AnswerHello - The length of the cord depends on the gauge of the extension cord. 16 gauge cord has a max of 50 ft. before you start to damage the electric motor by the loss of current in the cord. 14 gauge has a max of 100 ft., and 12 gauge has a max of 150 ft. before damage could occur. Overall it's an excellent mower. It pushes and turns easily, and cuts very nicely. Very easy to change the height adjustment. The only thing I don't like are the brackets that secure (sort of) the upper handle to the lower handle. First of all, the instructions about this, and the photo, are inadequate because it's easy to assemble the handles two different wrong ways and there is only 1 right way. Second, even if you get it right, it's still kind of loose and it's easy for the handle to become disconnected! That happened to me as I was cutting beside the wall of the house, the handle bumped the wall and became UNSCREWED.

Generally well impressed with design, construction and performance BUT the wheel mounting system is trash. The inboard end of the wheel has a small hole that fits the shaft and holds alignment properly, but the outer end alignment relies on parts so flimsy that by the end of my second mowing three of the four fell apart and the wheels wobble terribly.

This is an average electric mower at an average price. The mechanism for raising and lowering all four wheels at once is much stiffer than the last two electric mowers that I've had. When it arrived it had two of the wheels catty corner to each other that were out of alignment so bad that they wobbled side to side so much the deck would drag the ground and stop the mower. The wheels had two axle hub alignment mount, one on the inside of the wheel and the other on the outside of the wheel. In both cases the hub mount on the inside of the wheel had the tabs broken off of it which caused the wheel to be put on out of alignment. I took the hub mount on the outside of the axle and exchanged it for the inside mount and put it back together. That fixed the wheel wobble in both cases. This mower cuts grass just as well as any of the other electric mowers I've had.

When I pulled it out of the box, it looked like someone took a sledge hammer to the right front tire and the left rear tire. The bolt that holds the tires was smashed through the plastic wheel covers. I immediately took the mower back to the nearest Home Depot. When you buy something brand new, you expect it to be fully operational.

out of the box, simple to assemble, easy enough to figure out without directions.. handles go on smoothly, great height adjustment for tall people. plug and mow. mowed some over grown grass and it does a great job, I did not put the side discharge on, left it to mulch, does not bog down or clog up. nice attachment holder on handle for cord to rest it. tires adjust in height, the handle and push button start and simple and when you let go it stops in its tracks. this is perfect for around the house and buildings where a rider does not fit. would be a breeze to mow a acre or less yard.

I purchased this a few weeks ago for our new house that has 1/4 acre lot. I used it for the first time today, and it works great. The setup took all of about 20 minutes including reading directions. Power seems good, and it's very quiet and easy to maneuver. If you want something without all the bells and whistles, but works great, I highly recommend this mower.

Mower arrived by UPS, received email from UPS, went to store 2 hours later item is not ready. Got home found that it had been dropped, had to call MTD to get replacement wheel bushings, MTD was great HD not so much.
