outdoor receptacle is SOOO convenient. I've used the setup a couple times now due to power outages and works like a charm - I love it!

This is an excellent, extremely well built transfer switch that is easy to install if you are an advanced DIY’er. Due to the configuration of my power panel, it would have been nice if the leads to the breakers were 12 inches longer. I needed to add extension leads to 4 wires to reach the top breakers on my panel.
