Solar Panel installed facing south like a window pane. Virtually everyone installs solar panels on the roof to squeeze out every last bit of electricity, but I do it differently. Perhaps this will start a trend! This panel was installed on the Pump House to power LED lights and a water pump. See the photo. It is like a window on the building and is certainly more aesthetic than if the panel were on the roof. Maintenance is virtually zero, as it will not be impacted by snow and ice. Excess heat produced by the panel simply dissipates into the building. All of those issues are eliminated at the cost of decreased efficiency. Yet, given the choice I would install an extra panel like a window to make up for that loss instead of mounting them on the roof. When connecting the solar panel and battery to the controller it is advisable to turn the screws that bind the wire before mounting the controller on the wall so that you can view what is actually taking place. The tiny binding block is already advanced to its closed position so that if you insert the wire it will be behind the block instead of in front of it. You must turn the screw to move the block back first, then insert the wire in front of it and then turn the screw to tighten and bind it.

FYI I do RV repair and install solar on occasion. This is a personal purchase for my own unit. The install went well and the product appears to be working well. The only down side is the control has no digital display to give you that warm fuzzy that it’s doing what you expect. Instead you get flashing lights lol. At some point the plan will be to upgrade the control and add a couple more panels. For the price this is a great starter pack!

    Great Start kit
I bought this kit a year ago, to run lights and small power tools in my shed. While all was good, i quickly upgraded to a much larger charge controller to run 800watts in total and run a larger battery back. I will be adding 6 more panels to my shed for a total of 1400watts, and plan on using this charge controller in parallel with my Morning Star. Overall great buy would recommend.

      Awesome so far
I bought this beginning last summer. Took about a day to install with two power inverters. Worked very well. Only issue was fuse blown between panels and controller. It was able too keep my AGM batteries charged with no problem, but I’m upping my system to lithium batteries this next summer. I would buy ships system again.

all kits should have mppt unless.....
hello. here's what's happening. since my plan was to expand, the pwm is fine because i'll be running 2 systems eventually. when can afford, gonna get a 40amp mppt later along w/2 more panels to run 2x3 in series/6 total panels. then 1 or 2 panels more to use the pwm separately later. which will obviously need more batteries. unless i switch from the (eventual) 600w to the 100-200w using the same bank. so, in closing my thesis, as far as the 30amp pwm? very use/such handy. thanks. doge

          Does the trick
I purchased this kit about 7 years ago for an off grid camp. The kit is relatively simple to put together. I use this with golf cart batteries and an inexpensive inverter I can run a shallow well pump, led lights, led tv, small power tools and so much more but you must be conservative in your use. I did not care for the charge control that came with the kit so I replaced it within a year with a Kid control. I have the panels facing west as the property is on a lake and I can’t cut a clearing due to shore land zoning and I am happy with the amount of power it gives. Considering the price of the kit you can’t beat it for an entry into solar especially if you have a building with no access to the grid.

            400 Watt starter kit
Very nice kit. A wiring diagram would of been nice but I can just look it up on the internet.. A inline fuse would of been nice to add to the kit, and it taking a extra 2 weeks to get one shipped it was a little hassle.
