Does anyone have an idea how much this weighs?
Asked by: Paul
Answering my own question! The shipping weight is 89lb in a pretty substantial box, so take a couple of pounds off. This is light enough that I think most adults (or teens, if you can convince them) could use it.

Could you easily use this on a gravel driveway?

Asked by: Dsol
I wouldn't. The blades are rubber-edged and made to clean paved surfaces. It would probably eat a load of gravel.

Manual start problems

My Remington RM2120 snow blower was just delivered yesterday. It starts right up using the electric start but will not start by priming and then manually pulling the rope. Has anyone else had this problem? This my first time purchasing a snow blower so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Asked by: Tamara
There are two positions on the choke and I found that it was hard to tell which one I was setting (can't really see it), so make sure that you get it all the way to the right before priming and pulling.

how many inches of snow (wet vs. powder) have users successfully moved with this unit?

Asked by: swampgas
We got our first real snowfall yesterday and it's still falling. Mid afternoon yesterday with about 3" of wet snow I used the blower on our driveway and it worked like a champ. It threw the snow/slush a good distance. It had a bit more of a strain while clearing the pile of very thick heavy snow pushed into the end of our driveway by the highway department plow, but it did the job. I just had to take my time and not try to force it to clear that stuff too fast. It snowed overnight so this morning I went and cleared out the end of driveway snow again. There was more this time, but this blower cleared it pretty easily.

Today is January 4th and the east coast is getting hit with its first snow storm. Today we test the new Remington RM2120 snow blower. Delivered to my house in a box, place two bolts in handle bar and three in snow shut took about ten minutes. With the Powermore 123cc overhead valve (OHV) engine this unit has power. It starts with the push of a button, the 21 in. intake of this snow blower is perfect for medium snowfalls 6" to 12". Use the E-Z Chute rotation to throw snow wherever you want, while auger-assisted driving leaves a clean path behind you. Equipped with 7 in. Deluxe Diamond tires and a high quality polymer chute, expect to get the job done efficiently. Remington offers a 2-year warranty on this product. I cleaned both my house and my neighbors house in less then two hours. Throws snow up to 30 ft and comes with 2-year limited warranty.

This is a great tool for my area (Cincinnati) where we don't get a lot of snow in a year, but when we do it is often heavy and hard to move. As you can see in the video, I don't have a lot of area to do, but since my neighbors don't have blowers (and since I'm from Maine), I like to help get the sidewalks clear on my street. Generally, we get a few inches of wet snow and then get some cold weather for a few days, so moving it right away is the best way to maintain safety, especially for the mature, dog-walker set on the street. This unit is fairly small, but it has decent power and will sweep the pavement fairly clean with its rubber-edged blades. The chute is manual adjust, but that isn't a real minus since adjusters are problematic even on the better brands. It is not self-propelled per se, but the blades do pull it forward while running. It has a plug-in electric start, which is great for us old guys with torn rotator cuffs, etc. I don't recommend it for heavy work, but it is a real backsaver if you get two or three moderate snow storms per year.

I had to wait for a snow fall to test it. The unit was very easy to assemble. Attached the blower chute with three screws; the handle just snapped in place; the pull handle cord had to be looped into an eye-bolt on the push handle. I also had to pour the oil into crankcase fill port ( a 20 oz. fill pouch 5w/30). I added gasoline; primed the carburetor; plunged in an electric start cord (not provided); pressed the start button; and it started; A little smoke, which is to be expected. I opened up the choke as it warmed up. I ran it up and down the side-walk. It done a great job. I really like that it is a 4-stroke engine. Not nearly the exhaust smoke of a two-cycle. It's a good value, and I would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The unit was delivered boxed via Yellow freight 18-wheeler. Friendly driver, great service and delivered on time as promised within the window of time given by the person the day before calling me to set up the delivery. The Remington unit requires some installation. This the season for snowfall and this medium sized blower fits a lot nicer in my garage over winter and does an awesome job for its size. I am getting up there in years and shoveling by hand although I’ve thought of as a great exercise is getting much harder to do. This 123cc Single-Stage gas operated snow blower makes it easier and fun as well. This Remington brand snow blower also has a 2-year warranty which only sweetens the deal. We here in the northeastern part of the states have been experiencing severe cold temperatures but little amounts of snowfall so far, this season hence the reason I was holding off to review this Remington snow blower. But this morning January 4th it has snowed enough to break out this snow blower which made the job of clearing my property and the elderly neighbor next door quite easy and fun. Three to five primer pushes and 3 pulls to start. The temperature was 20 degrees so understandable. The unit throws the snow in any direction I choose and clears my walkways in no time flat. Very handy unit and not extremely large so it takes up less space over winter in my garage which is limited. So far love the unit. This was not a huge snowfall and the snow was light. I am looking forward to seeing how it will perform in heavier snowfall. I am sure it will perform as described. Nice unit Remington. I am very satisfied and looking forward to using this snow blower again...Two thumbs up!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remington. The first name you think of when you think of snow blowers! Well, maybe not, but this ... Remington. The first name you think of when you think of snow blowers! Well, maybe not, but this one is worth a look. It's made by MTD which makes equipment for many if not most labels of snow blowers, lawn mowers, lawn tractors, etc. You probably own at least one MTD machine. Setting this up was a piece of cake. It's very intuitive and I could easily have done it without the manual, but the manual has a lot of other important information, so hang on to it. The machine even came with it's first fill of oil, in a separate pouch. The snow blower seems to be quite solidly made, and the controls are very conveniently placed. I first tried to pull start the blower, but didn't have immediate success. Another reviewer mentioned that he had to prime it quite a few more pumps than the manual suggested, so that probably would have helped, getting the first fuel through the fuel line. The electric start worked perfectly and the blower started immediately. I shut it down, then tried a pull start and this time it started easily. BTW-- there is no off switch on the blower and when you release the auger bail and stop the auger, the machine keeps running.Instead, you must pull out the red safety lock key to turn the engine off. I think this is a bit inconvenient and is the only reason I down graded features and ease of use to a 4. I know from experience with previous snow blowers how easy it is to lose this key in a flash. The machine comes with a spare, but I still don't like this feature. To prevent loss of the key I drilled a hole in the handle of the key and attached the key to the machine with a "chain" of two nylon zip ties, leaving enough slack for the key to reach the keyhole. Now it's not going anywhere. See the picture below. Unfortunately I can't comment on how well this performs in snow since as of today we haven't had a significant snowfall here in Maryland. Based on experience with a comparable machine I would expect it to do a fine job on snow up to a foot deep, less if it's really dense wet snow. I'll see if I can update the review if we do get significant snow.
