Questions & Answers

Does the 14 or 16" saws have dogs (teeth) at may also be called a spiked buMeer to help grip the log being cut?

Asked by: Jj
Unfortunately, my chainsaw was stolen before I had an opportunity to use it, but I will get another after my insurance company pays me for the loss. My only disappointment at reordering at this time is it doesn't seem you carry them any longer. If you are planning to carry them, can I still get one with the protective case? Please let me know.

The saw is right around 14 pounds, closer to 15 with chain oil and gas. I use this saw, great little tool for the average user.

I use the 40: to 1 tru-fuel, that's what the specs sheet says to use. I don't believe it will hurt it, its just a little more oil so it might smoke a little.

Little cumberson taking off the side plate to take off chain and reinstall side plate. Also the chain that was on the saw cut very well. However I bought with saw an extra Remington chain. The chain dulled very quickly after three cuts.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Basically junk. I reckon the worst thing I read in the reviews was regarding the weight. But, sin... Basically junk. I reckon the worst thing I read in the reviews was regarding the weight. But, since it's 42cc I figured, hey, extra engine, more weight, probably more power. Right? NYET!! Thing bogs down with minimal pressure and I ain't been cuttin' mahogany or oak. Simple pines and firs. Mind you, I've only used it twice for, perhaps, a total of 20 minutes. Because when I went to tighten the chain, the adjusting screw turned as though it was stripped. You could hear the gears clicking but nothing moved. Then it quit turning altogether. I had purchased a warranty from The Home Depot, figuring (gotta stop doing that with retail endeavors) I MIGHT get better results than with MTD. NYET!! THD warranty doesn't kick in until manufacturer warranty expires next year (which, in my conversations, or lack thereof, with MTD, may be something to consider)! One of those fine print things. Anyway, save your money! Get a Stihl. An Echo even. Geez, I had a Poulan that was better than this......thing. Good luck!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good entry level chainsaw Good quality for an entry-level saw. Good for limbing and trees up to about 10 inches - after that, not much power. Not a top-of-the-line product but pleased with the saw and low price. If you are planning to use a chainsaw everyday then there are better saws and their higher cost would be worth the price in getting a more powerful saw and longer-life. Overall, good saw for occasional cutting or for those who are patient in cutting. I'm 60 years old and mainly needed it for clean-up after storms.
